I bought a latop with an irda port, but cant figuer out how to use it. I enabled it in setup. I installed the driver. My friend brought over his psp and it was communicating alittle, but i cant figuer out how to do anything with the port (i.e. transfer files) Id imagine when a devic is communicating with my irda port, some software would pop up asking me what to do. I am unning xp if that helps.

I just bought a new laptop for college!!! Now what I want to do is transfer stuff from the desktop I've been using for the past few years to the laptop. What's the easiest way to do this? I'd assume setting up a network but I really don't know what's involved in that. It should be basic stuff transfered like a few word files and some music. Can anyone tell me the easiest/cheapest way to do this? Thanks.

Simple situation and as a solution I want to buy a second NIC and a cross over cable for one of the computers. Will this setup work?

Simple question I have a: PII 233 160 MB ram 4 MB Diamond Stealth 2 S220 Vid card 3 GB HD 120 GB HD 24X CD Reader 3.5 Inch Floppy Because of the video card I cant run win xp unless I'm really lucky. So can I set up this computer so that I can acces files on the HD using IE as a FTP client? To mod I'm sorry this is in the wrong setion it belongs in Computer Help.

I have a compaq PIII desktop computer with two HDs a FD and a CD drive installed. I needed to format another HD so I uninstalled the CD drive and replaced it with the other HD and ran FDisk from a floppy on the other HD. Then Uninstalled the other HD and reinstalled the CD drive. Now I cant boot from my original HD and once the BIOS fails other boot options I get Non-System disk or disk error replace and strike any key when ready _ I have checked the boot order and there arent any prioblems there and I don't know what I should do. Any ideas?

I've recently started to pick up the game Elder Scrolls Three: Morrowind. I have the Tribunal and the Bloodman expansions installed on my computer. But I have a problem. I've been isntalling some mods into the game here and there, and now I can't access my inventory, even with all the mods taken off the game. does anyone know how to fix my little problem? I really want to play the game, but I can't without my inventory!!! (I do access my inventory by clicking the right button on my mouse, right?)

I will be getting a laptop or PPC in the near future I will be getting one with capeable of connecting to a wireless LAN. I will be using this device both at school and at home. Thing is neither has a wireless network. So what I want is a device that I can use as a wireless access point connected to a router via an ethernet cable or usb cable to one of the computers on the network that will connct to my laptop r PPC. Is there a setup/device that would allow this?

can it be done? i have loads of extentions, custom settings and book marks, and dont really fancy downloading FF, installing FF, pissing about with the settings, downloading all my extentions, setting all the options on all the extentions, exporting and inporting my bookmark list etc... is there a way in which i can just copy my FF -- extentions, settings and reg entrys inall -- across to another computer?

I got a problem on my cartridge. I thought it was almost out of ink, so I refilled some into it. But after that, the intensity of the black colour decreases. I am absolutely sure about it. The most strange thing is: My printer is all-in-one. That means I can scan some documents and print them out without my computer on. The intensity of the black colour is normal and perfect for this option. Can anyone help me? In the photo, the background and the text show their difference in intensity obviously.

hey all my computer is irratibly slow because its old. i have decided to rebuild it and still use the same cpu case, cd-rom,cd-r,floopy,zip and possibly monitor. could anyone recomend parts, tips for construction, or anything else of that nature? thanks much

I have programmed a database with three tables in delphi 5 and now i am trying to put the program on other computers and tryin to run it from the exe file. THe program executes but the database is non operational, because it says the database isnt setup on the computer. Through the database dektop and alias etc. so im wondering how do u bring the database with the program. thanks.

So I was playing around with my winXP kernel hoping to improve the system a little, it's nothing I ain't done before! I decided to replace my current kernel with a updated version I made a few weeks back but never got around to booting into safe mode for to override current system files. This kernel I was playing with is the ntsokrnl.exe which some of you may have seen before, it's a windows critical file! Anyway, after successfully implementing my new kernel my computer couldn't boot. I went into safe mode (where it shows what is loading) and it got stuck on ntsokrnl.exe.... Ok, when I try to install the BF2 demo, it does the install sheild wizard thing. Then as you all know, a little picture comes up saying "Battlefield 2". As soon as that picture loads, an error message comes up saying: "You need to have administrator privileges to run setup." What is that all about? I am running a Windows ME, and there is no administrator for my home computer. We have two computers. One is my parent's, the other is mine and my sister's. I play all my games on my computer.
