I have two neural network topologies. The first has two input nodes that are fully connected to 14 hidden layer nodes. The hidden layer is then split. 7 of those nodes go to 2 output nodes. The other 7 go to another 2 output nodes. The second topology is very similar, but instead of the split hidden layer receiving input from the 2 input nodes, each section of the hidden layer receives input from separate input nodes (2 each). Effectively, then, the first network is split into 2 networks. The thing is, what if these two networks in the second topology receive exactly the same inputs to their input nodes? Does it then produce the exact same results as the …

I am new to this forum and am wondering if anyone here is familiar with the concept of the technological singularity? "A technological singularity is a hypothetical event occurring when technological progress becomes so rapid and the growth of artificial intelligence is so great that the future after the singularity become qualitatively different and harder to predict"

  3. OK so not really a super computer but I have decided to build 1 with say 8 gigs ram 3 terrabytes hard drive a couple CD/RW's all that stuff (thanks EBAY!) but what does the giga hertz and all that mean with the processors? you see nice ones with 4 gig ram with 2.6 Ghz and fairly generic ones with 1 or 2 gig ram and 3.6 Ghz I want the best of the best, my theory is to build 1 and avoid all this upgrade.......upgrade expense just update the OS as needed every 5 years or so. It'll be an Asus motherboard designed for 8 gigs ram and run windows 7 I guess because XP won't read that much ram. Anything else you think might be useful for my project please include it..........…

  4. I want to download and install Linux Mint, but they give two versions for download: 32-bit or 64-bit. How do I find out which is the correct one to use? Then, after I download it, how would I go about creating the Live DVD? -- Simply burn the files onto a blank DVD? If so, would it have autorun included by default? Or is that something I'd have to add onto the disk somehow?

Playstation 3 Supercomputer This is pretty neat a Super Computer made from PS3s. I have seen graphics and physics work done for gaming on four and eight of these but I have never seen a hive. Maybe there is a possibility here for future recycling, maybe super computers for students by donation or something. When PS4s arrive I am asking that everyone send me their PS3s for recycling Thank you!

Hi, For memory restrictions, I cannot fit RSA key generation algorithm that would generate keys longer than 32 bit. This seems too short even for my application (data only needs to remain secure for 15-20 minutes). The question is: how many 32 bit RSA keys I have to be generate in order to achieve security of single 256 bit RSA key? (BTW, what do you think, how long can a 32-bit RSA key hold when attacked using an average PC? Second? Minute?). Thanks.

  11. Computer Organization, Computer Design, and Computer Architecture; can you tell me the difference between them with examples? I'll quote my book for it's explanation of the three terms, which I don't understand. What are these hardware components? What are some different computer organizations? Is the specification like x86, and the design like Pentium 4? What are some example hardwares?

Hi All Am new to MS Access and am trying to build a database and some forms, and source the fields in the form to the tables in the database. While doing this, I have an issue where am struck and can't find any help so far any where. Hope I'll get my issue resolved from here. I have a form that has two combo boxes(combo01 - 'TOWN_CD' & combo02 - 'REV_CD') and a text box(APPLCBL_RT). Now I want the text box to pop up the 'applicable rate' amount from the values I choose from the two combo boxes, Town Code and Rev Code. The 'applicable rate' will be picked from the 'Rate Table' Now there is a small catch in this. The 'Rate Table' has 'Rev Codes ' and 'Coun…

Hello forum, I'm just starting using C++, but I've got a problem, I'm working with Dev-C++ and supposedly a code like this: #include <stdio.h> int main() { printf("whatever"); return 0; } would make an output window appear saying "whatever", I checked in many other sites and it should work, nevertheless, the window opens on my computer and quickly closes up... don't know why is it happening... By the way, I'm working with version 4.9.9.2 Thanks

From what I'll reasonably guess, computer languages and implementation decisions have evolved sort of ad-hoc, which if true is one reason for the difficulty level of mastering computers. Another element, I'd suppose, is the loss of any paths that could've a) streamlined design, b) focused more on best practices, and/or c) increased overall efficiency. To elaborate, such a path can be any worthwhile fork in the past's road of computer developments that for a reason got abandoned/neglected/overlooked (for a less effective one?). If we add up all such instances of lost paths, those might be enough, potentially, to compound the overall level of complexity creep* in today…

Hi, I've been reading an algorithm book and after learning and understanding the insertion loop the topic of loop invariants comes up which confuses me somewhat. They appear, to me, to be just statements that the loop will work, i.e. the loop invariant remains true at the beginning of each iteration of the loop and when it terminates. This seems non-sensical to me as that is the entire reason for creating the algorithm in the first place so why do we need to state it? I'm more practical than theoretical which I believe is halting my ability to understand the theory behind it. Can someone explain the use of loop invariants please? Do they help to create algorithm…

  22. Hi I am an avid programmer, and have a solid understanding of the basic fundamentals of the C and HTML Programming Languages. However, I participated in the regional informatics olympiad and was completely disheartened. The questions involved use of complex algorithms and I had never studied them before. (http://ioinformatics.org/index.shtml ). To be able to participate in IoI , students need to score well in the regional olympiads held in every country. A rough guideline for the syllabus can be found over here : http://www.ioi2009.org/GetResource?id=32 Should I upgrade my knowledge-base to the C++ Programming Language? If so, please suggest me releva…

  23. I recently got an offer for a part-time job which would require me to learn PowerShell. Now, after searching the net a bit I gathered that for PowerShell to make sense, one must first be familiar with Windows Server (which is another thing I'm required to learn). Also, the word virtualization came up a number of times. The thing is, my knowledge in this area is limited to a very rough conceptual image of what ae server is and that's it; I can scarcely even host a CS LAN game. I'm eager to learn and I'm not limited by time, but I have absolutely no idea where to start. I tried searching for stuff like "Windows Server 2008 tutorial" but that just spews out a bunch of resour…
