Why write a haiku?

It's clearly peer pressure here.

Everyone writes them!

Think so I do not,

to my ear it good sounds not,

but I love Yoda.

 

To please rhymes it lacks,

vibrate my ear drum does not,

in a lovely way.

 

I really suck at this

Rhubarb, blah, Rhubarb,

is a synthetic substance

find it in your home

To write about these

lovely poems, the Haiku, is

very good and well

 

But to write about

a haiku within the bounds

of another, gah!

 

That way madness lies!

And to write about writing

A haiku within

 

The bounds thereof! -- I

Darkness falls on water deep

 

The heron knows both

Frigid arctic dawn!

Mean energy white fire blaze;

my toes have turned black.

Butterfly wings beat

Drumming softly across sky

Sacred mountain sleeps

Morning mirror glance,

pristine skinscape zit-marred now!

Pressure applied, yuck.

Late on Sunday night

mrsemmapeel was lost

The water ripples

Shimmering light on surface

My reflection bent

But sometimes they don't make sense
