I think you need to say exactly what you mean by "developed".

I'd look to Africa for the most ripe countries to make this transition. I don't have a formal list of those countries to share, though.

There's no evidence it ever will, but there's always hope.

 

Countries rise and fall, in may ways so I think the following is the only way it can be true, but who knows:

Can we expect the world to change much by 2060?

In 1970 Alvin Toffler wrote Future Shock, which explained how people suffer from a form of culture shock when faced with rapid technological changes; he called it future shock. In addition, he rightly predicted that the changes were accelerating. The changes that will occur between now and 2060 are beyond our imagination. Three common predictions are automation will eliminate the need for humans to work, computers will be smarter than we are today, and our brains will be augmented by computer technology including direct internet connection.

 

The first of these three predictions is simple enough to imaging, computers would be our slaves. The second one has been the subject of Hollywood and Sci Fi authors for a long time; there are many possible outcomes. The third prediction could be a Matrix like world among others. Unfortunately, future reality seldom resembles Sci Fi futures very much.

If humans have no work, then what would we do with all the free time freed up as a result? Wouldn't the robots just take away repetitive manual handling work or are you talking about all kinds of work?

Yes.

Without work, people would still build and do things. They'd just be able focus more on what truly interests them and be able to follow their passions (as opposed to staying in a job that makes them miserable merely so they can survive in the society we've constructed).
