Signature/logo

Featured Replies

I'm pretty good with photoshop, and other people probably are too, and from what I know, many websites that have user-interfaces such as with forums allow users to have a sort of personal banner or logo or signature.

Users cannot, however, put any images in their signatures, because that generally leads to people piling in all sorts of random crap. I intentionally made signature text small and unobtrusive because the point is to read posts, not gaze upon acres of blinking signature banners.

You have your personal avatar displayed on the right of your posts, for which you could pick a logo.

I fourth that opinion with CR, CP and SJ. This is the best layout for a discussion forum compared to other sites.

When we've talked about this previously I have always expressed the view that images in/as signatures reduce the flow of the thread and just get in the way. I'm therefore opposed.

So, to solve this problem, why not just have a size limit? Like maybe the max can be like 150x2000 pixels?

The only thing that matters here is the meaning behind your words and not the visual style of the words. All I want to see is plain text. An avatar and a plain text sig. is sufficient means of individual expression without distracting from the core purpose of the forum which is to communicate information...it should not be a contest in who can shout the loudest visually which is how it will end up.

ROFL!

I guess it was already april fools day when you posted this?

I oppose ANY additional logos. You already have an avatar and a signature.

In addition, the size limit you propose is completely ridiculous. A banner of 150x2000 pixels would occupy so much of my screen that the Occupy Movement would be proud of you.

I guess you would like to make it an animated .gif too? Or, no, better... use flash! And make it a link to some external website. Viagra anyone?

Just couldn't take that serious... sorry if you were.
