  2. "When propene is treated with HCl in ethanol, one of the products of the reaction is ethyl isopropyl ether. Write a reasonable mechanism showing how this product forms. For each step of the mechanism, use curved arrows to show the direction that an electron pair moves when a bond is made or broken." Here's the reaction that I sketched out. It looks ok to me, but if someone could double check it for me I'd sincerely appreciate it! Just wanna make sure I got each subsequent transfer of electrons/breaking of bonds correct. Thanks!

  3. I am asked to predict product(s) of the SN1 reaction below and label the major (most stable) product if applicable. Should I be drawing more than one conformation of that product? Ex. a conformation that has the isobutyl group in the axial position, since there could be more than one 1,4-cis conformation? Any help sincerely appreciated, thanks!!

  4. I have received a science assessment where I am to perform my own investigation and to present my findings in a report. Before I can conduct my experiment I must complete a proposal. My aim is to determine what substance is best for removing tarnish from silver. I am having some troubles with answering and finding answers to these two particular questions. 1. "Identify scientific concepts involved in your investigation." 2. "Identify any previous research done by other scientists on your investigation" It would mean a lot to me if someone could help me with these two questions.

So our instructor posed this question to use at the beginning of the year. What would happen if you where to drill a hole straight through the center of the Earth and jump in (all technicalities aside including air resistance). Well just thinking about the problem I think that you you would make it to the exact other side of the Earth because gravity would be decelerating you for the same amount of time as it would be accelerating you. But I want to be able to show this mathematically. So I have came up with this. I would appreciate if people would say if this is right and if it is wrong could you point me in the right direction. V=[math]\sqrt{2GH}[/math] Yo…

i am trying to determine if it is better to have laminar or turbalent flow for my problem. i have a hot material (nylon 6) that needs to be cooled. so i will have a jacketed wall (heat exchange plate) that will have water running through it. should i use dimensions that will result in laminar or turbalent flow? also, i am having trouble finding a simple equation to use that involves laminar flow. thanx!

(see attachment) here is my problem i know the delta temperature i want my nylon to be. with that i can solve for a multitude of things. to start off, this will give me my heat that is required to leave the nylon. however, something went wrong. i am attempting to cool nylon, through stainless steel, and with flowly water on the other side in a series of heat exchange plates. the last part of the attachment shows that when two different calculations are taken place, a different number results (not good). as well as my Nusselt number is way too low. it should be a min of 100. any help would be greatly appreciated on what i did wrong?! heat_transfer2…

True- breed star eyed individual with smooth tail marries another true-breed square-eyed individual with hairy tail and all of their childred have star eyes and hairy tailes. Two friends Jane and Mary often do their shopping on Saturday afternoons. If Mary goes shopping, the probability that Jane also goes is 0.96. If Jane goes, the probability that Mary also goes is 0.8. The probability that neither goes is 0.07. Find the probability that both go shopping. How do I approach the question? I tried to do conditional probability by doing all the fractions with eg. R(Jane goes intersect Mary goes)/P(Mary goes) = 0.96 and a couple of these but didn't really work.

Hi, this is not really a homework question, since I don't understand it at all, I can't really do my homework. And I am having a test on thursday on this... Anyway, I am learning Double Source Interference / Single Source Double Slit Interference in Physics. I understand how some of the node minima, waves are canceled out, and the maxima, wave construct. But I don't get the calculation part of it. All those equations and drawing of triangles. It look really confusing to me, and I don't quite understand it, beside that if a point is equal distance from both sources, then the wave will arrive at the same time. Different distance they don't match or something. …

Hey, I was wondering if there is a way to solve enyme kinetics problems without drawing a graph? The question that I am trying to answer doesn't specify that a graph has to be drawn. The table i have been given has 5 substrate concentrations of each experiment and the velocities of each reaction: one with inhibitor 1, one with inhibitor 2 and one without inhibitor added. I must find the Km and Vmax for the absence of inhibitor, presence of inhibitor 1 and presence of inhibitor 2. Any help that you could give me with this question would be very helpful. I am clueless when it comes to this subject. Thanks XX

Im currently doing some teach-yourself-maths in preperation for exams in June and am on the last chapter, Group theory, which I seem to be struggling with. Here's the question im stuck with; "G is a group and D(G) is the set of ordered pairs of elements (g,e) where is an element of G and e = +/- 1. Show that d(G) together with the binary operation (g,e) @ (h,d) = (gh^e,ed) is a group if and only if G is Abelian ((h,d) denotes another element of D(G))" (@ is a general binary operation) Unfortunately the example in the book was not particularly helpful so I have no real idea how to tackle this. What I do know; The 4 axioms- closed, associativity, identity…
