“Bees use polarized sunlight scattered by the atmosphere in order to navigate; they always know where the sun is, even if it’s cloudy or behind a mountain. Then they waggle dance to inform their hive-mates about food source locations.” https://kottke.org/26/01/an-optical-compass-inspired-by-bee-vision 10.5 min video in link discusses polarization and why the sky gives us polarized light, and then gets into making an optical compass using this. It finishes up with how bees use this and the waggle dance they use to tell the hive where food is.

I first thought of a mechanical watch being used to assess the speed of its inner mechanism and then realized that any regularly repeating system could serve as such a timing mechanism So if we take the orbit of the moon ,can it be used to assess the speed of particular movements ,say on the earth? Can it tell usat what ,say Trump tells lies?(events "within" the mechanism) Can it measure the speed of coronal euptions in the Sun ?("external" events) It seems to me that,if we choose a different regularly repeating timing mechanism-say Mercury around the Sun then there will be different measurements for the same events and there will have to be a transformation to m…

It is often stated that plane mirrors invert left to right but not top to bottom. It is given as the reason why the word AMBULANCE is often written on the front in 'mirror writing'. Yet if you are followed by that same ambulance and it indicated to turn right or left you do not see the indicators switched. So if the ambulance indicated left behind you you see the left hand indicator flash in your mirror. If anyone has a clear predictive explanation of images in plane mirrors I would be grateful for them to post it.

Is time instant? It's a question about how time passes. Time cannot pass in a single step, as that would be instant. So, how does then time pass?

I am new to this forum, and interested in talking about very specific electromagnetic field line interactions. When I reference field lines I am talking the field lines around a conductor, in other words the same field lines you would use to reference linear direction of current. I have no formal education in the field so my terminology leaves a lot to be desired. I do have about 12 years of research on just field lines and their interactions. I have several patents that are focused on field line interactions only. When I talk about what I do, people seem to get lost and when I show whats going on it gets even worse. Electromagnetism is a combinat…

Book- "5.2.1 Work First of all, let us concentrate on the nature of work a system can do. We will consider only mechanical work i.e., pressure-volume work. For understanding pressure-volume work, let us consider a cylinder which contains one mole of an ideal gas fitted with a frictionless piston. Total volume of the gas is Vi and pressure of the gas inside is p. If external pressure is pex which is greater than p, piston is moved inward till the pressure inside becomes equal to ex. Let this change be achieved in a single step and the final volume be V f . During this compression, suppose piston moves a distance, l and is cross-sectional area of the piston is A [Fig. 5.5(a…

Greetings. If all the lasers below emit the same optical output power, the most dangerous one to retina damage is the purple because is barely perceived + carries the highest energy due the highest frequency. Is that correct ? Being the eyes poorly sensitivity to purple, eye damage is easier to happen for that color emission, do protective goggles have to be much better than for other colors ?. Is that right ? If proper purple-blocking goggles mask/attenuate the color; locating an aimed target may be very difficult to see. Is that right ? Is there such a thing as a coaxial dual color laser -say simultaneous pointer green and high powered purple- that with proper …

Luxian Mechanics is a first‑principles, mechanical field theory in which all matter, radiation, and gravitational effects arise from excitations in a continuous, compressible medium called Luxia. In this model, gravity is a pressure gradient in the medium, electromagnetism is a torsional mode, and particles are stable soliton structures of finite size. The properties of the Luxia medium—density, stiffness, and wave speeds—can be measured independently from astronomical observations, such as lunar orbital drift anomalies, without reference to atomic or quantum experiments. Once determined, these constants allow direct calculation of particle properties from geometry and fi…

So Im a bit uncertain about what angle of transverse means but I believe its this, lets say you swing a baseball bat, the barrel of the bat, the part of the bat that hits the ball is going to be going faster than the handle of the bat because it has to cover more distance in the same amount of time. Therefore with a longer bat the striking surface is going to be going faster than it will with a stronger bat and therefore it will send the ball further. So when batters choke up on the bat, when they move their hands closer to the barrel of the bat, they might get more control but they're sacrificing speed and power because in doing so you are decreasing the angle of transv…

What will be happen, if the radius of Earth decreased, the value of gravitational acceleration on the surface of earth decrease or increase or will be same? And further what will be gravitational acceleration value at previous point lies on the surface of the when radius was not decreased? Explain, Gravity depends on the distance from the center or from the surface of the Body (of Earth).

Hi, I need to calculate the resistance in AC of a steel conductor that is not round. Is there a way to get it from the DC resistance and the shape of the conductor ? Or is there a way to measure it without the self-inductance ? Thanks.

Hi. If all magnets and electromagnets form/have N and S poles, and field 'lines' go from one to the other. As I was told. An electromagnet rod core has the pole areas as : A ferrite or iron toroid, windings on it : Where are the magnetic poles located ? 🤨 Yes, direct current applied.

Hi I've found something wrong in physics. If you have a long stick on a stone and want to lift something lighter the physics of it is wrong as it is not currently possible to do that without having the physics virtual. There are only a few papers on the virtuality of physics out. I must be anonymous as this is a big discovery. (It is easy to imagine if you just imagine a long stick on a stone underneath lifting a lighter object and think about it as it is not possible to do in reality without using the virtual of physics; hence the current equations are wrong.) As I said this is a big discovery so feel free to ask your students about this. If you imagine, for example, a s…

Hi everyone, I wonder if you could try and give me an answer to this question please? If everything that formed this universe is derived from various forms of energy/mass, how is time accounted for? Is it a result of interactions and if so how is it accounted for in physics/maths. I mean accounted for in the literal term (for example, is it given a value that can be transformed to energy or mass units) Question is from the viewpoint of someone with only a very basic understanding of scientific methods and a reader of pop science books. Thank you Dan

Hi. Always thought an electric heater is 1500 Watts in; 1500Watts of heat out; or 100% efficient... Read about the ">100%" efficiency of heat pumps. Read about the theories of reversing a window air conditioner to heat a dwelling; consuming ~400Watts instead of 1500W as the heater and yielding more heat... Make me believe one or the other.

Hello! Please help me understand the scientific article written by P. Mason. I can't figure out what exactly the u_lambda speed means. On what basis did the integral appear in it? I need the retraction rate of the rubber band during the retraction process. Is that her? Is this the speed of the end of the tape retraction in the process? Or does it mean something else? I need to get the rate of retraction of the end, I don't understand if this is it or if I need to express something else. And why does it depend through an integral on the extent to which the wave has passed or what?

Introduction Hello folks, I've recently started teaching myself physics and one of the ways I do this was through hands-on experiments. I am looking for feedback on these, really any kind, for example Notes on experiment setup What would you have done differently? Mistakes, things not considered or mentioned How would you follow up on this experiment? Note: if the math on this page does not render properly for you, it is also available as a notion site here https://flawless-door-cdd.notion.site/Pendulum-Experiment-144c27137da88054b4eff55713e23c4e?pvs=74 Goal Measure the relationship between a pendulum length and its per…

Hello, I'm interested in researching about the Tesla energetic array that had been modified in Project Pegasus for time travel. I've studied about 140 inventions of Nikola Tesla. I think his other inventions had been seized by the US Government and I think the Tesla energetic array is one of them. Andrew Basiago knows a lot about it, but the information is insufficient. So, I would like to know more details about it. I would be appreciated if someone could send me the following details: 1. Is there a patent for the energetic array? 2. Does anyone have any photo or paper of the Tesla energetic array? 3. Any other details such as structure, measurements, and i…
