  1. Hi StringJunky. Support? it is a factual radio frequency. A microwave oven cooks cells with 2.4GHz. WiFi emits 2.4GHz at much lower power level; but is there all the time. Unsure if I prefer a leaky oven a few minutes a day or a weak emission at all times. Supporting the other part; the priority pursuit of lazyness and comforts by the modern way of living is obvious. ๐Ÿคจ
  2. Just wait until someone else does another study pointing to the more dangerous WiFi 2.4GHz radiofrequency flooding 24/7 almost every house+office because of the comfort and lazyness to plug an ethernet cable instead.
  3. Thank you, Sensei. Not ignoring you at all. The delay to check all your suggestions obeys to a desire to test another thing first. Ordered another USB to ethernet adapter and been waiting almost a week: the mailman just brought it minutes ago. Internet works now on both computers, Linux and Chromebook simultaneously with the same kind of adapter. Am watching France24 news and posting this. Both 1Gb adapters are now equal brand and model : The trouble 'evidence' of using different brand/model adapters is beyond my understanding. Am returning this 1Gb bought at a local "Bestbuy" store : And this mail ordered : and have three older of these used years ago going to the spider web box if anyone needs them : The use of adapter is because newer laptops do not include LAN jacks on their push for all wifi. Served myself a double Bourbon; -happy- ๐Ÿฅƒ
  4. Thank you. Does the above mean coagulation is promoted or deterred ?
  5. At the beginning, about every health related person had an opinion on how to cure the pandemic. I stopped reading all claims that crossed in front of me. By chance, another came in front of me yesterday that decided to read, claiming deaths are caused by lung trombosis; and that treatment ought to be blood thinners and not the way it has been done so far. Occurs to me that a good probing method would be to count how many have died while being on blood thinning medication. Is there such a statistic that can be evaluated ? I have been on such medication for a few years after a coronaries procedure and had no covid symptoms at all while living a nearly unrestricted life. -Please do not bury all related posts into one megathread-
  6. This variant found in England recently this year, should be named -20; or there is a reason why not; or waiting to make it later as Covid-21 ? ๐Ÿ™„
  7. Greetings. Often read "airplanes with 'high wings' are slower than airplanes with 'low wings' Why ?
  8. Nothing sensitive. Sorry but I have half a brain left if that much and splitting that into attention to two persons leaves almost nothing to both... ๐Ÿ˜€ After a few minutes, nothing reported :
  9. Yes, I can. (attached) Please allow me to pay full attention to Ghideon now; will get back to you externet@externet-Presario-CQ57-Notebook-PC:~$ ping | grep -v Usage: grep [OPTION]... 10. On this Linux computer now working normal and posting this; It never ends reporting, had to close the terminal. externet@externet-Presario-CQ57-Notebook-PC:~$ ping PING ( 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=1.42 ms 64 bytes from icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=1.16 ms 64 bytes from icmp_seq=3 ttl=64 time=1.27 ms 64 bytes from icmp_seq=4 ttl=64 time=1.24 ms 64 bytes from icmp_seq=5 ttl=64 time=1.19 ms 64 bytes from icmp_seq=6 ttl=64 time=1.22 ms 64 bytes from icmp_seq=7 ttl=64 time=1.17 ms 64 bytes from icmp_seq=8 ttl=64 time=1.20 ms ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ externet@externet-Presario-CQ57-Notebook-PC:~$ Request timeout for icmp_seq 103 Request: command not found externet@externet-Presario-CQ57-Notebook-PC:~$
  11. Thank you, Ghideon. Am using Ubuntu 18.04 at the computer on RJ45-1. I can open its terminal and operate it well. Not always interpret all it says, but I can use it. The new Chromebook on RJ45-2 is the one evading me from finding its terminal. Perhaps has to be downloaded/installed yet. A hanging question is if two USB-to-ethernet adapters in the same network cause conflict. (One on computer 1; one on Chromebook). As manufacturers trend is to eliminate optical drives, hard drives, replaceable memory, ethernet jacks in favor of all wifi/cloud/throwaway forcing the use of adapters...
  12. Thanks, studiot.. My 'smart' phone is never used to play on the internet, only used as telephone + whatsup with the telephony provider service only and no home wireless to it. Went to the store, bought another USB-to-ethernet adapter similar to the pictured one. Same "no internet" prompt. Will dig deeper into the misbehavior and get the sledge hammer ready...
  13. Thanks, studiot. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ You say you have nothing wifi equipped in your house. Are you quite sure? The gateway (modem) has its wireless feature disabled by the service provider by contract. Even if you have 'disabled' it on the Chromebook, won't it will still be live inside ? Its wifi and bluetooth are off by selected choice in network settings menu. Some modern televisions have internal wifi as well as Ethernet connections. Mine gets the programming from ethernet RJ45-3 ----->tuner*----->HDMI, old to have any network. Same with printers, scanners, doorbells and other auxiliary devices. My printer is still in its sealed carton, no others. Printers with wifi and ethernet are often a pain to get working on the right network. That will be pain for a future day. If you have such a printer is the chromebook trying to set itself to the printer's own local network and fighting itself if you want to use the router ? Printer is disabled at the Chromebook settings. Do you have a 'firestick' or other interface between tv and home network ? No firestick, * it is another wired animal : ----> https://www.ebay.com/itm/X96-Mini-TV-Box-Android-7-1-2-S905W-Quad-Core-WiFi-HD-2GB-16GB-4K-Media-Player/233493321077?hash=item365d495575:g:B0EAAOSwU2BeRD4-
  14. Poking, resetting, changing parameters, trying other servers, cycling power of all devices in different sequences... the Linux computer on Rj45-1 ended impaired too. No internet for a couple of days, unable to post. Interestingly, the internet television tuner on the RJ45-3 was always able to work fine. Removed the RJ-45-2 Ethernet-to-USB adapter below from the Chromebook and restored functionality on this, the Linux unit. Posting the progress. Seems the adapter is flaky or kaput. Worked fine just for a few days.
  15. Thanks for your patience. Will follow. Typing responds as "is unreachable" on the Chromebook; ๐Ÿ˜ช and on the Linux machine am now; shows
  16. Cannot find the 'terminal' nor a 'console' in this one week new Chromebook, an unskilled with it. Am s l o w to remind your kindness. Will be back after follow suggestions above.
  17. Side question... DNS is like a telephone directory, where names are shown as their equivalent numbers; example scienceforum.net is or something like that. And if the DNS is kaput, if I know and type instead of scienceforums.net that IP address "" I should arrive to this site, right ? Sorry, am s l o w . I do not know how to find the 'numerical' IP address of devices or sites.๐Ÿ˜ช Thanks... I will now try the suggestions on last 2 posts.
  18. Thanks Ghideon. I can access the gateway 'reports' at if that means anything. Typing at address responds as "is unreachable"
  19. Thanks MigL. I do not know what an antivirus is. Have not had such since 2005 when abandoned Windows.
  20. Thanks. Following Sensei suggestion will take longer for me to digest. Will put good effort to understand it, even no Windows here. At the moment, this computer is working normal interacting with scienceforums; the tuner is showing live RAI (Italia) broadcast news but the Chromebook complains about DNS probe.failed.
  21. Greetings. The flag bearer of computer idiots again. Get the DNS probe error in a Chromebook. Before was also in the Linux machine. Power cycling all several times allowed me to enter the internet to post this. There is nothing Windows in my home. There is nothing wireless in my home. Have three ethernet wired devices to the gateway (modem?): A Linux computer; a Chromebook computer, a tuner that receives internet television from the whole planet. Most of the time all works well, but something gets the 'period' and I cannot solve what cannot understand. Reading related articles on the web; they assume everyone uses Windows+Chrome+Wifi and do not apply for me to attempt the fix. Any idiot-proof guidance to cure the misbehavior will be appreciated.
  22. Hi. Picture a bunch of solar panels on a roof to generate 3KW electricity. The purpose, to heat a dwelling, nothing else. No connection to mains, no inverter to supply appliances nor lighting. Just heat. Powering a heater during the daylight hours, warming the dwelling plus heating up something that will release warmth at night time. A water reservoir works well absorbing/releasing heat, but needs piping implemented toward radiators like in some very old houses. Barrels of rocks heated by electric elements can warm air passing trough them to release warm air at nights into existing HVAC ducts. What if the rocks are replaced by iron scrap, like engine blocks in barrels ? What convenient dry material would better retain heat per volume ?

  24. Found out today that China is building a 500 metres diameter telescope antenna in PingTang, to start operating in 2021 ๐Ÿ˜€ Can someone explain the convenience of making this one spherical instead of parabolic ?
