Yeah but this photo has clearly been faked, by er,er, the shadowy cabal of paedophile Illuminati Lizard People, er, in a secret unminuted meeting of the Bilderberg Group......[repeat and fade].......😆

Moon landing deniers, and all other conspiracy theorists, can come up with so many ( un )plausible explanations while there is only one truth that uninformed people are unlikely to receive on their social media feeds.

But thanks for the lovely pic.

Nice image, I must have missed this in news feeds.

There are images from Chandrayaan-2, but I’m not sure this particular one is real. It’s higher in resolution, and the craters are different. Also, the shadow seems different (more triangular in this one) but that could be sun angle.

In view of @swansont 's comments, perhaps it would be worth you checking and letting us know where your image comes from. The thing about the craters is odd.

Shouldn't the flag and any other NASA paraphernalia be on the image, or was it blown away at take-off ?

Apollo 11 astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin plant a flag on the Moon.

Image was sent to me a while ago via Whatsup, moved to archives where I found a couple of days ago. Unknown source; but interesting same yellow hue font and markings on both being fake or both genuine ?

A possible source found ---> https://rootedrecipes.com/chandrayaan-2-confirms-apollo-11-legacy-with-stunning-moon-image/

Improving the rez does greatly reduce the crater-dome illusion that can manifest on grainier old images. You can dispel the illusion by concentrating for a moment, or just rotating image, but it is an odd experience. Greater detail seems to reduce the effect.

I recently saw an episode of QI in which it was suggested that the harsh conditions on the moon would probably have disintegrated the flags.

UV on nylon, yes that would go to powder by now. Great, now we've spread microplastics on the moon as well. 🤪

Nylon is like Dracula: tough as old boots in the dark, but turns to dust in the light. Lost a few big fish from using old nylon fishing line.
