  1. I want to do a project based off of sciencebuddies.org/science-fair-projects/recommender_nav.php?GoTo=Genom_p003.shtml&isb=c2lkOjEsaWE6R2Vub20scDoyLHJpZDozMTYwNDEz&fave=no&from=TSW However, for science fair i need variables and graph. I want to compare if types of flu mutate at the same regions and make a pie chart of that. Here are the variables I have so far: Independent: type of flu Dependent: region of mutating protein Constant: type of BLAST program Is this correct? Thanks, ichigo6

  8. Hi, I am doing an assignment for my final project for my Open University Chemisty degree. I am doing it on cellulose bionanocomposites. I'm doing ok with the "normal" chemistry but I am struggling with some of the materials science. Some of the papers I have researched report upon the "strain-to-failure" of the bionanocomposite films they have produced. I know that strain-to-failure measures the amount of strain a solid material can withstand before it "fails", is calculated from measurements gained from stress-strain curves and is expressed as a percentage. What I don't understand is what the percentage is actually measuring - what is it a percentage of? I have perfo…

The average concentrations of bromine in seawater (d=1.024g/mL) and the Dead Sea (d=1.22g/mL) are .065g/L and .50g/L, respectively. What is the mass ratio of bromine in the dead sea to that in seawater? I have no clue what to do here. The answer is 7.7/1 but I can't get there. Is this testing significant figures? EDIT: Wow was I overthinking this. Just divide the two concentrations to get 7.69 which is 7.7..... don't I feel foolish.

We had a quiz and I got one of the questions wrong and it had to do with the Tollen's test. I missed the lecture on this topic and my book doesn't do a very good job of explaining it. I've posted the question followed by the general equation for the test, which I understand. It converts an aldehyde to a carboxylic acid. The problem I'm having is applying it to something that's in a chair conformation... there is no aldehyde. Can someone show me what the product would be and explain why?

    The function φ(x) = a(sin 2πx/λ) + b(cos 2πx/λ) represents the superposition of two harmonic waves with the same wavelength lambda. Show that phi is also harmonic with the same wavelength, and can be written as φ(x) = A sin((2πx/λ) + α) where A = √(a² + b²) the best I can come up with is φ(x) = A sin ((2πx/λ) + α) = (√( a² + b²)) (sin(2πx/λ) cos α + cos(2πx/λ) sin α)

Egg--Grade Large A Egg must achieve a minimum height of 10ft Egg must achieve free flight for at least 10ft Egg must be "released" by the system at a height of no more than 2ft Egg must land and remain in a circular target area with a diameter of 3ft. Egg must remain UNBROKEN 50% of the egg must be open to the air and visible. The system must be reusable and have a "refresh rate" of nor more than 3 minutes. The system must come packed such that it can be dropped from a distance of 4ft and still…

If there is somewhere online I can find the complete genomic sequence of Vibrio furnissi? How to prepare Mycobacterium smegmatis for long term storage at -80 degrees C? These aren't actual Homework questions. I am doing research under a doctor at my university, and also helping her with cultures for her lab class. But this forum seemed the most appropriate for these questions. If you can even point me in the right direction, I would be grateful.
