Rules:

 

  • State a word related to astronomy/astrophysics/cosmology.
  • The next person states a word that starts with the letter the previous word ends on.
  • Then state an interesting fact about that word.

I'll start

 

Pluto - Named after the Roman god of the underworld.

 

 

Ylem - primordial matter that formed all the elements

Yellow Dwarf. - An ordinary star such as the Sun at a stable point in its evolution.

Fornax

 

Constellation in southern sky, containing the Fornax dwarf galaxy, a satellite of the Milky Way, discovered in '38 by H. Shapley

Epsilon Eridani

 

Young orange star at a distance of 10.5 LY, and magnitude 3.7.

Known to have an exoplanet.

Nebula

 

Interstellar clouds of dust or Hydrogen/Helium.

Originally meant any 'nebulous' astronomical formation, including galaxies.

Alpha Centauri - the closest star to our solar system @ 4.37 light-years.

Inclination - Measure of the tilt of a planet's orbital plane.

Saros - the ~18 year cycle of alignment of the Earth, Moon, and Sun.

Sniope - a retrograde irregular satellite of Jupiter.

Eridanus Supervoid - An as yet unproven void between the filaments that define the structure of the universe, that would be the second largest void known (after the Giant Void).

Deimos- smaller of the two Martian moons,the name means dread.

Sagittarius

 

The 'archer' constellation which points to the center of the galaxy.
