What is f(x) − f(x + 2) if f(x + 1) = x(x + 2)?

It is an equation. You just need to manipulate the values and you can get your answer.

  If you let u= x+ 1, x= u- 1 and x+ 2= u+ 1.  So what is f(u)?  What is f(x) for any x?

f(x+1)= x(x+2) ---> f(x+1)= (x+1-1).(x+1+1)   ----> f(x)=(x-1).(x+1)    and  f(x+2)= (x+2-1).(x+2+1)=(x+1).(x+3)

f(x)-f(x+2)= x²-1 - x²+4x+3= 4x+2

I don't agree  with answer. I think  'inverse'  forgot to change sign...
