Sol'n: Not Possible. if you can solve for 55 you can solve for 1 = [55-(3*18)] So lets solve for 1 start with the middle number a and let 0 denote unknown 0 0 0 0 a 0 0 0 0 now for 4 of the lines we have 0 a 0 = 1. Thus all four are of the form x a (1-x-a) = 1...let us choose x,y,z,w to represent each of the four lines. Therefore: (x) (y) (z) (1-w-a) (a) (w) (1-z-a) (1-y-a) (1-x-a) Thus the remaining four lines represent the edges of the box. [1] x+y+z = 1, [2] 3(1-a)-(x-y-z) = 1 [3] ............ [4] ........... now insert [1] into [2] : [2] --> 3(1-a)=2 ---> 1-a = 2/3---> a= 1/3 but a must be whole...UNSOLVABLE.

  5. i started with pascal(moved on to matlab/C/C++/Fortran)...but anyways with all the learn in 24 help books you can find in bookstores and ebooks C++ is just as easy as any other language. However its best to start with C because alot of C++ starts with a C foundation and the things in C are so much simpler. People think basic is easier because they dont' want to look at the ugliness of C++ (but if you program it right there shouldn't be any). Pick up the C++ For game programmimng alot of tips and of course the SAMS C++ in 24 days that gives anyone a very good foundation in C++ ....also Lamothe's Windows programming gives you waht you need interms of GUIs

  7. well ...presumably the stomach(specifically the sphincter) cannot shut permanently when you full...else what happens if it gets stuck? you won't be able to eat which i hope is anevolutionary thing. Also lots of fluid there so i doubt it could close. The place to stop the food frmo getting in is your mouth and if you can't control that your screwed.
  8. yeah i'd have to say both.... cuz i get munchies all the time..and my stomach sometimes tells me its full but my brain tells me to eat or munch on something. But sometimes the stomach is hungry. So your bathroom situation is probably the same, you get chemical single set to your brain when your full and you need to um do bowel movement ...but becasue of the regularity of this...sometimes your brain just tells you to do it anwyays. even if you ain't got anything to shat out
  9. sorry didn't see that i was using caps. and i disagree that biochem is the most multidisplinary. Biophys and Neural comp I would argue to be more diverse.
  10. UM....HOW ABOUT A MULTIDISCIPLINARY FIELD SINCE THE PURE FIELDS of SCIENCE BIOLOGY, CHEMISTRY, MATH and PHYSICS are being taken over by a combination of them. And if your aiming for grad school can't go wrong with a backup subject. What really matters is taht the programme is structured strongly in its supposed feel. ie. 1)Biogenetic engineering (or whatever you wanna call it) 2)Biochemistry (this is one of the older mulit fields) 3)Biophysics (frmo what i know this has risen quickly in the science standards and it self is fascinating esp if your studying neurons) 4)Astrochemistry(i think this is highly related to geophysics) 5)Chem and Physics 6)Neuropsychology 7)Medical Imaging/Satellite Imaging 8)NanoTech (chem and phys at the nano level) 9)Combine anything with computer science...gives you two ways to attack a science problem (experimental and simulated) THERE ARE MORE OF COURSE NOTE with the those related to phys and chem you should get a solid foundation in applied math. BUT MAY I SUGGEST MY OWN FIELD COMPUTATIONAL COGNITIVE/NEURO SCIENCE(or when i took it in school Neural COmputation) Its a very interesting field and deals with learning and adaptation in the brain and in artificial agents. 2 parts really you could do brain modelling or using models of the brain to simulate intelligence. You should gain foundations in Neural Networks, Mathematics and neuroscience. But also look for a programme with a stern foundation in PROGRAMMING(my programme lacked this part) Also with NN/math/cs you learn very apllicable in industry for fields that do any sort of recognition(face,writing,speech) like cell phones.
  11. if there has always been something an dyou believe god is this something...then what is this god/something made out of? Is he made out of something that we can't touch let alone see? If so then he doesn't exist has something. and as for that suggestion that particles are not forever. 2 things 1) we don't even have concrete evidence of what fundametnal matter 2) some one already mentioned this ...that the big bang could also just be a local big bang. that reshaped the universe from before. And this could be a iterative process.
  12. "the act of seeing" as you call it to me occurs at teh parietal lobe/occipital lobe blend. Because Spatial imagery supposedly occurs there. And one of the main aspects of why I say this is the image rotation tasks which allows us to attempt to manipulate how we see the image. This also comes frmo a developmental standpoint. Also perhaps seeing upright is a multisense effect meaning that how you move also takes into effect.

  16. yeah but i'm sure cool graphics will get them to do teh cs stuff and robotics to do the eng stuff....as for biology? i don't know about dissecting but you can always hope
  17. video clips is all i gotta say...and little animated cartoons and of course sound. and the nintendo isn't bad. AI/Alife is a science. And with the PC today you can teach science through games. UBC has a graduate program specifically to do this.

  21. if you want a scientific explanation.. I can only guess that your brain at writer's block ....has jamming signals in your brain..that is perhap if your thinking to hard and of too many things that the neurons in your brain are providing inhibition for one and another to the process or set of neurons that actually let you to continue to write. Perhaps this is located at the thalamus...the gateway to all parts of your brain or the Prefrontal cortex which is supposedly the area of freethinking, planning and most complex thought. Now when you finally are able to write perhaps there is no inhibition between the various areas that are involved in writing your PFC, thalamus, the parietal cortex that controls writing and the speech and word zones. ANd its one continous flow of neuronal firing ...may be even cyclic in some parts that creates the repeated flow.
  22. 2) Ah yes path of least resistance..that i'm familiar with. I say it once I say it again physicists terminology confuses the hell outta me. Path of least resistance and shortest path in the eye of a physicist go hand in hand. BUt they are not the same. Though you gotta love the proofs that Calc of Variations provides for them. 1) Jakiri what is your definition of chaotic...we may have different interpretations.

  24. 2) yo quiero taco bell? plz explain 3) really? I thought if an object has radial force around a point the orbit is purely circular if there is no external(other bodies) acting on it. Like the orbits in our solarsystem are spinning around in ellipsoid because the sun is not the true center of our solar system?
