  1. So what you're saying is TIME TRAVEL HAS NO EFFECT, THEREFORE ISN'T PARADOXICAL! And what's this about Relativity?
  2. I didn't say you were wrong, I said that the use of a linear model explained why your argument did not make sense. It does not make sense in the same way that a movie would not make sense if it were viewed in the order in which the scenes were shot, not in the sense that it is 'incorrect'. Thinking of time travel as movement along an axis is too primitive an analogy to give an accurate idea of what is happening, which is why humans come up with these hilarious notions such as physical paradoxes and impossible causality arrangements. I would not accuse you of being 'wrong' as I have as much evidence of this as you do that you are 'right'.
  3. Time travel is possible, just to complicated for the human mind to concieve the only possible way. How does that sound?
  4. Star Trek 'Enterprise'. At leat thats were I get all of my time travel theorys from anyway.
  5. WHAT?! You're in 7th grade and you're talking about schwartzchild radiation?! Great stuff! Anyhow, by "cool nerd" faf means picking an advanced subject and describing it way beyond the comprehension of your targeted audience I disagree though, do time travel. It'll at least hold their attention. You could explain the basic principles of relativity and go from there.
  6. What about mutliple histories[theory]? this might be able to "cancel out" some, if not all, the paradoxical consiquences of time travel.
  7. Dudde

    Time.

10000 years ago writing in one language across several continents wouldn't have been thought possible...HECK several continents wouldn't have been thought possible! however, I think it would be in the human races' best interest to not study too far into time travel, too much could go wrong for such a little gain
  8. Hardly. It's nothing new. In fact the grandfather paradox, as this is an instance of, isn't the best regarded proof for the impossibility of time travel. Most people with the faintest notion of temporal mechanics laugh at this theory in much the same way that one would laugh at people who claim "you lose 70% of your body heat through your head".
  9. *Nothing to add information wise.* I watched a good show on the science discorvery channel about Time travel. If I wasn't so lazy and about to go to taco bell I would write something, but im just asking if anyone saw the same show I saw. It was called "Understanding".
  10. I'm reading: "Web of Belief" (Quine) and "Time Travel in Einstein's Universe" (dunno author off top of my head).
  11. I doubt there will be ant protection as such. I think that either there will be casual loops, or that current thinking is actually wrong, and the universe won't allow time travel in the first place. failing that we can always fall back on one of the more exotic theories, such as multiple universes.
  12. I believe the great modern mind of Jose Cuervo came up with practicle solutions to achieving 3 of 4 of the postulates: I have been invisible a few times (invisibility) I have noticed that currency in my wallet simply disappears and instantly appears in some dancer's G-string (teleportation) I have actually started off on a Friday and found myself at work on Monday, without experiencing saturday or sunday (time travel)
