Possibly. I think MP had a better knack at being absurd and surprising. For that alone I found it funnier than the more slapstick-oriented humour. Also I found the satirical note in movies such as the Life of Brian having just the bit more bite to it.

Monty Python was funnier overall - but Animal House is one of the funniest films ever made. Cop out answer - sorry

I would put Life of Brian in my list of top few films ever made - but the laugh out loudness of the humour is so black in parts (when you're chewing on life's gristle) that for a simple funny film I would go for less satire and more slapstick
