  1. I will listen to what they have to say if they can tell me how to live safely with these....

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terrorist_organization

Their are a lot of them and don't anyone tell me that leaving evil alone will stop the killings or the inhuman oppression of women in the name of Allah as witnessed in Afghanistan.

Its worse than a lack of forsight. Its burying your head in the sand like a coward would do. I don't like killing of any kind, but what do you do if they want to kill you

  2. That link won't work either. I even tried accessing the web site using Firefox from my other computer' date=' and all I get is this:

    [img']http://bluealan.homestead.com/firefox.jpg[/img]

Also, the Firefox start page has not worked for several days on my computer with Firefox. I know my firewall isn't blocking the site because I use two different firewalls. One computer is using the Windows firewall, and the other is using ZoneAlarm. The Firefox web sites will not load on either computer. Is anybody else having trouble accessing these web sites?

No. The link works fine for me too...

It could be your router because your exact problem happened to me with another site awhile back. I have a Netgear MR814 and this is what my friend told me to do which fixed the problem. You might be able to apply it to your kind of router....

    Bee

    1. Go to your router login setup screen and click on "Basic settings"

    2. Click on "Router Status"

    3. Write down the primary and secondary DNS server IP addresses.

    4. Go back to "Basic Settings" and scroll down to DNS sections.

    5. Click on "Use the following DNS servers" instead of automatic options.

    6. Type in the entrys you wrote down in step 3.

    7. Save the settings and log out.

    8. Go to the command prompt and type "ipconfig /flushdns" (without the quotes)

    9. Try reconnecting to your web site.

  3. I couldn't find a free software one for you but here is an idea my friend told me.

He said to buy a timer (the ones used to turn lights on or off at different times of the day) and plug your cable modem into that. Some timers have keys so you can lock it.

Your modem would only turn on at the times you specify....

  4. Anyone know anthing about the Ionic Breeze from "Sharper Image"?

We bought one once and didn't like it for some reason; apparently it cycled the air too slowly.

So does it work (or any of Sharper Image products for that matter)' date=' or is it just another fad type thing?[/quote']

A consumers magazine that we subscribe too clasified that device as junk. Its just a fad thing... sorry. :-(

  5. Actually, on a lighter note, we were entertaining the idea of a new kind of bombing campaign over there. We need to send a constant stream of B-52's dropping Ipods, X-Box's, porn, fast food, pot, computers - we need to bring America to them. Once the citizens get ahold of all this fun stuff, they might actually consider "living" for a change....hmm imagine that.

You made me laugh.... :) :-) Thanks.

But this is what I've always thought too... except for the porn and pot. Magazines with pictures would be a great idea for them to see what their government is not allowing them to see or have.

    I like that idea...

  6. No' date=' not secretly. Something like that will not be and cannot be kept secret. I don't happen to think that everyone in Iran is crazy or "evil" (i hate that word, it's been hijacked). I think the [i']threat[/i] of producing a nuclear weapon is more effective for Iran than actually producing one. If they do manage to suitably enrich enough uranium and make a warhead (unlikely, IMO), I find it even less likely they would launch it at Israel (as this would mean Iran's assured destruction by Israel, possible by nuclear retaliation).

I accept that I am going to get slammed for my opinion, but it is just that, an opinion. I see Iran as the next "evil" country of choice to distract the voters.

Thanks for the honest opinion and I won't slam you.

First, I believe their intentions of pursuing nuclear power for peaceful purposes is a lie. Iran sits on huge oil reserves that would easily and more inexpensively satisfy all of their power requirements now and in the future.

What you see is a disguise for their true intention of building a weapon but I do agree with you that using it on Israel would be self annihilation. However, they could sell it to countries that would use it and done right so the finger cannot be pointed back to them. At least they would think that.

As far as Iran being evil. IMO it very much is. There is hard evidence obtained by many countries that Iran and Syria have their hands deep into terrorism. In reference to the middle east, the word evil is not being overused. It describes people who plan and target civilians for destruction. Not soldier killing soldier but soldiers purposely killing as many innocent civilians as possible. Women, children, babies are their primary targets.

I don't know what all the threats are, but Iran is tops on my list and should be stopped from going any further.

    Bettina

  7. To be fair' date=' what I said, was exactly what I was trying to point out. I did not mean to infer that Israel was purposely targeting civilians, what I meant (and did say) is that Israel is willing to accept the deaths of [i']X[/i] number of civilians in order to achieve its aims, and further asked what sort of civilian casualties they are willing to accept. I believe this this is a legitimate question, if not a pleasant one. I perhaps should have been less ambiguous.

I accept that this probably was not on-topic, however I was trying to illustrate a point. Everything that Bettina said in that post I was replying to is her opinion, an opinion which I share about several other countries, including my own (thus the comment). I also believe the threat from Iran is mostly a creation of politicians (but that is for another thread); some people seem to have a belief that the current crisis has been directly instigated by Iran. To my knowledge there is very little, if any, evidence to support this.

Yes, it is my opinion but its based on the actions of Irans president that I see and read every day.

I have a question for you....

Do you believe (your opinion) that Iran is secretly trying to produce a nuclear weapon?

    Bee

  8. That made me laugh.... You could just easily replace "Iran" with "USA" in that sentence and would still be true.

But seriously I think people give Iran way more credit than its due.

I won't argue with that. I have issues with my government too. :)

  9. Blow them up, and that's what we've always done. It's certainly effective if done well. Negotiations with the sort of people they are would probably end up angering someone else - for example, negotiating and coming to a deal with one ethnic group in Iraq would probably end up with another ethnic group being angered over the deal and trying to blow someone else up.

Exactly. How does one deal with the Hamas government that still calls for the destruction of Israel at any cost.

    Bee

  10. Uhoh...

    http://news.monstersandcritics.com/middleeast/printer_1182138.php

But Iran would never stoop so low... right? Looking for a pretext to launch military attacks...

Iran is a country run by a liar and that liar takes orders from other liars. They won't take on Israel directly but rather in some sort of clandestine operations to keep the conflict going. This buys them time to continue pursuing nuclear weapons. But yes, they would stoop that low to do some clandestine activities.

  11. ter·ror·ism ( P ) Pronunciation Key (tr-rzm)

    n.

The unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments' date=' often for ideological or political reasons.

Fighting terrorism isn't all about guns and bombs. This is what I was trying to explain. As long as people feel the need to join in the terrorist group, you will always have problems. The ideology is limitless. If you fight them, they will fight back harder, you give them reason to exist. In that case the violence is justified.

I am not saying just let it go either, but you have to understand too that by interfering you could and most likely will be putting people at risk, peoples families. In chao, it's natural to want to jump in to save something. It's very hard to sit an watch a situation that you can not change alone, but there are other solutions.[/quote']

I understand what your saying but terrorists have an agenda that is offensive.... not defensive. Like Gutz said, they want Israel out of the middle east or destroyed altogether and no amount of cease fire will cure that. Then when Israel is gone, they will seek other infidels.

Say the US does go in, it stops for maybe a few months, then they leave. What in our history tell us that they wont just go at it again?

    Libya for one.

The best solution is to get the two to stop fighting on their own. If not how are you going to stop them without going in and possibly killing not only people from the middle east, but people from NA/europe/etc.

People are going to die. It's a really hard fact to swallow. I think rash thoughts and actions can be as dangerous as waiting it out.

This is why I hate the lack of power of the UN. It's so pointless to have it if the one thing it was created for, it can't even do.

What you must do is stop the literal teachings of Islam to young people but I don't know how that can be done without invading the country and changing the government. Like you said, the UN is a pointless organization that has no real power, so to me, its the responsibility of the civilized nations..... all of them.... to fight it. What bothers me are the countries (and people) who bury their head in the sand and wait for it to go away. It won't.

  12. Is there a software which allows full virus scan and removal before entering the XP?

MY computer was attacked by a virus and cannot boot to the

    Window bar screen.

Yes, McAfee which I pay a yearly fee for, does just that. It scans your computer before windows starts and then onward from that. I've had it for two years now and never got a virus....

  13. Amen ! Terrorists would have to find very destructive weapons if they want to compete against famine, poverty and illness. It would take them a couple of well-placed nuclear attack just to do "as good" as the massacres in Sudan (nearly half a millions lives lost). They're not worth a medal in a "what's Earth worst problem" contest. Yet, we're brought to believe every dollar spent in security is a dollar well spent, because "the war on terror" is the main international problem of this new millenium. I'm sure they enjoy the attention. Newsmedia are only interested in the middle east, terrorists, or the lastest beautiful woman kidnapped or killed.

I disagree. Terrorists DO have destructive weapons and their being taught how to use them every day. The middle east IS the breeding ground and even today their children are still being taught to hate and kill Jews and infidels. Iran IS the biggest problem that the world faces today and to put nukes in the hands of religious mullahs who wish Israel destroyed is something that cannot be allowed.

The "war on terror" is very real. Its just that people like Severian choose to ignore it. He seems to be trying to smooth over his remarks now, but his earlier posts tell me all I have to know about his mindset. He's very good at what he does and that mindset appears in many countries who wish to stand idle and let some other country worry about fighting terrorism.

  14. Bettina is not worth replying to in her biggotry, but I expect more from you. You know very well that I don't support Hezbollah.

Biggotry agains Terroists? Again, that was the response I expected from you. But don't worry, when those who fight terrorism in order to make the world a better place, you and those that think like you, will get it free.

I am proud of what our soldiers are doing and proud of Israel too. Again, hide and keep safe.

    Bettina

  15. The biggest question to me is why should I care what happens in the Middle East anymore? Both sides have shown that they are not willing to compromise - they both seem to want to fight to the death. Maybe it is time we let them?

If it is your perception that they are a problem then it is you and your country who has to do something about it. I do not perceive them as a problem' date=' so why should I get involved?

I would much prefer my government spend my money sorting out Africa than the Middle East.

Tell me, is Afghanistan less of a problem for the west or more of a problem than it was 10 years ago? How about Iraq?[/quote']

Your way of thinking was expected so I'm not stunned by your attitude. Sit back and let some other country fight evil for you. Get uninvolved. Build a brick house. Raise the Iranian flag over it and change it to whoever is a threat at the moment.

This is not a personal attack. Your in a very large group of people who turn a blind eye to the evil that faces civilization.

    Bettina

  16. Personally, I would hope the United States, in its fight against terrorism, would take Syria BEFORE it takes on Iran, since a war with Iran (with its capabilities) would DEFINATELY draw a third world war, or at least something quite similar to that.

I think I would reverse that order. Iran is much more evil than Syria and has been taunting the world with its anti Jewish remarks more openly and are looking to build Nuclear weapons under the guise of nuclear power. They aren't fooling me one bit.

Iran is a world problem and I don't like the idea of my country doing all the dirty work.

There is also, in my view, another thing worth understanding: There is a BATTLE that is done in Lebanon and Israel, but the war has already commenced around the entire world. What israel is fighting right now are the same people who branched out of the cells that attacked Embasies, blew out planes and taken down the Twin Towers in the name of Islam.

This battle should be won, but the war itself would demand much more work from many other countries other than israel..

    ~moo

Exactly. And add blowing up supermarkets full of women and kids which is their specialty. I'm sorry to say this but the "other countries" you mentioned are cowards.

    Bee

  17. That isn't true. If we restrict light to travel in the plane aswell then the light will be reflected by the 2d second flatlaner and bounce back to the first, allowing him to see his friend.

I believe it is true. In Michio Kaku's book, HYPERSPACE, which I have read, flatlanders cannot see up or down in their two-dimensional world and cannot see you looking down at them. All they see are other lines. When a sphere passes thru their world they see a varying line from small to big then to small again.

But, for the flatlander to see another it must have some inherent thickness.

    Bettina

  18. on my wanderings through the intar web i found this cool flash to help you visualise 10 dimensions in our universe. it sorta makes sense.

    http://www.tenthdimension.com/flash2.php

Caution: may cause explosion of brain and reduce you to a gibbering vegetable.

It was a cool video and I somewhat understand the meaning of it. However, I have a hard time believing in string theory no matter how many articles I read on it.

BTW, a true flatlander would not be able to see another flatlander unless he had some minimal height. In fact, he would see nothing.
