I am not suggesting generational craft. Remember what Stephen Hawking said, that humanity has about 100 more years before our extinction. So how do you want to spend the next 100 years? Terraforming Mars, building Terminator robots, or exploring the solar system? People going to other stars seems farther and farther away than ever. How long would it take to terraform Mars? Mars is a nice place to visit, but you wouldn't want to live there. Terraforming Mars will be too costly and a lower priority, compared to giving humanity mobility around the solar system. My spaceship can orbit Mars in the comfort of one G with temperature controlled, video games, all you can eat, and shielded from cosmic rays, like in Star Trek, but not to the stars, just around our neighborhood. We can visit Titan, Enceladus, Europa, and other fine destinations. 😃 The next few hundred years may be very tough for humanity considering population growth, climate change, nuclear terrorism, natural disasters, etc, all point to doing more with less. Humanity will become very budget conscious. Terraforming Mars, and Terminator robots, should be a lower priority than comfortable mobility around the solar system. After you have your comfortable spaceships, you can visit asteroids that have water-ice and minerals you need, then hollow them out. Live inside of asteroids. They would rotate providing one G for people standing inside with their heads pointing towards the center of the asteroid. That would be better than terraforming Mars.

Terraforming planets will take a back seat to building spacecraft that can be "all the comforts of home." Why make the effort to terraform Mars when you could much easier build a giant spacecraft that can travel for decades without needing anything, except to stop occasionally at an asteroid to collect water-ice for water, air and fuel, and some useful minerals.

Good question. Maybe when you tickle yourself, you already know exactly the location and the kind tickle you intend. When somebody else tickles you, you cannot anticipate location and kind of tickling? As usual I'm trying to "figure out" obscure subjects. I stumbled upon a Qanon believer when I was listening to music on Youtube. It is a nice version of Bob Marley's song "Babylon System." If you want to listen to it, I posted the song at the end of this post. In the song Bob Marley sings: Babylon system is the vampire, yea! Suckin' the children day by day, yeah! Me say de Babylon system is the vampire, falling empire, Suckin' the blood of the sufferers, yeah! Building church and university, wooh, yeah! Deceiving the people continually, yeah! Me say them graduatin' thieves and murderers Look out now they suckin' the blood of the sufferers A couple of Qanon enthusiasts commented about the words "vampire sucking the children day by day" that it referred to Hillary Clinton and the "Hollywood Elites" who are Satantic, pedophile, cannibal, vampires who torture children to get "adrenochrome" from their blood. It's supposed to keep them young. They suggested that Bob Marley could foresee Qanon and was calling them out. Ole B posted: "Knowing the elites drink blood for adrenachrome and practice human sacrifice gives this song a whole new feeling. I wish I woke up earlier." I replied to call foul, that Qanon was an absurd conspiracy theory with no factual basis, and saying Bob Marley was referring to Qanon was disgusting and they were LIARS!! Marley was just being figurative not literal. One believer replied to me, see below. This should give some insight into the mind of a believer. I asked him how he knew something that he cannot know about. His reply was: Ole B: "It is hard to believe. It's also uncomfortable to believe. I followed the people posting those comments to other channels on youtube where people seemed to be recently systematically causing chaos around the world. I followed some names mentioned in these videos and in the comments to social media accounts of what appeared to me to be Cartel members that seemed to be selling and kidnapping children. Advertising things suspiciously, sort of in the same way Wayfair later came under suspicion for their overpriced cabinets. I was distraught, my whole world was changed that night. I'm not a man of faith but I prayed for the first time in over 20 years. I mentioned what I found about the actors to a few friends the next day at work. Leaving out the stuff about the children till I could do further research. The day after that I was approached by a man I knew for 4 years who called me a sheep and threatened my life. The four years I knew this man he was one of the kindest and politically smart people I knew so I was absolutely shocked. I looked into his social media that night and I see the same symbolisms, the same odd advertisements like a fruit for $500 with a small brown child sitting on it. After that I started research into conspiracies like pizzagate and the Illuminati. I can’t prove it but I'm 100% sure of what I believe and I urge everybody who’s ready to accept it to look into it for themselves. I believe a mass awaking might stop this satanic insanity and I also believe it might be part of such an elaborate and well thought out plan that it may be beyond our power to stop it. From what I've gathered they are trying to create a new world under communism run by Satanist and pedophiles. Many people need to die for this to happen. Yeah humans have other problems to deal with like climate change and pandemics before fooling around with a lark like this. The terminator robot is very sophisticated. It is indistinguishable from a real person. And it is very tough, almost indestructible. Maybe in a couple of hundred years, if we survive other problems.

My favorite subject on this web site is Astronomy & Cosmology. Too bad there is not more conversation here. The idea of a "positively-curved" universe, where if you really travel in a totally straight line, you may end up at your starting point is the most difficult idea I have yet encountered. It is impossible for me to think in "flat-lander."☹️ Anyone have a more understandable analogy for global curvature?😃 Or at least explain how 3-d space can be so curved.

Very funny remarks above, but the question has not been answered. How long until robotic and AI technology reach the level of a terminator robot, just like in the first Terminator movie? My guess is it will take a long time, maybe 100 years?

Maybe the curvature we can detect is only within the observable universe. Outside the observable, maybe the curvature changes? I thought massive objects bend space, but they are located randomly, so how can any curvature be constant? Can all the isotropy/homogeneity be within the observable universe? We can't see outside that.

If Melania asked me what I thought of the "Be Best" campaign, I would have told her to say: "Be Your Best Each Day." It should apply to everyone, not just the "elite" few who ARE BEST, such as Donald is the best president ever, and certainly Melania is the best first lady ever. In the real world, everybody just tries to do their best relative to their circumstances. If a person is crippled and declining day by day, then they could still try the best they can that day, and that's good enough. Ok if they are not interested, they won't be forced to try their best. It's like a game of poker, you just do the best you can with the hand you were dealt.

What I'm saying is, just in case you were thinking of taking a big round trip around the universe, traveling in a straight line, you might not return home. You might end up on another layer of an onion, or the universe curves randomly and the curvature we see only applies to our observable universe.

Why would positive curvature always be along the same arc? Maybe the curvature is random. Or maybe there is an "onion analogy" where the "straight" line curves around but misses the starting point and ends up on another layer of the onion?

There is no discussion about DeJoy removing 650+ mail sorting machines? This is because Trump announced that his intention was to make mail-in voting something "we just can't have." Except for Florida. The last I heard is when Dems interrogated DeJoy about this. He said they stopped removing sorting machines and mail boxes. When asked if he will put them back, his answer was "No sir." Then no follow up to that question?! In DeJoy's opinion the "extra" sorting machines are not needed. So if or when there is a big backlog of mail-in ballots, DeJoy can say "I thought we didn't need them. Oh well, too bad."

Exactly! "Be best" may be how something in Slovenian translates to English, with something lost in translation? At best "Be best" is awkward English usage. Has anyone heard the expression? It is my first time. The only word I could think of that gives it meaning is the word "the." "Be the best" is a tall order. I am not the best at anything I know of. Anyone the best at anything? Most people are never the best at anything. "Be the best" is setting up most people for disappointment when they don't achieve this absolute status. Even if someone is the best at something, it may not last very long. Sergey Bubka was the "best" pole vaulter in 1991 when he cleared 20'. He remained the best until 2014 when Renaud Levillenie cleared an inch higher. And Armand Duplantis became the "best" this year by clearing 20'3.3" (6.18m).

This seems like a no brainer but she had to get it wrong. "Be Best" suggests that we should all strive to be THE BEST. That is absurd. People should strive to be THEIR best. It should be "Be Your Best." But they had to screw it up and make it sound like you need to be THE best, which is very hard to accomplish, a fool's errand. This is probably because Trump always talks in generalizations and hyperbolic absolutes. So Melania follows her husband's example and sounds as stupid as Trump does. If you are not THE best it means you are a LOSER, which is a permanent condition for a lifetime of failure which Trump uses as a curse to his enemies. Trump's base are WINNERS and anyone who is not is a LOSER. I realized this in 2006 when Trump went to war with Rosie O'Donnell on Twitter. I thought that Trump was a man who curses people with the word LOSER.

They could observe the progress of one of very few intelligent civilizations in the galaxy without our interference. Do you think that ETs that are so advanced they could back-track either Voyager to find Earth would not care if we detect them when they arrived here? Voyagers golden messages were sent naively. In the 1970s Carl Sagan and company had great optimism about contact with a superior ET. More recently, Stephen Hawking was more pessimistic about the fateful encounter with a superior ET. I have a correction to my post. Trump did NOT call Harris "extremely nasty" as I thought. He actually called her "extraordinarily nasty." How often does Trump use a SEVEN syllable word to modify "nasty"? This could be a first from a man with the smallest vocabulary in the history of US politics, who is reluctant to use words outside his comfort zone, with more than one syllable and sentences of more than 3 words, (which are repeated over and over), to make sure his uneducated voters can follow him. Trump said Harrris was extraordinarily "disgustingly filthy, physically repugnant; indecent, obscene..." 😲
