Seen any good sculptures made from almonds lately? Note: no other nut-based sculptures may be discussed under threat of the ban-hammer!

Do you think that humans will live on forever? It seems hopeless because theres so many ways we can be wiped out. Global warming, asteroids, or comets are the obvious ways. But then theres bacteria because antibiotics are getting less effective, we can also end up killing eachother by war. There STILL is no cure for viruses. Also if we somehow survive and live on for hundreds of thousands of years. The sun will consume us all. I dont think well ever get to another solar system because if we went lightspeed it would kill us. I know this sounds depressing, sorry. But I want everyone else to see it from my point of view. I THINK, the earth is the only home we will hav…

Since that is comming up pretty soon, what is your favorite cattegory of it? I myself like everything with the exception of that POS basketball. Gymnastics, Swimming and Archery are the top priority though in my book.

If you could have lunch with anyone that has ever lived, who would it be? And what would you serve him or her? (I was actually asked this)

looks good to me the thought occurred to me that the "active users" thingyjigger may have been fixed. the information in it has already lasted 20 minutes, which is less leaky than it was before IIRC when you are at home then the menubar at top should have a "forums" to click on so that one sees immediately where to click to get to the main index of forums I like reading math-forum (with dave as moderator, who does an excellent job). anyway this is a good forum and posts/day is rising and some smart people (visible in math forum) are joining so it could be in for some growth----as you all probably know so why bother say it

Some people need to change their avatars so my parents don't think i'm looking at porn when i'm on the forums. Plus they aren't even sexy-- yourdadonsomethin's girl is transexual (broad shoulders) Molocule man's has blimp boobs. Which me and Phi shake our heads at very violently. Anyone who does not share our taste in women deserves bloody castration. If you are going to have a girl, at the least let her be attractive. Bloodhounds pics of the asian girl are approved, pictures of Natalie Portman are also approved. A more complete list of approval will be released shortly.

Superfly infact. I find it hillarious how glass and memory just weren't programmed into them. I'm curious though, why do bugs always fly at the lights? I mean, it's not like they just fly at the sun every day... that would be the absolute dumbest natural occurence on the planet.

I just had a chance to see the 1st 30 minutes of the movie and damn, the special effects are amazing. The plot is fantastic and does not even compare to the POS Final Destination 1. Those who've already seen it, what are your thoughts on this movie?

I got into an argument the other day about werewolves and mermaids. In your educated opinion, which one is more likely to exist and why? Personally, I have to go with mermaids. (if you question what I mean by "more likely to exist", you are not eligible to answer)

Hi there, Does anyone have any cool scientific screen savers ? I tried to find a good DNA one, but you either have to pay for it or it chucks a lot of extra 'goodies' on your computer, a search for human genome resulted in less, but around the same findings.... just wondering if anyone has one that looks cool.

Ive been a avid xfiles fan all my life, but now i think its time to get a bit of star trek experiance. I went on Sayo's site the other day and found it usefull. I just want to know where is the best place to start, the best series and the like. What tv channels its on if all, best place to learn about it in general, the ships + the characters. I watched the movie last night on sci-fi, where spock died. Thanks.

Most of us have played sci-fi video games, read sci-fi books and of course, seen sci-fi movies. Now there is one thing that intrigues me, that is: Are force fields and their relatives possible to create in real life??? Have any of you heard of any experiments or research that is going on right now on force fields??? Pomlom

FOOT-AND-MOUTH BELIEVED TO BE FIRST VIRUS UNABLE TO SPREAD THROUGH MICROSOFT OUTLOOK Researchers Shocked to Finally Find Virus That Email App Doesn't Like Atlanta, Ga. — Scientists at the Centers for Disease Control and Symantec's AntiVirus Research Center today confirmed that foot-and-mouth disease cannot be spread by Microsoft's Outlook email application, believed to be the first time the program has ever failed to propagate a major virus. "Frankly, we've never heard of a virus that couldn't spread through Microsoft Outlook, so our findings were, to say the least, unexpected," said Clive Sarnow, director of the CDC's infectious disease unit. The stud…

I went on a date to see the village tonight. I thought it was mostly very good. A little dissappointing, but it was what it was and i accept it. It seems like Shamylan (sp?) is bent on plot twists. This one wasn't bad, except in the fact that it was quite predictable. I didn't predict it, because i forgot that being M. Night, I should be waiting for the twist, but it wasn't that surprising. I hope he realizes he doesn't have to follow the same model of plot twists everytime. Ok with me if he does it most of the time, but not always. My hope for him is that he's doing this to elliminate all of the obvious possible twist types, so that he, and everyone else in movi…

Just watched the DVD Release for Millennium Season 1. It’s got a nice dark touch to it. I forgot how moody and morose the show is. It is so gritty and shows the darker side of life … not all the spit and polish that we are used to seeing on the television today. Good to see the original cast. I got this wicked artwork for my computer from a Millennium site.…here is the URL: http://www.millenniumsecretsite.com

Just saw this movie last night. Local movie reviewer gave it a D+, But I liked it. Lots of big noisy toys zooming around crashing into things. Not very deep or profound, but a heck of a lot of fun, especially if you are with a 10 year-old. It’s patterned after the ‘60’s Saturday morning series, for those that are familiar with it. So it’s kind of like a big Saturday morning show, but it’s well worth the price of the ticket and a heck of a lot better than some of the better advertised flicks that are in the theaters now. Hi, Transhumanism is the science of augmenting the human body and brain through the use of science and technology. This field materialized I believe around 1985 and formed the first organization, the Extropy Institute http://www.extropy.org/ around 1989 I believe. Transhumanists seek to use things like cloning, genetic engineering, nanotechnology, cyborg technology, mind uploading, artificial intelligence, and similar radical methods to enhance the body and brain, the ultimate goal being to become immortal and super-intelligent, in effect to become gods, if you will. Mythological gods such as Zues and Ares were immortal and physically strong, but not super-intelli…

I'm about to finish The Catcher in the Rye. I have Memoirs of a Geisha, Wuthering Heights, James Joyce's Ulysses, Brave New World, Baudalino, and Island of the Day Before in the queue, as well as a giant book about the meaning of maths as a language. Not sure which one to read next though
