  1. Circa 1978, while touring an American tool and die shop, we got to see a set of 'die shoes' that were apparently bought(imported) from a Chinese organization. They were sub-standard and honestly looked like something from the Flintstones. They have certainly come along way. 'Good On' hard work; this should inspire any hard worker.

  3. The Dr.Faucis of the world are why we have a chance to survive ever changing health threats that may be in our future. Dr Fauci is not infallible but he sure as hell is professional! Fauci's tract record speaks for itself !
  4. Happy Mother's Day ! A mom forgives us all our faults, not to mention one or two we don't even have . Robert Breault
  5. Reporter: What's the first thing you need in order to split the atom? Scientist: A fission licence .
  6. iNOW, there is one statement starting with "Migl, I feel no anger...". The first sentence of that paragraph established the context of the following sentences. It is opinionated and I suggest it is an accurate assessment of Senator Ron Johnson's remarks made in the aftermath of the insurrection on Jan.6,2021 at our Capitol. As if you did not know, politicians "play politics", catering to their base and applying spin when making statements. Ron Johnson minimized the dangers that existed during an invasion of the Capitol with statements like,(paraphrasing) I was not afraid, and They were law abiding people. In my opinion these statements were meant to belittle the seriousness of a mob's actions that are responsible for death, injuries and damage to the Capitol.
  7. South America is on the move! Florida may be showing results of weird 'Gerrymandering' ?
  8. iNOW, my statement about Sen.Johnson has a reasonable degree of probability; no different than your statement about Sen. Johnson," He's clearly prioritized riling up a low information voting base instead of....."
  9. MigL, I feel no anger toward Ron Johnson but I do feel Ron Johnson's remarks about the events of Jan.6,2021 at the Capitol were politically motivated. His remarks were intended to create the impression that those who did feel threatened by the rioters were exaggerating the threat that actually existed. Ron Johnson did feel safe; he was not targeted by the rioters. Ron Johnson had, and still has, no concern for the safety of his political opponents or those required to protect them. The Republican VP was even in danger. It may sound cliche but those Capitol police and the 'Metro' officers were real heroes on Jan.6.....and lucky to have won the day... i
  10. An attempt at humor since your profile photo displays your glasses on top of your head, every time I see ya.
  11. Responding: My point was trivial. It would be better to continue on topic but it seems 'minimum wage' has fallen out of the news cycle and is recessed here as well. I expect interest will return in due time.
  12. Very informative. Thank you, I've not one chemistry course and your post "hits the nail on the head". 👍
  13. How many hours a day do you spend looking for your glasses ?
  14. It seems the English and Americans value money unless the Brits were just there to complain. 🙂
  15. Point taken, thank you....I forgot to credit the link supplied by Sensei..
  16. Just stumbled on this disclaimer......found it interesting. How many commonly used products have not been evaluated by the FDA ?
  17. I need to correct my above post which should be deleted for lack of interest and misinformation. Senator Johnson, senior Senator from Wisconsin did not use any reference to race or color of the insurrectionist. He does believe the rioters at the Capitol are law abiding citizens and he was in no danger, in his opinion. He did also indicate he would have been frightened if the rioters were from that other group(BLM).
  18. and there is nothing wrong with that..
  19. Inow, I did not intend to offer evidence in a casual discussion. When I read the OP and the exchanges between members about minimum wage I inferred since one member started sentences with " I think....", another offered questions which you answered ,as I interpret as casual answers, and another offered " I don't like.....". I try to chose my words carefully. As I investigated this site 'SFN' there was an invitation to join on my screen. There were no limitations such as credentials. I am not a scientist. While I intend to obey the guidelines if I, or any member begins a sentence with " I believe" or "I think", it does not mean they are ignorant as to proper posting in a scientific discussion. I see the "I believe" as a signal someone is offering an opinion and not offering evidence as argument. I understand and accept your criticism. I tried to cut and paste the one paragraph to explain my post but ended up with a very, very long image in my documents. I'm not offering ignorance as evidence. If there is an argument I withdraw. One point: you also edited the article and posted "more than $11" instead of the Wikipedia's opinion. I suspect you as many don't trust Wikipedia as being 'gospel'. "I believe" this will remain my longest post ever offered at SFN.🤓
  20. INOW, did you read any thing I wrote? I'm sorry if you are offended. However, insulting me won't help under paid workers. You're not giving a bleep about my post even won points. That is interesting. Anyone interested can easily 'Wiki' my post at Minimum Wage in the United States.
  21. I believe that more than 85% of American workers who earn minimum wage actually earn over $11 an hour due to different state wage rates. I'm just offering information I'm not suggesting $11 is a reasonable rate with today's food and shelter prices. Also any Federal increases to the minimum wage would be incremental taking perhaps a number of years to reach $15. Wikipedia/Minimum Wage in the USA
  22. Yes, Yank here. I thought it would be difficult to render Calcium Carbonate to a semi-liquid. Tums do not advertise to have Vitamin D included. I am not offering an argument, perhaps my questioning this product is misplaced in a science forum. I think the term" smoothie" might have misled one member. Smoothies can be a flavored ice treat. I was questioning Tums as 'Phi for All' referenced.
