Thermal Radiation Laws.Consider two furnaces of the same size that emit thermal radiation. The thermal radiationspectrum of furnace A peaks at a wavelength of 1,000 nm, while that of furnace B peaks at2,000 nm. (a) In what portions of the electromagnetic spectrum do these furnaces emit most of their radiation? What are their peak wavelengths in angstroms (˚ A)? (b) According to Wien’s law: (i) Which one is hotter? (ii) What is the ratio of their temper-atures? © According to Stefan-Boltzmann’s law: (i) Which one emits more radiation (energy)? (ii)What is the ratio of the fluxes radiated by these furnaces?

Hi, I need some help with this problem. Genes Q and R are 30 map units apart. If a plant of genotype QR/qr is selfed, what percentage of progeny will be qr in phenotype? So i started off with crossing QR/qr with QR/qr, & the combination i have gotten were: Parental: QR/QR, QR/qr, qr/QR, qr/qr Recombinant: Qr/qr, Qr/QR, qR/QR, qR/qr I get that 30 map units apart will mean that it has 30% recombination frequency, but I have no idea where to go on from here. Please help!

The exercise says this: A metal stick of mass [latex]m[/latex] and length [latex]L[/latex], initial still, can slide on two long horizontal binaries without friction. A uniform vertical magnetic field is present in the region in which the stick can move. The battery [latex]G[/latex] applies a constant electromotive force [latex]\epsilon[/latex] to the circuit formed by the binaries and the stick, letting flow a current which direction is showed in the figure. Demonstrate that the velocity of the stick approaches a constant value [latex]v[/latex] and determine the module and the direction of it. What is the current that flows in the stick when this value is reached? …

I need to select a research topic with a biological theme. Each student will find at least TWO (2) primary research articles on his/her topic, write a research report containing comparisons and contrasts (as appropriate) on his/her topic based on the selected research articles. Example being Effect of X on X(not required just an example). 2 studies and ill have to compare. Maybe animal behavior studies but with different main authors. Can be animals or anything biology really. Any topic would be appreciated and Ill be seeing if I can find research papers on it. Thanks for the help! If you need anymore information just ask. Some of my classmates have started on a s…

Methane is a very powerful greenhouse gas. One pound of methane traps 25 times more heat in the atmosphere than a pound of carbon dioxide. Methane is also the main ingredient in natural gas. Because methane can be captured from landfills, it can be burned to produce electricity, heat buildings, or power garbage trucks. What volume of oxygen is necessary to completely react with 8.46 x 1019 molecules of methane gas, CH4 during combustion? So I started with balancing the equation, which is CH4 + 2O2 -> CO2 + 2H2O So I solved this which is 6.3 * 10-3. Now I need help with this part: "If the reactant in the least amount were to be quadrupled, how many gra…

A few days ago i came across a phenomenon that i've never seen before. I saw white mist/fog rise from a metal fence. To set the scene, it was a few days ago in the morning around 9 am, winter around -20 C, very slight snow (as in you can only notice if you pay attention to the ground and it sparkles). The fog itself wasn't that much but just noticeable enough to get my attention. This has been bothering me for a bit so i'd really appreciate if someone could help. The fog rose from the top of a metal sheet fence much like the following image and ask any questions that might help. Thank you.

Hi, In my chemistry class, we are doing a special stoichiometry project in which have to find out how much carbon dioxide is needed to extinguish a flame from a small candle. I was not sure of the best amount of CO2 needed for this task, so I was wondering if anyone would happen to know the best amount of CO2 needed (in mL or in L). Thanks in advance!

I'm taking an engineering intro class, and this problem has me stuck: "Vector R in Fig. 4.9 is the difference between vectors T and S. If S is inclined at 28 degrees from the vertical and the angle between S and T is 32 degrees, calculate the magnitude and direction of vector R. The magnitude of S and T are 19 cm and 36 cm, respectively. " Fig. 4.9 Is simply three lines pointing diagonally downward from the top right, with R being horizotal, T below R, and S below T (sorry, I cant find a picture to upload). I only have pre-calc under my belt (no physics) but I feel like this shouldn't be to hard to understand. I'm just finding it impossible to figure out HOW to solve …

One type of natural selection is balancing selection. One scenario that can lead to balancing selection is when a heterozygote phenotype has a fitness advantage. Which of the following are reasonable predictions of balancing selection due to heterozygote advantage? Assume that after 10 generations under the balancing selection, the f(A1) = 0.2, where “A1” is one of two alleles of a given gene; “A2” is the other allele. The f(A1) will remain roughly the same over the following generations. The f(A2) will increase, while the f(A1) will decrease. The genotype, A1A2, will become fixed in the population. …

You travel 3 m north in 1s, and 4 m east 2 s. Displacement: 5 m in 3s. Average veolcity is 5/3 m/s. or V north = 3 m/s, and v east = 2 m/s. Average velocity for trip is (allegedly) 3.6 m/s. Obviously this wrong, but conceptually I'm not quite sure how to explain why it doesn't work.

Hi I would like to ask why the answer to the question as per uploaded in the attachment below '0' and not '4'? I thought if we were to start off with 2 glucose molecules and since each molecule undergo glycolysis, that means each molecule will undergo substrate level phosphorylation twice. Given that the question said that one of the substrate level phosphorylation is cut off, it means there is still 1 more left. Since there are 2 ATP molecules formed per glucose molecule PER substrate level phosphorylation, shhouldnt there be a total of 4 ATP molecules produced via substrate level phosphorylation given that we have 2 glucose molecules to begin with? thank y…
