  1. I read this very often in science fiction. In Ilium the Quantum Matrix around Achilles was changed. In The Dreaming Void Advanced Neural Systems is embedded into the Quantum Lattice around earth. In The Night's Dawn trilogy there is something that can control Vacuum Fluctuations (aka Quantum Fluctuations according to wiki). Now Quantum Physics tend to be used to explain all sorts of funky technology in science fiction but I want to know just how much is really based on actual science.   2. Does anyone know whether there are currently any interpretations of quantum mechanics that are entirely deterministic? I was recently watching a debate between the cosmologist Sean Carroll and the Christian apologist William Lane Craig, wherein Craig claimed that there exist interpretations of quantum mechanics that are entirely deterministic. Now, frankly I would be tempted to just dismiss the assertion outright as an ad hoc attempt at rescuing his first premise from being falsified, because I've certainly never heard of such an interpretation if it exists, but I could be mistaken. In Wikipedia "Double slit" the principle of complementarily is defined as "that photons can behave as either particles or waves, but not both at the same time", stating that an interference pattern disappears when the path of the particle is known. But with a single slit you know the path and still the photon diffracts, which is a wave effect. So how is complementarity exactly defined in this case ?

  7. It's often science documentaries that give me new ideas or offer information on existing ones. Same with an awesome series about spacetime, which recently mentioned something I didn't know about although it didn't elaborate much on. Best idea felt to ask. From what I knew, the leap of an electron into different orbits happens at a constant or random rate. In other words, no interference (at least known to people) typically triggers an electron to "appear" in another location... it just happens based on probability.   14. I've been watching videos about quantum foam, multiverses, and string theory. One of the things that gets me is that if universes can come together and combine, and if there are infinite universes, then why am I not seeing obscure things each day that break the laws of physics and seem out of the ordinary, such as people walking around with antenna on their heads?     Hello! On wiki page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isotopes_of_carbon we can read that decay energy of Carbon-11 isotope is 11C -> 11B + e+ + Ve + 0.96 MeV The first one with 0.96 MeV is correct. I am receiving exactly the same value. 11C + e- -> 11B + Ve + 3.17 MeV But this one, I am not so sure whether it's correct. Can someone point me to other sources mentioning this decay energy of Carbon-11 to verify data.. ? The best would be couple independent sources. So, as I understand it, virtual particles can exist because they exist for such a short period of time, so as uncertainty in time decreases, uncertainty in energy increases, creating enough energy for a particle to exist for that time increment. But why does uncertainty in time decrease as the length of time decreases? Is uncertainty equal to change? Is that why uncertainty and change are both represented by delta? I'm very uncertain about what uncertainty actually is.

I read about zero viscosity and all these exciting abilities it has but i couldnt find how helium acquires zero viscosity. Example: Photons are entangled, so when measuring polarization of one of the photons (yielding a random result) the other photon will show a perfectly correlated polarization, even if both measuring events happen at a timelike interval. However, for photons no time is passing, time and distances are shrinking to zero. For them, everything is happening simultaneously. I wonder if this may be considered as a local and realistic explanation of quantum teleportation (for photons).
