Are there nukes that can fit into a suitcase? If so, how heavy would they be and what would the power be? Not dirty nukes, but the real deal. I know that the US had an artillery piece during the Cold War called "Atomic Annie" that shot nukes, but I don't know the size of the projectile.

Hi. How many millions of years has our sun been burning ?... All that mass reduction being consumed to radiate energy for that lenght of time, has reduced its gravitational force attraction, and keeps happening, is it? Then, its pull is not a constant ! For the earth to maintain orbit on a decreasing solar gravity pull, the orbit diameter has to continuosly diminish accordingly, does it ? Or the orbiting speed slowing, does it? Miguel

I`m no Car expert but do understand the basic principles of the internal combustion engine, turbos and NO gas mixes this is ONLY an idea, and I`ll leave it to more experienced in this area to decide it`s viability. I`m sure we`ve all heard of NO (Nitrous Oxide) or "Nitrous" as it`s often called. and it`s effect on an engine! NO gas is quite expensive and sold in bottle form, what if there were a way to generate NO gas directly using heat from the turbo or exhaust manifold ? and have the advantage of it being in a solid form? it would require little work as far as I can see, you`de need a heat proof sealable metal container (screw top) that has a simple pipe …

I always put a spoonful of honey on my breakfast porridge. (Granulated sugar tastes nicer, but honey is better for health, supposedly). The thing is, where does all the honey come from. I buy my honey in a jar, from a local supermarket, and its shelves always have masses of jars stacked on them. When you think of how many supermarkets there are in the world, and how many jars of honey they have on their shelves, how much honey does that represent - a million tons? Could that massive amount really all come from bees - wouldn't there have to be so many bees, to produce it, that there'd be huge bee-farms all over the place? But has anyone ever seen them? The …

  9. Not sure where to put this so I am starting with other science if we can include bonkers maths as currently practiced by UK politicians. I have recently received notification from my electricity supplier company that my standard tariff has increased from £0.2992 per kW-hr to £0.3661 per kW-hr. So imagine my suprise to see this report by the BBC. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-63329233 What ?????????? they will pay me £3.00 to use off peak electricity ? When do I get started, I plan to use as much as possible. Will I get rich quick ?

  11. Survey Participants needed: Invitation to my short survey at the University of Bremen. Hello, I'm looking urgently for English native speakers as participants in a survey that I developed at the University of Bremen. I am a student of cultural science and I need your kind help to finish my degree. Overall, the survey should take no more than 10 to 15 minutes and is quite enjoyable. The survey is a project of the University of Bremen and is used for scientific purposes only. It is completely anonymous. The data are evaluated only within this test and are not given to any third parties. If you are interested in further information, I can send you an …

Survival Most books that teach the language of Mathematics, ignore our cognition’s abilities to understand and define the fundamental concepts of this language. Language is a tool that gives the cognition its ability to examine the object, the subject and the value of object/subject relations. For billions of years, living things have been learning how to deal with internal and external challenges occurring in their ways, and as the phenomena of life becomes more and more complex, it needs better tools of communication that will give it the ability to save and develop life from the single gene to the existence of civilizations. The language in its bot…

So I saw a documentary the other day on the possibility of 2012 being the end of the world, and it got me thinking about what might be required for a group of people to survive a world-ending disaster, and not just survive but actually thrive. I'd just like to say that I have absolutely no formal training in any of the sciences, so this is simply a thought exercise that I am undertaking with the idea of possibly using it as something to flesh out a story I am considering, so I thought I would itemize what I think would be the criteria for establishing said survival( and if there's any you think I missed, please post them), and ask all of you for help in coming up with…

  15. if you dont have any resistence when opperating large forces like millions of volts and amperages in a collider like set up looking for something of course it will blow up especialy if there is no time left and nothing there ..of course you need to turn the power down to regain real time as man sees it ..the hysterics are thrown out the window .the is no latent' time left .yuo momentarily cross over to where there is no time and no gluons either so you were only aiming a gun at nothing and it expended it self for nothing ..the swiss partical collider was on the brink of a 'time-warp ' because the unverse is confined to such phenomina you cant just keep on adding power bi…

  17. I've come upon something called general Systems Theory but I don't know weather it is a scientifically mature field, if it has usefull applications already or if it is in an early stage of development. Has anybody read about this? Is it worthy of study? Or just another pseudo science or too-ambitious-to-be-done theory?

This has and still is a very long and old debate and I didn't see that this was covered here(yet), so what do you think(and in hopefully more than a few words): Tyrannosaurus Rex - aka - the Tyrant Lizard King. Predator or Scavenger? If for some reason, you might deem him/her(I like to give things a personality and 'It' simply does not work ) a Scavenger, why, and is he still a "Tyrant Lizard King"? This may be a wild shot as I haven't seen anyone here either contemplating about future professional expansion into Paleontology or is currently studying it. But, what do you think about the rest of the Tyrannasauria's(Family group in which T-Rex belongs)? …

  20. The process of submitting scientific manuscripts to journals is a crucial aspect of scientific publishing, and it involves various steps that require significant effort from scientists. Previous studies have explored various aspects of the submission process, such as the time required and the challenges faced by scientists. However, there is a lack of comprehensive research on the overall effort required by scientists when submitting manuscripts to journals. I invite you to contribute to our study. You can find the questionnaire at https://www.soscisurvey.de/MetaScienceQuestionnaire/ It will take approx. 5 minutes to fill out all questions. Tha…

I saw a similar effect using a digital camera to take a picture of the tv a long time ago. I also saw on tv that a tv in the tv was doing the same thing. Why does this happen?

what mechanism is at work when we like or dislike a peice of music on the first time of hearing it? I say the 1`st time of hearing to escape the problem of association with pleasurable or displeasureable events that we may link unconsciously to a particular peice of music. and I`de also like to exclude Video images too. you`re just sitting down and hearing a new song/instrumental for the 1`st time on the radio, your not particulary happy or sad. but you`ll either like the track, not like it, or are indifferent towards it. what govorns this response in us?

I feel that teaching methods of Science today is too theoretical. There is not too much emphasis on practicals. And we are not told much about the scientific method ( the cornerstone of science ). Science in school has become too boring and dry I feel. Should the way of teaching be changed, what are your thoughts ? ( I have experience with the Indian Education system only as I live in India, but, I think the world prevails worldwide. Correct me if i'm wrong. )
