  1. Glass is made of lots of different shit, none of which are liquids. Its all mineral - sand even. Its a mish mash of crap that has a very erratic bond structure and gives the impression that is a very viscous liquid. The liquid glass theory was a rumour started buy the nazis to divide us as a nation. Pro liquid and against liquid. The nazis believed it would drive us to civil war and in the hieght of the battle, they would slip across the channel unoticed. I made that up buy the way
  2. Actually i think i'm wrong. There must be time in order to have speed. The speed of something is mesured by how long it takes to travel somewhere. I dunno, i dont think anyone knows enough about time to be certain. Its just speculation and theories
  3. the idea that traveling at the speed of light will slow down time is only a theory. How do we know time is actually a dimention? Does time exist or is there just matter and movement.
  4. So its agreed. I call upon you to join an emergency council so as we can determin what to do about glass. Does everyone have any proposals?
  5. Travelling back in time is the most destructive thing you can do in this universe. If it was possible to build a machine (for arguments sake, a Tardis) that can travel back in time you could very easily trigger something called the bucket effect. I'v posted this idea about 6 months ago. The bucket effect is basicaly feedback. If you get a microphone and put it against its speaker, it creats a loop. Time travel is essensialy a loop aswell. But the signal from the microphone gets stronger and stronger because it is constantly magnifying the signal. If you went back 10 years in your tardis, to 1993 you would deposit some atoms there. Oxygen, pocket fluff etc. Now firstly, these atoms allready exist in 1994 in some way or another. Now the number of these particular atoms have doubled. You go back to the future but essentialy time passes and the experement happens again, now you have more of the same atom deposited. This will happen constantly. So instantaneously you will have an infinate amount of matter being fed into this one place that you land. The last thing that i didn't mention is that you will crash into yourself. Either way, you will end up creating so sort of expanding black hole.
  6. The front of his face explodes open to. Theres a high probability that this is the exit wound.
  7. glass glass glass GLASS glass Glass GlaSs GLASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS ill have a pint of glass please mmmmmm glass
  8. is the middle pearl worth $100 dollars more than the pearl on one side and $150 more than the one on the other side. If so, i think there is only one answer... but err, im too busy to tell you.
  9. if the first pearl on one side was 100 and the other 150 then i get about $48500 for the middle pearl. but its probably wrong cos i rushed the working out... so ignor me
  10. yeah thats what i got. could be anything. but if you go up portmouth arcade, you can get a plastic pearl necklace for like, 20p and a robotic parrot gives it to you in an egg. Everybodies happy.
  11. besides; glass is made out of loads of different minerals ie sand. This means its consistancy is very erratic. Maybe the bonds between all the different particles are just not that strong. If you look at glass closely you will see that its a mish mash of different molecules. The glass doesn't 'melt', it probably has a closer relation to dust or sand dudes.
  12. How long is it going to take my window to melt then.

    100% Oxygen?

Micheal Jackson and his monkey like to breath pure oxygen or so i've read...
  14. If you got a bar of chocolate and heated it; it would start off as solid and then slowly become softer, then it would be runny and you would have a liquid. It wont just instantly become a liquid.
  15. I tend to forget the word orbit, it was penned hundreds of years ago. both objects influence each other. One more than the other maybe. In which case i say mass.
  16. Maybe it would be easier to say that there is a gradual transition between the state of a material. Solid-Liquid-Gas isn't efficient enough man. I say that glass is more solid than liquid but more liquid than your average solid.
  17. I read somewhere that people with slow metabolisms lived longer.

    the moon

The moon does spin. its 'years' are the same length as its days. This means we always see the same side of the moon. It may has spinned faster at one point though.
  19. im being very vague when i describe a lot of this. I into the idea that the universe only exists as matter. I didn't really start the thread to discuss whether it was possible to travel back in time because i personally dont believe it is possible. There are a lot of ideas and theories about all this that could or could not be true but the bucket effect is purely theoretical. Maybe i didn't explain it well or something but its not my theory. Its definatly true that the bucket only happens if you 'leave something behind.
  20. Besides this is all theoretical. I dont care if it is possible to travel back in time. and blike, you can only 'move' matter foward in time. As it only exists once in the universe. Its similar to a microphone feeding back. If you put a microphone upto its speaker; it will record whats coming out of the speaker, ampify it slightly and send it through the speaker. If you get a slight noise it will quickly feed back and you end up with a very loud signal. Same pricapal
  21. If you move atoms to a previous point in time; they would exist twice at that point (because all atoms have been around since the big bang) so whatever you send back, will be able to visit itself. If this atom is then allowed to 'stay' at this point in time, that is the bucket effect because it will happen over and over again. You have a bucket of water. the bucket is the univers and the water is all the atoms within. The universe can only hold so many atoms before it overflows
  22. I was reading this article about traveling back in time and some complications that may occur and there was this part about 'the bucket effect'. This basicaly means that when you travel back in time, you will bring matter with you. Just bits and pieces like Oxygen atoms, fluff ect. This is all very vague but the fact is you will be introducing more material in that place in time than what previously existed. Noone knows what would happen. Anything you send back in time would actually allready exist there in some form. If we said for arguments sake that when you send stuff back in time, it remains stable and exists as normal. This means that if it gets 'left behind' you will experience a sort of feedback that instantly occurs. Because in a 4th dimensional view; the time travel will occur not only once, but an infinite amount of times. (This is if the future takes the same path each time) Still with me? So if you accidently deposit a small piece of matter when you travel back in time. It will be duplicated an infinite amount of time and the universe would probably colapse due to the emense amount of gravity caused by your infinitly big ball of pocket fluff. This is a theory called the bucket effect. So dont travel back in time ok?

    Perspective

Thats an interesting answer. Usually people just say "because its further away" which makes no sense really. I think i've actually heard the white room thing before. Wouldn't the amount of background you can see behind the object be dependant on how small the object appears anyway?
  24. Why do things look smaller when they are further away? Noone has ever given me a decent answer to that question. Just thought i'd ask.
