I was just wondering if anyone will like to help me in discussing 'importance of science in children's learning'. Why is Science so important? If it's important, how does children develop scientific understanding? If science is not important in children's learning, do they ever develop scientific understanding? Grateful for your response.

Hey everyone, After a few years of work, a couple educational chemistry DVDs that I worked on are complete. The DVDs cover bonding theory and hybridization theory. I worked on the computer animation for the DVDs and tried to focus on creating an experience that is engaging and interesting (unlike most educational videos currently available). I also created our website link removed by mod where they available along with trailers for each DVD. I know there are a lot of knowledgeable people here, so I'd appreciate any feedback anyone can provide about our website or products. Thank You John Kunz Link removed by mod

I'm looking for a school with a good pre-med reputation. I have decent grades, extra curricular activities, and I'm eligible for a bunch of scholarships, so tuition isn't that much of a problem. Any suggestions? I'm a sophmore by the way; just trying to get a head start.

So, I've been going through wikipedia, reforming articles on my speciality (organismal biomechanics) because so many are just awful, and I got to wondering, how many people here contribute? On one hand, I know a lot of people have disdain for it, due to the ease of vandalism. On the other, it's frequency of use as a reference makes it a potentially valuable educational tool, and I like being able to personally vouch for sections that I've written. So, does anyone else here contribute regularly?

After taking the required general science course my freshman year of high school, my teacher suggested that i take a more advanced course in chemistry. The only knowledge I have on the subject is what was taught in the general science class. This includes balancing reaction, breaking and forming bonds, exothermic, endothermic, not a whole lot. is there any beginner type book you would recommend to help me get a bit of a head start?

For the Science fair this year I am making a Multi Stage (5 to be exact) Coil Gun, I have it all planned with diagrams, sketchs, and most of the parts gathered, except for the part of the circuit that turns the coil off automaticly so the next one can grab the projectile therby increasing its speed. The total power that my coil gun will be running on is 63 volts and 75.3 amps/hour. Each stage will run at 10.5 volts and 12.55 amps with the last one being double that. I would like to use batteries not capacitors. The batteries and wires will be on the inside of cage made of smaller plastic tubing running through the circular discs of plastic that will hold the wire in place…

Any helpful ways to study for this? Things to review? I'll also probably take the Psychology Subject Test, since my professor said she did better on it than the regular GRE and that can [potentially] help with Grad Schools. For the subject test, in Psych anyway, I've heard it's best to study a Psych 101 book (I saved mine ). But for the regular GRE, what should I start studying? Especially in regards to Math. Thanks

Well, it is that time for me. I have now written a draft of my thesis, which is in mathematics. It is at the moment 118 pages long, including all the stuff at the front. I think I have enough and it seems to be well within the average of similar things I have seen. My (quite general) question to you all is how long is yours? ******************* Sorry about the spelling mistake in the title, can a moderator correct that for me?

I have two 16 year old boys that I am teaching Biochemistry to. We are using the Principles of Biochemistry by Lehninger fourth edition, since I was able to find 3 copies for us. I was able to read and understand the first 9 chapters, so making their test was easy. However, I was wondering if someone has a test bank for this book that I could BUY so that test making would be much easier and more accurate, since the boys love to try an prove mom wrong. I will pay TOP dollar for any help. Thanks, Ushaaa precsar@yahoo.com

Hello, I'm in my final year of my bachelor's degree in molecular medicine at the moment, and I want to do postgraduate courses. I've been applying for a few PhDs in fields like cancer-research, virology, proteomics, genetics and molecular biology. So far, I've had two interviews. One was at UCL in London, and one was at my current university in the South of England. The interviews didn't go too well, in my opinion. They say they will contact me by next week to let me know if I got the position. Does anyone have any PhD interview/application advice - preferably in the UK? I'd also ike to know if a bad interview necessarily means that someone won't g…

Hi all, I've recently discovered the field of psychopharmacology, and it sounds like exactly what I want to do. What I'm wondering is, to study psychopharmacology, would I become a psychiatrist first and then specialize in psychopharmacology, or is there some other educational route that one would take to do this? Thanks

learning essentially has 3 steps. encoding, storing and decoding or retrieving. Encoding - understanding information that you receive and transform them in to understandable format. Storing - Most of the information we come across everyday doesn't get into our long term memory. But those information we use consciously for some time will leak into our long term memory. memory is a very broad topic. so it'll be not effective to talk about memory here. So I'll be submitting an article about memory and how you can effectively strengthen your memory soon. Initially all information that we come across is stored in our short term memory. Then depending on the signifi…

Given the system here I am almost sure that there will be legal issues, though. Given the fact that we had to arrange a student some prolonged time for her exam as she provided a proof of learning disability. Seriously, the US university system is bloody weird. Small wonder that so many guys are imported here.

It seems that managers have followed a course which told them that it's vital that all employees follow a course. At least, my manager probably did. The effect is that I have now a list of targets for this year: "Follow courses" is one of the targets. We even identified a few topics, which was very helpful if they were common topics of courses, which I think they are not. After that nothing else was said on the topic of courses. I have to find the courses that match the description that's written in the planning-form. I have found out that finding a course is actually not very easy. Our P&O department does not assist (they'll give you a name of an institute,…

I'm currently in college, and i want to go into a career in science, and have been thinking for a long while about doing the zoology course, and was wondering if anyone who has done the course, could at all tell me what the course was like, and if anyone has done animal behavior and welfare, whether they could tell me what that course was like, i believe this is kind of a random question. But i'm currently unsure as to what course i specifically want to take, many of the courses don't seem to be that different, so i thought that asking someone who has done the course might help me choose which would actually be best for me. Any information or help or anything at all would…

Ok, let me tell you about myself. I live in NY and go to college in NY. I intend on attending medical school 3 years from now. I am technically a Junior, credit-wise, however this is my second year as a college student. I brought to college 36 credits from College-High School programs ran by two popular universities in the state. In English I took 12 credits in (more than enough to satisfy what was needed), but I averaged I believe a B+ (however, i was awarded with a small scholarship in English in senior year, I was the only one, how ironic b/c I didn't do the best). For the most part my other credits were A's (maybe one or two A-). Now my first year of college (last yea…
