  1. Why would anyone make a spud gun out of plastic when they can use thick, steel piping. In my mind, its much safer becuse, no matter how hard that potato is jammed in there, it will always come out with out the gun exploding. Ia also imagine one could build a much nicer one out of steal, becuase you can weld/braze/solder onto it.
  2. Ya, in longs drugs, i found a set of 4 floppy's, and was realy tempted to buy it to test my drive out and if i ever need them. Four of them were like 7 bucks. So i said screw it.
  3. i found them quite expensive. But they are re-writable.

    Homepage?

    whats the "home page"
  5. I know what you mean. It is not a paint. Ive used it before multiple times. It also stains skin bad (well, just about anything). If bleach doesnt work, maybe conc. H2O2 (but this is very reactive, and good luck getting a hold of enough). Ummm, oh , ya, maybe try some muriatic acid from the hardware store. The main purpose of this stuff is to clean bricks and concrete. I'd imagine muriatic acid (conc. HCl) will get below the stain, and eat a thin amount of concrete below it, and then the stain will be gone. Now that i think of it, im very confident muriatic will work. Its like 4 bucks a gallon at the hardware store (although, you can get quarts of it). Just realy follow instructions on the bottle, becuase muriatic is some strong stuff. If that doesnt work, take a power sand, and put the toughest grit sand paper you can find (like 60 grit will work, otherwise the grit is like stones glued to cardboard) and sand the hell out if. Might work, but i think muriatic will work good.
  6. whats a multipole magnet (how does it differ from a normal magnet)?
  7. Could one apply a voltage to the coils, and make a cylinoid that pushes the magnet out?
  8. so my commit charge is my ram usage? this cant be right. It says my commit charge is 515m/1248m
  9. The family desktop im using right now has a floppy, but in almost a years time, I have never even put a floppy in it. I dont even know if it works right. I hyavent used a floopy drive forever. But the dell i ordered (laptop) wont have a floppy drive (its a 600m, so it cant, unless you get a modular one, then you have to swap it with the cd drive) or a usb one when it arrives tomorow.
  10. I think hes saying that we may have a wrong perception of time. Maybe what we think as being "time" is totaly distorted, and it is actualy faster to us. But maybe no animal has a real perception of time. IDK, im just throwing in my 2 cents.
  11. YT, you have to remember that the side walk was probaly poured onto gravel, or dirt, and probaly has a very, very, very rough surface, and probaly has some re-bar showing through also.
  12. ok, it can't be. I opened like 30 programs and got it up to 586megs filled . Where can i find my RAM usage?
  13. in windows task manager, is my page file usage how much RAM ive used? Im running 512mb of RAM, and right now its pretty full, at 400megs
  14. I think his best chance is to mix MEK with acetone, and let it totaly soak that part of concrete like a puddle, then soak it up. Or is this the same thing that richard batty suggested?
  15. wow, what a cool find! Maybe its nothing (although it certainly looks like some tool).
  16. myth 13: It matters what type of USB device your running. If its not "hot swappable" then no, you should unplug or plug in a usb device on a booted computer. Epecialy while transfereing data between both devices.
  17. so do these things hes made have any cool physical properties?

  22. I've always wanted to do that (to light my blowtorches, instead of using those cerium metal "flint" igniters, which are unreliable). The trouble is, where do you get a Pt wire, and how much would it cost!

    space shuttle

I dont see how this foam falling off the tanks is such a huge problem for NASA. There has to be a solution. Maybe a different material. Maybe a stronger, more flexible adhesive will work (that is, if the foam is glued on). What are other countries doing right that we aren't. They don't seem to be having this problem. Will someone please explain to me why this is so difficult to solve!
