War Games in the Middle East
Actually the UK had set up a constitutional monarchy/parliamentary democracy with the Shah as the monarch and all of the financial benefits from the oil industry going to the UK government as taxes with very little for Iran. A democratic government was elected that put forward legislation to nationalize the oil industry and the Shah approved that legislation so the UK were upset and embargoed Iran. Somehow the US became involved and while they were initially on Iran's side the CIA eventually co opted a powerful general and induced the Shah to sign a document that replaced the PM/government with a compliant one without having another election. The author of this article doesn't seem to understand how a constitutional monarchy/parliamentary democracy actually works so it isn't very surprising that he makes the same mistakes that the US made in the 1950's.

War Games in the Middle East
Googles AI has been evolving it's response on "iran democracy 1953" over the past couple of days. "In 1953, Iran experienced the overthrow of its democratically elected government led by Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddegh in a coup d'état orchestrated by the CIA and MI6. This event, known as the 1953 Iranian coup d'état, significantly impacted Iran's political landscape and is still a point of contention in Iranian-Western relations." It previously mentioned the monarchy imposed by the UK/US and stated that it was done to 'protect' their oil interests that had been nationalised by the democratic government.

US senator being arrested for asking questions?
Apparently he didn't identify himself and was considered a threat so that's why the events happened.

The 2025 Australian Federal Election
Australia will be a great opportunity to see how a minimalist campaign like the Democrats last US Presidential election, e.g. "we've been in power for 1 term so re elect us again because we're going to do all these things that we didn't already do, but could have", would have turned out.

How to kill a small animal to shorten its suffering?
Around 20 years ago a friend of mine worked as an Environmental Officer (degree qualified) at a 4.5 star Environmental resort and he came across a Wallaby that had been badly hit by a vehicle. As he was over 1 km from the Environment center and didn't want to extend the animals pain he grabbed a large stick and bashed its head three times to put it out of its misery. Unfortunately there was a guest on a boat nearby who videoed it and made his life a misery for doing the right thing. A later job for another environmental company at an airport required him to locate and destroy the nests and eggs of relatively large birds (Ibis) that were in a swamp to prevent 'bird strike' accidents

Political Humor
The surname, which is also found in Finland, may also be of German origin (see 1 above). Jewish (Ashkenazic): artificial name from German Berg 'mountain, hill', or a short form of any of the many artificial surnames containing this word as the final element, for example Schönberg (see Schoenberg ) and Goldberg .

Twenty-five years since Y2K, lord what a bruhaha.
I charged a client $ 550 to Y2K proof their booking system software, no bonuses, but it took many 10's of thousands of dollars to transfer their software from FP DOS 2.6 to VFP 6.0.

Making tiny bubbles in very alcaline Portland cement ?
Sorry, 1920's. I have worked in a materials testing laboratory and sub standard products which have been manufactured with poor materials and poor procedures usually fail when tested. On the other hand properly quality assured products will last until their design life says so unless they are used in sub standard construction methods.

Contrails to Steer or De-energize Hurricanes
Probably better off using re entering space junk. Between the mid 1960's and the mid 1970's the central east coast of Australia had things called 'Cyclone banks' which were sand banks in the ocean that were 100 meters or so out from the normal beach break sandbanks which usually only broke (10 foot + waves) during cyclones. If you had started surfing there around 50 years ago you would know them well. After the mid 1970's they disappeared and haven't really come back yet, mainly due to sand dredging/bypass operations at two main river mouths since. Back then it was only the Apollo program that would dump stage 3 rocket boosters in the eastern pacific but now with China, the US and a couple of other countries having active space programs who knows.

On the world-wide trend of anti-establishment voting.
LOL, I live at Rupert Murdoch's ground zero. Queensland Newspapers (QNP) was the last Murdoch family media asset that was sold to NEWS CORP. We've been aware of him and all of his buddies for ages and BTW, in Australia he keeps the left wingers in political power.

On the world-wide trend of anti-establishment voting.
LOL, I didn't swallow the BS the mass media have been broadcasting.

On the world-wide trend of anti-establishment voting.
The people who bought what the media was selling have already bought it.

On the world-wide trend of anti-establishment voting.
Some people tend to discount the appeal of candidates who are not beholden to the vested interests of the mainstream political parties (who have both bases covered with only establishment candidates). Many people around the world (and the 8 million who didn't bother to vote for Kamala) wonder why the so called left wing US mainstream party supports a right wing regime that has no qualms with killing women and children en masse? Also, while people with aeronautical engineering qualifications and their friends might think the economy is great others, who's family future would be assured with a basic factory job and the ability to get to the first rung of the ladder, might have different opinions. There have been far too many right wing reforms pushed through around the world by nominal left wing political parties and people are getting fed up with it.

Cuban Missile Crisis Hypothetical
I actually got to know an old American friend of my dads pretty well, a retired professor from Kansas State, who holidayed at his place for the 2 weeks before the election and, while our media is just as bad as in the US, at least we didn't get all the advertisements, I think that was why he was here in the first place LOL.

Cuban Missile Crisis Hypothetical
You can't imagine half of it, watching the United States of America decay from a distance is very concerning for the rest of the world. I come from a country where we don't have a death penalty because if one innocent person should die due to a failure in the due legal process it would be one innocent death too many. I live in a state where the politicians socialised the power system and made the hospital system free after WWI SO THAT THE FASCISTS WOULDN'T TAKE THEM OVER. My family came to Australia from Ireland during the American Civil war and my grandfather wasn't born last century but the century before. I had a late great aunt who was born in the early 1890's and went to America as a young girl with her family in the late 1890's. She never married, became a nun, and in the early 1960's became a presentation nun called Sister Saint Anthony who resided at San Antonio TX until she passed away in the mid 1990's in a hospital in Fort Worth aged 104. iNow, I've also known you for nearly 20 years and your attack is out of character, in fact the entire way the right of the left is blaming the real old left of the left (e.g. Bernie Sanders) who deserted them (about 8 million of them who didn't vote and the others who went to Trump) because they wouldn't do anything about the slaughter of the innocents occurring in Gaza. Also if Russia drops atomic missiles on Keiv/Kyiv, it won't start WWIII so the right of the left has instigated another potential massacre of the innocents due to its petty political machinations. My late great aunt is probably turning in her grave at this very moment, over what a once great country and a great political party has stooped to in its decline. Bernie Sanders

Cuban Missile Crisis Hypothetical
About the only thing I will say about Critical Thinking on this site is that if others have other accounts on the other site I posted this hypothetical on it seems as if none of them use the same name on both sites. That means this site is where they say things that they wouldn't say on the other site and this site is where they dishonestly troll their biased opinions. BYW, it appears that NATO leaders are worried that they will be drawn into a global nuclear war if RUSSIA retaliates on either the UK or US mainland.

Just for those who are a bit slow. So the big question is, if Cuba launched Russian missiles at US mainland targets, HOW MANY NUCLEAR WEAPONS WOULD THE US LAUNCH AT CUBA?

Choosing how you will die
Raphaelh42, some Australian states like Queensland have voluntary assisted dying (euthanasia) legislation for people who meet the eligibility criteria. You may find some answers to your philosophical questions in the structure of the following link. Eligibility criteria for voluntary assisted dying
