Doesn't a hole get full when filled up?

If it is filled up, it is no longer a hole now, is it?

(Full up, that is, it no longer is a hole)

The full up part is a decoy, that makes you think someone is eating something.

That just means it can't be the answer. As you say, if it's filled it ceases to be a hole that can be filled.

It has to be an ocean. You can take stuff out of it, but if you keep filling it it never gets full, just bigger.

I do believe, it said you can fill me up, (which shows some progression to being asbsolutely filled up).

(Hence again, full up, is not exactly being filled up).

An Ocean... but the ocean is never taken out...

You can take stuff out of me,
Works for both a hole and an ocean.
But if you fill me up, i never get full...
Works for an ocean, since an ocean can be filled but never gets full. Doesn't work for a hole, which when full is no longer, by definition, a hole.

What am I?
An ocean is one answer that works.

An Ocean... but the ocean is never taken out...
The riddle says "stuff" is taken out. We take fish out of the ocean. But even if it's the ocean itself, the ocean is taken out by evaporation, and then replaced through precipitation.

I don't know about the last two on that list but:

The pattern suggests:

You are correct, sir! Very well done, indeed. Give that man a prize. :D

Per the last two on the list, here's some addt'l info for context (although, you already got the correct answer, so it's just FYI):

[hide]

[*]Cher was a famous pop-star in the 60s, 70s, and 80s.

[*]Lucy and Desi were actors in the 1950s comedy, I love Lucy with Lucille Ball. Desi Arnaz played Lucy's husband, Ricky Ricardo.[/hide]

Nice, what I didn't know regarding the last two was 1) Cher's personal life (knew of her public life quite well) so I didn't have the facts to verify that, and 2) never watched enough Lucy to verify if we "never" saw that either.

Nice riddle though, reminded me of the South Park episode with the question "People that annoy you" considering what first popped into my head. :D
