    Physics Question

hmmm... now you are a stationary object observing that car traveling at c. But how fast would the light from the car's headlights be traveling from your refrence frame? Assuming that there are no absticles such as planets, just you, the car and the car's light.
  2. Has anyone ever studied the sleeping habits of marine animals? Sharks never stop swimming, even during sleep. Dolphins being possibly the most inteligent to marine animals probably need sleep in the same ways we do, information processing, but how could they achieve REM sleep if they have to surface ever.... 20 mins or so? assuming they have an equivalent of REM sleep.

    cryptozoology

The main argument agains such a creature is that for it to remain undiscovered there would have to be a population so small that it would not be able to sustain itself. Ime sure that it was mentioned in the show (if I saw the same one) about a Russian expedition into Syberia which killed a yeti (sasquatch, big-foot, same thing in my book) but could not carry the corpse so they simplt burried it. It is interesting that there are reports of this kind of creature world wide. In the video of that first picture you have there the breasts of the big-foot actually wobbled and swung around. I doupt a hoaxster would consider disguising himself in a female costume with that degree of detail. Also, there are people trying to attract big-foots using recorded sound of them, and there have been reports of responses to the calls. Exciting.
  4. I C, thanks for the help Doc!
  5. German humour? That is a never before heard term in my book.
  6. Just say that the smalles measure of matter/energy is composed of very tiny vibrating strings strings... or something to that effect. Shouldn't one understand what it is before attempting to educate kids about it? ugh Thats all that I think I know about it.
  7. Is REM sleep the period in which one dreams or is it more like deep sleep? Sorry, it slipped my mind.
  8. This may not be appropriate but... There is a 'female' porn star witht that condition and she is glad to have it. At the age of... 5 when the male sex organ began developing her parents decided to leave it be, that it was just natural. She did not have an excessively difficult childhood until puberty when a lot of confusion started. Obviously she wasn't into dating much. Well, now she is speaking out for all people of her kind and to parents with children affected with that condition to let their children make the decision once they understand it. She enjoys her work and life. Sorry, I can't remember the name. But it just goes to show what Edward said.
  9. Why is water such a critical component? Because of the hydroxide molecule or simply due to the properties of hydrogen?
  10. There are very many theories conserning planet X and those shifts. According to one there will be massive ecological turmoil in which 2/3 of the world's population will die. But 90% of Canadains will surive . Supposedly in the next ten years There is simply too much speculation about planet X to have any sound theories conserning it. Won't this instability cause another magnetic pole shift? Or is that not what you meant?
  11. It will be interesting to see what they have to offer to the scientific community in that sense. Give NASA some competition
  12. Tell them EXACTLY what you think and how you fell about it. Be honest and they will make the correct and honest decision. Why be afraid of your parents in any way shape or form, they are the ones which shoudl be least likely to hurt you in any way.
  13. I guess it began for me with science fiction tv shows. Then playing with toys afterwards I used to try to immagine and explain all the parts of the toy if it was a spacecraft ("this is the lazer" for example)... then came an addiction to Discovery/TLC channels which I watched cronically since I was 12. Ultimately I figured I was in for the lang haul in the area of physics when I saw a mind bogling episode of Big Thinkers (an excellent TechTV program) featuring Dr. Michio Kaku. Which happened just 4 months ago, since when I have discovered places like this and have begun reading non-fiction materials.
  14. Strife, you are wrong. Brain cells do replicate. A study was done which discovered newly made brain cells within a 40 year old man, don't ask me about the specifics. Nature evens itself out, any one species cannot overpopulate the world before its resources run out and its numbers decrease. We die because natural processes cannot support a life form for so long. There is no need for a feble creature that must be supposred by others. When women enter metapause (beofre which they would have had children if it weren't for society) the body begins to decay... as if saying, "okay, you have served your purpose, chances are you won't at this age, its time to go". Does anybody oppose this view point?
  15. Bill, you are studying ecology, no? Strife, I don't think that ANY of this is a mystery. Do a search on google for the info you want.
  16. What about instituting a massive neural net in the web? Manny architectures could be mimiked, although speen would not be very impressive. Has something like this been deemed possible?
  17. Bill gates isn't satan, he is a business man! Lindows is stabe, much more so than Win simply because of the quality of programming, and the fact that it is programed in ... moduels, so if one fails the whole system continues functioning. (so ive heard) Linux/Unix systems are used in almost all servers, so that blares volumes about their stability. Lindows is campatible with most microsoft programs like Office and such... So simply try it! You have nothing to loose if you get another system for it... a nice hunk of metal to run Bridge Commander
  18. Are you aware of what kind of systems were used in those experiments you outlined in that article faf? I will stick with Dr. Kaku's prediction of beyond 2100 before we see those kinds of machines accessable to business and the public. Although quantumn transistors could come before then (sorry, i don't know the actual term for that kind of transistor. but it susses a single electron).
  19. A pet is a pet, you take care of it and you have the illusion that it cares about you (which it does, because you feed it). I picked no because there is no reason to pick yes. It would be the same kind of cat but the deciding factor of what any mamal will be like is the way it is raised. Enless ofcoarse you just like the hair colour pattern on it. Bill, I suggect you go for a less hairy cat next time. Ide try to get a naked mole rat as a pet! The ultimate exotic mamalian pet.
  20. That women ---> man experiment was carried out with her consent, and I think she had to have it done due to medical problems. I am unsure, I saw that 1 or 2 years ago.
  21. aww... what a dissapointment. When I glanced upon the title of this thread i thought it said "The Joy Of FORGERY" . Which could have been quite ammusing if actual phsychological terms were applied to it. I read the first paragraph, and judging by the content and style I would say that it was written by a 14 year old before his first highschool english class.

    Teh Box

heh, I don't think it should be placed on a carpet; fire hazard.
  23. That really is unnecessary. I don't think it is a rivalry, more like an appreciation... I have just posted an equal amount of posts on both forums; 5 posts! And I think that I will be posting here, why? Because Bill is here, and if Bill sais this place is a good place then I respect that. It wouldn't be very fair to 'delete' your account due to your partisipation on mkaku now would it? I suppose that it is just an illusion of a rivalry... Like stated earlyer in the thread, beter managment has made this forum great, something to strive towards at mkaku.
