Oh - I thought everyone could do that.

 

As you can probably tell from the wee red dot, I always hide my online status.

I also have a question:

Isthere a private forum for the mods, admins, and resident experts? Sometimes when I'm just browsing around SFN I click on user's profiles and it says they are viewing a thread, but it does not specify what thread. When I click on normal users' profiles it always says what thread. Are the mods/admins/experts viewing a thread in the private forum?

Yes we have a privite forum (3 in fact) where we gossip about you all.

 

Edit: that sort of gossiping is quite dangerous actually since we occasionally promote people to experts or mods and I worry that they will find some of the things I said about them behind their back.

I always read that as: if an expert tells you to behave, and you dont, you'll have a mod up your ass. (in other words, whilst they dont have any of the moderation board privellages, like being able to delete posts, their 'orders', as it were, carry the same weight as a mods).

If I have any mod powers I am certainly unaware of them. I have no extra buttons to press saying 'delete thread' or 'launch tactical nuke' or anything like that.

That`s Close but not quite, yes we Do pay more heed to our experts, but EVERYONE gets listened too, of That you may be Certain :)

I would have expected that IMM will quickly put an end to the admin-only porno collection.

I think the experts deserve a new icon. You could even have each type have different icons instead of stars! like Physics experts can have the atom model, and biologist have a DNA model. It would be so cool (and cheesy!). :D

I would have expected that IMM will quickly put an end to the admin-only porno collection.
Quite the opposite. Her additions to it have been refreshing and abundant. Her... vigorous appreciation for... artistic expression is quite... exhilarating.

Sometime in the future, do you think engineering and medicine experts will be added? I suppose these sections have to be more active first. Also would a pHD be required? I think most engineers do not obtain them

The "Nuke" button is in your User CP next to "Invade Sovereign Nation", but we'd NEVER give *you* anything as dangerous as "delete thread". :P

I am sure there are. I plan on getting a PhD for Material or Metallurgical Sciences. After I get my Engineering of course...hmm may take a while. Plus I think people will argue whether engineering is an exact science.
