  1. What qualifies cases for US SC attention? It seemed to me, a while ago, that every case the government lost in the lower courts went straight to the SC.
  2. Yes, Trump's skulking outside the law to see what/who he can find to help him.
  3. From what I've been reading, this is just posturing to play to his base that he's still fighting.
  4. Yes, I was thinking of the pending legal matters and debt. It strikes me as a serious folly to go for such a public position when one knows that one has such a complicated and dubious past record.
  5. Trump's actions seem consistent with that of a person in fear of his future once his presidential immunity lapses.
  6. Right-leaning Democrats, 'right' as in within the Democratic spectrum, that are Pro-Big Business, may seek to undermine aspiring progressive policies from the left of the party.
  7. Why is it obvious? My feeling is they won because they didn't message too far to the left, given how close the races were, Sanders in this this race instead of Biden would have been a straigghtforward win for the GOP..Another thing is, Ocasio-Cortez'-types wishes are probably dead in the water, given the likely layout of the Senate. The results don't seem amenable to a future progressive agenda. Just imo, of course.
  8. Trump will be 'delighted' to have his two favourite people flanking him on the WH wall.
  9. ON GOP dissent, these are the sort of comments I was reading in this AP article: https://apnews.com/article/pat-toomey-no-evidence-vote-fraud-0ac291da7ab09f6336d24290ef81f53b
  10. It's good to read about Republican senators, and others, expressing dissent against Trump's fabrications about fraud. Hopefully, they'll eat him alive and spit him out at the appropriate time. Time for both sides to learn to compromise.
  11. If Trump wins, we'll have to start viewing the US as a problem and adversary.
  12. But your original post has been a success for you, as you now probably know where you might go from here.
  13. With any luck, pending legal proceedings will knock that one on the head.
  14. @studiot @joigus @wtf See if one these guys can help.
  15. A clear retelling of the US COVID19 story. What shines through for me is Trump's narcissism and trying to control the narrative. I hope the CDC's standing can recover. Their online submissions, on lots of medical subjects, have been an ongoing, trusted resource personally.
  16. The hypothetical 'We', just like the hypothetical 'One'. "If one...". I would imagine your brain inserts depth information sourced from memory, just as my deaf brain constructs and fill;s in the missing parts of words so that they are intelligible.
  17. Empathy would likely suffer, putting ones needs before others.
  18. Yeah, don't give it the oxygen of exposure.
  19. If you start with 22000 genes, and in each generation backwards, it halves until you are left with one gene shared, your identifiable genetic relationship with that line ends. in about 14-15 generations. This is how I understood it but could be wrong. Assuming a gene is some indivisible unit of heredity.
  20. I think it goes, as mentioned here many times, that there are serious, systemic-societal issues there, which sets the US police forces up to where they are today.
  21. This is the problem with routine arming of officers, they can become complacent/lazy and fall back on their weapons in all stop situations. I also think it alienates the public on a general level,, rendering them more inaccessible and less personable in routine situations.
  22. Yes, the outcome of a lot of US police interventions seems predestined to come to a violent conclusion.
  23. They can also bring in officers from outside a force to review the events.
