  1. Indeed and long may it continue, I'm just concerned that our approach in this case, given our proclivity to panic and/or overreact, may lead to our downfall, given enough time and guess'
  2. Several dips into the lottery, doesn't raise the probability by much. Let's say it takes 36 months or 72, when does the bet lose money; even if you win?
  3. It does seem like we're making a rather large bet on a rather small probability...
  4. Thank you Eise, that's very constructive. I have always struggled in converting my ideas into an essay (if I'm honest a couple of paragraphs can sometimes be a challenge) so, like a blind person, I compensate with other abilities. You're never going to let that TLDR rest, are you... ๐Ÿ˜”
  5. None taken, though not everything in a discussion is a question. Resistance is futile...
  6. Whilst I understand that my posts are lacking intelligence on this issue (compared to you both); being ignored doesn't add to that intelligence...
  7. In the context of this particular analogy (off-topic jaunt) it doesn't suggest anything not least an argument for free will; either way. Most of our external forces are more of an influence. In a direct reply to the title of this thread: MEH... what can ya do?
  8. Seems to me that your friends are limiting the alcohol's ability to hurt you.
  9. I think it's safe to say, you'd be far far far less susceptible... None of the above... It's my (limited) understanding that blood has little to do with it, other than transport.
  10. It's that type of question that makes me wonder...

    Depends on the context...
  12. Sensei is undoubtably educated and intelligent and normally a measured poster, so the word hysteria seems valid, or maybe panic.
  13. The best way to deal with a new virus is to stop it at source, so the action of the authorities will automatically be disproportionate to the actual risk. That leads (in this case) to hysteria, mostly because it's dominated the news even though, in terms of population, it's only affected a handful of people; the worst thing we can do is (be hysterical) add to the hysteria, because that creates fear and fear is the mind killer. So if you want to help those poor people who are directly affected by this, take a step back, don't be afraid, and use the intelligence we all know you have.

Kind of what I thought, no twist to the context.

Feels like I'm missing a lot of context. But I'm sure it could be funny...
  16. Indeed, or climate change... Or we could always relax and worry about what's for dinner... ๐Ÿ™„ It's being scared of the future that gets us up this 'shit creek' in the first place.
  17. perhaps the thought occurs at the convergence of the stimuli.
  18. can you choose not to be you? But thats also why I lean towards Eise in this. iNow, while we are a product of our seed and canโ€™t choose the ground, we can choose to feed Iโ€™m not saying youโ€™re right btw Dissily Mordentroge, because youโ€™re not...
  19. Salt cellar, Iโ€™d imagine... ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™ƒ

That makes me wonder who's side they're on?
