I am looking for specific information on the processes available to render Morphine Sulfate damaged beyond repair. Thermal/ Chemical denaturation would be preferred without atomising the drug or producing any form of "toxic" vapours. I have been out of the game for a while and am struggling to find appropriate references for either only processes to dehydrate morphine from a solution Any help appreciated

I'm going about the way of organic solvent extraction of aromatic compounds from flowers. However I'm unsure of the best way to extract the compounds, that is: - Just place the flower petals in hexane for 2-3 days or - Chop up the flower petals to increase surface area and better solvent distribution to certain crevasses. However I worry this would release alot of gunk and debris from the plant cells. Thanks, ~EE

Is dichloromethane the end all be all best organic solvent for LLE? I I only have hexane available, but I'm not sure if I'm wasting my time. Is DCM much better than hexane? (additional info: I'm extracting eugenol from water, after I steam distilled cloves) ~EE

Hello I have a few problems with figuring out intermolecular forces between interactions of caffeine and water/ caffeine and methylene chloride (DCM) for my lab. Here are the questions: Identify and discuss two different structural features that would account for solubility in methylene chloride (hint: think intermolecular forces). Identify (circle on your structure) and discuss two different structural features that would account for solubility in water (hint: think intermolecular forces). I attempted the problems and think that London dispersion forces are in between the caffeine and DCM interactions but not in the caffeine & water interactions because caffein…

Hi guys, I'm trying to measure the concentration of cellulose in a sample. I know phenol-sulphuric acid assay is used for measuring common carbohydrates, but I'm not sure if the method will work for cellulose too. Hopefully I can find some comments here. Thanks.

Reaction here I'm stumped. I understand that the methylphenyl group would be ortho-directing (because the para position is occupied) and the carbonyl group is meta-directing, so I know where the substitution will occur. I'm just stumped as to what the electrophile is and how it will attach. Help please?

I guess this is a chemistry question. I cant find the answer online, all I see online is that u should keep chocolate in an airtight container. my question however is, is a a chocolate layer itself an airtight seal ? I am wondering this because I am experimenting in making my own chocolates with dried fruits and other fillings, but the expiration date that I would use for them depends on if the filling inside the chocolate is coming in contact with oxygen. Hope you guys can help me out. Kind regards, Gee

Hi there. I'm having SO much trouble trying to figure out the reasoning to this answer. I'm given this molecule (with some hydrogens I labeled A, B, C, D, and E): I need to rank the hydrogens in order of increasing acidity. I know the answer is DACEB, but I'm a little confused as to why. My textbook tells me that the most important contributing factor is what atom the hydrogen is bonded to (with the most acidic lying to the right of a period and down a group). This would, undoubtedly, make hydrogen E the most acidic since it's bonded to oxygen while the others are bonded to carbon, but this isn't the case. It must be due to the resonance stabilization that the doub…

I am asking this question because i am helping in a court case. There was a bucket that was sitting for approximately 6 months which contained a mixture of different chemicals wieghing over 3kg. The chemicals were in a plastic bag and were in sealed in the bucket, and contained in different amounts, 1.phenyl-2propanone 2.trifluorophenylpiperazine 3.dextromethorphan 4.NN dimethylamphettamine 5.piperonal 6.caffeine 7.levamisole 8.methorphan 9.dimethyl sulfone 10.benzaldehyde the question i am asking is it probable for MDMA in a very small quantaties (less than 1%) out of these ingredients?

Hi everybody I have a question relating to the stability of sugar phosphates, particularly in aqueous solution I recently enquired about purchasing small quantities of sucrose6phosphate, glucose6phosphate & trelahose6phosphate (the latter being particularly resistant to oxidation as it has no reducing function). All of these come as alkaline dipotassium salts. The vendor recommends storage / transport at -20 C. Would this be citing overkill policy? Infact I don't really understand why sugar phosphates cannot sit in a pH buffered solution at room temp for years and never hydrolyse into the separate sugar and phosphate. With out the presence of a biologica…

I've got some Salicylic Acid powder that I want to use to make a 15% face peel. I've got some Propylene Glycol to dissolve in, ( or possibly could use Isopropanol alcohol) I read I would need to use a ratio of 1:7 SA to PG. Once it's dissolved I assume I then need to dilute it with water? what is the process for all of this, how do I work out the percentage strength of the SA? I've been looking around the web but can't seem to find what I'm looking for and don't want to burn my face off! any help would be appreciated!

What if there could be a pill to replace sex. I'm thinking of this on some chemistry researching a pill that can cause pregnancy the opposite of a Morning after Pill. The creation of the pill would be time taking as the male would have to offer his genetics of course the male would do it through a pill my idea was from the Morning after Pill. Ofcourse this may be very impractical or just impossible it's just a theory I have from my research i've been doing I'm not much of a Organic Chemistry person or Biology person. Tell me what you think
