Hello!

What brand and model of vacuum pump do you have, use and recommend?

or alternatively which model do you disrecommend?

Best Regards!

J. C.'s question is very important: the application is a critical influence on the kind of pumping system you use.

I asked what *you* use now. To learn brand name, and model id, to look up on the Internet, and read parameters. Check whether brand is available in my country.

Compare to what I used. And what recently shop owner offered me for $460. Whether it's fair price for parameters he mentioned..

I am not sure how useful that info is going to be as various types are used for wildly different applications. Just off the top of my head I got turbo pumps, roughing pumps, pumps for desiccators, vacuum dryers etc. Most of the expensive ones are from Edwards, but mostly for service/repair reasons (though they do make decent pumps with excellent reliability). Whether a price is good does not only depend on performance (which must match your application, obviously) but also how often it is used, whether you deal with corrosive gases, etc etc...

The price for my pumps range from about 500 to 17k USD a piece.

I use Varian. So far, VacIon Starcell 20l/s ion pumps for vacuum system operation. To get to the point where that can work we use a V-70 turbo pump combined with a SH-100 scroll pump. All are oil-free, which is important for us.

OK,

The vacuum pumps I use most often are my lungs (pretty much all the time) and one of these

In the lab I'd still make the decision based on what I want the pump for.
