If Humans forgot about all Religion, what could the Gods theoretically do about that?

I remember once a fascinating moment I read in the Jewish/Christian Bible where someone asked God "What do people do, who don't know you exist?" God replied "I made the Moon for people to Worship"

God made a failsafe in case people didn't know him.

Worshipping is deeply wrong. Worshipping is incompatible with questions. If I had any inkling of a god, I would batter it with questions before any worshipping took place.

But my feeling is gods could do nothing about that because imaginary beings are incapable of actual actions.

The Gods I've read about could send Angel messengers. Could have you have dreams and visions.

Angel messengers are just cultural derivatives of Middle Eastern mythologies (cherubim).

Dreams and visions have to do with the workings of the brain.

Anything they want if they exist.

Can you cite the book/Chapter? I don't know that one.

Really?

Deuteronomy 4:19, New Revised Standard Version, Updated Edition

And when you look up to the heavens and see the sun, the moon, and the stars, all the host of heaven, do not be led astray and bow down to them and serve them, things that the Lord your God has allotted to all the peoples everywhere under heaven.

For quite a long time, I've thought the Bible would be more convincing as the word of God if it had said something factually correct about the surface of Venus.

Just a reminder we are talking about all Gods.

God can make Camels talk.

Trust me.

The Roman Gods say that Venus is attractive.

This sounds odd. What book, chapter and verse is that?

Except for Matthew 24:2

And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

and vs 4,5,6 and 7.

the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.

For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

a few more till vs 29 which is a big one

Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

and finally finished with the famous.

So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.

34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

and Luke 21:20

20“But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near. 21Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those who are in the midst of her depart, and let not those who are in the country enter her. 22For these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.

and vs 25

“And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; 26men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 27Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.

Also is not the Apocalypse of John one big sign? An entire book?

No. The proper response is to cite chapter and verse.

With all due respect. I read the Bible a long time ago.

Yeah I noticed that to. Jesus said there will be no more signs from Heaven, but the final battle with Satan features loads of Heavenly involvement. Maybe the final battle takes place after everyone's whisked away.

Obviously not, the temple was destroyed in 70CE

As have we all, that is why we can cite the relevant chapter and verse.

I forgot this this from Acts, the author of Luke is thought to have also penned acts.

“I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below,

blood and fire and billows of smoke.

The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood

before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord.”

Acts 2:19–20

So you've made up that thing about worshipping the moon, haven't you?

It seems more likely that a part I liked about the Bible got changed after the revision and Update.

A total eclipse whilst the Moon is in a Harvest Moon Phase? Cool. Well there's Something a God can do to make people remember them.

My point was that you said there will be no more signs after Jesus, when in fact the NT is full of statements about signs after Jesus. Even Jesus said there will be signs after Jesus.

THE New English Bible; standard edition with apocrypha; oxford/cambridge

The Gods could turn the Moon red whilst there's a Solar eclipse, cool. Best thing to come out of this Thread so far.

Yes and I gave you chapter and verse. I have given you multiple citations from the NT where the text explicitly states that there will be signs AFTER Jesus. Luke, Matthew, Acts and pretty much the entire book of The Apocalypse of John.

So this contradicts what you said about there being no signs after Jesus.

It would be nice if you acknowledged that point and demonstrate you are posting in good faith.

Fair enough. At the risk of repeating myself can I have the chapter and verse where he said that please?
