  1. At this Camp I am attending a Professor of Statistics posed this question to the class: So basically you want to find out how fast you need to go from B to A to average a speed of 60mph. If you know the answer could you please explain it. I think I know it but am not sure.
  2. Although I agree that they do water down science I think their results are still valid one of them use AC current and salsa to try to erode a bar and nothing happened while another converted the AC current to DC and used the same salsa and greatly reduced the diameter of the bar. But please do keep us posted on the experiment.
  3. To continue on my little description imaginary numbers are very useful in many field. They are used in electronics, physics and where even behind Riemann's Hypothesis.
  4. Captain I have the same question I think we are discussing something along the lines of the information paradox but I am not really sure.
  5. Relativity would be his field. Most of his time was spent studying and creating general and special relativity. Or you could just say he was a theoretical physicist but that is just a broad term.
  6. One senators opinion matters not becuase he is representing millions of people plus that senator is a current presidental canidate who claims to want to change the political process. It looks like he is doing the exact oppisite of what he says he will do if he is elected presedent
  7. Although genetics does have a role in the decisions we make I believe that our political solcialaztion has much more to due with a person voting or not.
  8. It posted in both forums and had a few questions. I did you want a brief description for the links and where those links I posted in the Frequentally Asked Questions section along the lines of what you had in mind.
  9. As said previously nothing should happen becuase the charges are swhtiching. A similar thing to this happened on the Mythbusters when they tried there prision break episode.

  11. United States Supreme Court Decision on "District of Columbia v Heller", concerning the District's ban on firearms. (Warning: PDF!) The Wikipedia also has a lengthy, sourced article on the case here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/District_of_Columbia_v._Heller
  12. I speak English and am a fourth year high school Spanish student if that counts for anything.
  13. It is not cost effective but if you are interested in trying to save money on gas try and look into converting your engine to run on used vegetable oil. I forget what modifications it requires but once it is set up right your car can run on used vegetable oil that you normally can get for free from restaurants.
  14. I feel that I can imagine the vastness of space.
  15. I found them all to be fairly easy but if I had to rank them on there difficulty I would say: Chemistry Physics Biology This is going from hardest to easiest and as I said before they are all fairly easy. PS: This was just a prediction because I have physics this year but I am sure it will be harder than Biology because Biology was the easiest class I have ever take in.
  16. An imaginary number is any number with [math]i[/math] in it. As said before [math]i[/math] is not a variable but rather somewhat of a constant. It is used to sole equations which have no real solutions. For example try and find a answer to [math]\sqrt{(-2)}[/math]: As you quickly see there is no answer because [math]\sqrt{(x)}=y[/math] where [math]y^{2}=x[/math] and if you square any number you get a positive because if for example [math]y=-2[/math] then [math](-2)^{2}=-2\cdot-2=4[/math]. But surely there must be an answer right. So a long time ago mathematicians like Euler and Gauss came up with the idea of creating a imaginary number. This number is [math]i[/math]. The entire idea of this was to use it to represent solutions to systems that otherwise could not be represented. Here is a little bit on how [math]i[/math] works. For starts [math]i[/math] is normally defined as having a value equal to [math]\sqrt{(-1)}[/math] So [math]i^{2}=-1[/math]. Knowing this you should be able to figure out an power of [math]i[/math]. But here is a table of some of them. [math]i^{-3}=i i^{-2}=-1 i^{-1}=-i i^{0}=1 i^{1}=i i^{2}=-1 i^{3}=-i i^{4}=1 i^{5}=i i^{6}=-1 [/math] As you can see there is a pattern and this pattern repeats. Another use for imaginary numbers is using the to write complex numbers. A complex number is a number written in [math]a+bi[/math] form where a and b are real numbers. Here are some links that I hope help you: http://www.math.toronto.edu/mathnet/answers/imaginary.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Complex_number http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imaginary_number http://www.purplemath.com/modules/complex.htm I hope this answered your questions if not ask again and I will try to help you. PS: The answer to [math]\sqrt{(-2)}\approx1.41421i[/math].
  17. I was playing lacrosse and was about to shoot when a kid cross checked me from behind in the back of the head. That hurt but not to bad. But when I ran track I pulled something in my back which made it painful to walk it wasn't a incredible bad pain but because it was constant it made me feel horrible.

I really like the new FireFox but I still use Internet Explorer for most of my browsing I guess I am just use to it.

    learning Physics

Right know I have a very limited knowledge off physics. Anything I have learned I have taught myself by reading books and surfing the Internet. Oh and I have spent the last two weeks at a physics camp at the University of Michigan where I have learned a lot. I am taking high school physics this year and I am hoping though to get an undergraduate then a graduate degree in physics.
  20. As stated they were disrupting a peaceful gathering. But if I came to hear the President speak to celebrate the birth of our country and a bunch of people where yelling and running around I would be angry to say the least. The protesters showed no respect for the fact that the other people in the crowd where trying to listen and to enjoy the speech.
  21. I am against Eugenics I see it as something that has and normally does lead to racism and division. But I am for something similar. I am for people who are wanting kids to see if the have any recessive genes, that cause health problems, that would show in there off springs.
  22. What if there was an infinite amount of gravity in the supposed infinite number of universe. I did not think we knew exactly how much gravity there is.
  23. The Olympics is about sports not politics. But it can and should be used to raise awarness to a cause. I feel the best way to raise awarness for Tibet would be by having all American athletes or maybe all athletes in general where a patch and or symbol to represent Tibet. Also President Bush could use the games as a forum to discuss the issuse of Tibet.
  24. Normally when you go from REM quickly you begin to feel bad. Also because in REM you are paralyzed in order to keep you from acting out your dream when you quickly go from REM to awake you sometimes remain paralyzed.
  25. As said you need a very impractical fusion reaction. But what you are talking about is alchemy not chemistry. People have tried for hundreds of years and as far as I know no one has ever succeeded.
