  1. You are being obtuse. The way someone speaks of something changes with the audience and circumstances. When asked why stars shine I may answer 'because it's burning', 'because of nuclear fusion', 'because it is nature's way of smiling', or 20 other ways depending on to whom I am speaking. You can't pretend the way I described a star to a child is the one true way I think of stars. If you want to claim that Einstein thinks a certain way regarding GR with respect to this conversation and this audience, then you need to get him here to comment. Otherwise stop telling us what he thinks.
  2. People are telling you how scientists view what they are doing. You are telling them "No! you are NOT viewing it that way! You are viewing it a different way." It's fine that you can't get comfortable with their view, but quit telling people what they think.
  3. At some point it helps if one accepts they are an amateur trying to have an in depth discussion with experts. When that happens, one no longer tries to argue they are right, but instead tries to understand why they are wrong. It's hard to understand how a Ferarri functions when your automotive knowledge is based upon playing with matchbox cars. I'm speaking of myself of course.
  4. I can answer this one; The Universe. It makes clear and perfect sense to me! Just as you can claim one thing without evidence, I can claim the opposite without evidence. Perhaps it would be better if we both simply acknowledged that neither of us knows what really happened.
  5. https://colemans.com/surplus-guide/post/history-usgi-concertina-wire Seems like it came from a clear-thinking, sound mind. Don't see yourself short. You seem to have more in common with them than you realize.
  6. Congratulations and so what? You act like 'making sense to you' = empirical evidence. For some people it makes perfect sense that the government put micro-chips in the COVID vaccine. Their opinion is exactly as convincing as your opinion.
  7. I'm pretty sure he meant September 18th. https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/justice-for-j6-rally-capitol-violence-1222120/
  8. You are a typical Trumper. Quit promoting tactics that lead to police violence.

It's not homework. It is the responsibility that comes with participation on a site that has high standards.
  10. LOL! Great metaphor/simile/analogy/description (I am often not clear what exactly that type of phrasing is called. 😛)
  11. Every six months. Like clock work. 😄
  12. About every six months or so we have a mini-debate triggered by someone who doesn't like the downvote. As there are others here who like the downvote, the result of the debate is that the option remains and people can use it or not as they see fit. Occasionally someone will downvote everything someone says because they are pissed at them and the admins will step in so that doesn't happen. Every once in a while someone doesn't like the upvote either but that is a rare sighting.
  13. And we had two after the first virgin birth?
  14. I remember taking the Meyers Briggs test for the first time about 30 years ago. It was a real eye opener for me. I had no idea that my co-workers viewed the world so differently than I did. Once we understood where each other was coming from and what was important to each of us, communications greatly improved as we now recognized what the other found offensive, or what kind of approach had the best chance of success. It was a real bonus for our team.
  15. https://www.mic.com/articles/87703/what-kind-of-cia-officer-would-you-be-take-the-test Believe what you want. In the real world it is quite common to take personality tests. https://blog.vantagecircle.com/employment-personality-test/ The test helps you determine HOW to communicate, not "what you communicate about".
  16. Since you seem to have missed it let me quote the very first thing I said to you: You are correct, people are not unchanging, monolithic robots. I'm getting the impression you are not actually reading what I am writing. What those things have in common is that people tend to categorize things to help themselves better understand the world. For the same reason you don't just look at a bunch of bones and say you now know the animal type. If you want a more scientific answer to a question you add some thought and structure to it, allowing it to be repeatable and generate consistent results. There are many practical applications for determining personality type. At work you might determine personality types so that you can better understand how to communicate with your co-workers. In selecting astronauts for long space missions, or undercover operatives, or ambassadors, it helps to know what their personality type is before deciding they can do the job you are selecting for.
  17. True. But you said "two observers that are both at rest". They may not be at rest with respect to a third observer. No one is simply "at rest". They are only "at rest with respect to something else".
  18. Because there was no benefit to doing so. Until we grew bigger heads that is.
  19. Without any test at all I can identify people I know who are outgoing, introverts, neat freaks, cautious, confrontational, etc. Classifying personality is simply a recognition of the reality of differences between people. No different than classifying soft drinks, music, or species.
  20. What is really funny is how many pictures showed up when I Googled "ramen birthday cake". 😆
  21. Why? Seems like a terrible waste of time and effort. I told my kids I wanted nothing for my birthday and they met my wishes without me having to tell them I didn't want a shirt, pants, ramen noodles, lithium, red rubber ducks, shoe laces (neither brown nor black), murky water, etc.
  22. Bullshit. I said nothing of the sort. Quit lying.
  23. Holy crap! That is the best thing I've seen posted in this thread in a long time! Thanks for sharing!!!!
  24. Of course I can. Happens every day. Basic neurobiology.
  25. No. They remain speculations that we can safely ignore. You only get to claim "theory" once you provide compelling evidence that your assertions and associated model are correct.
