Seen any good sculptures made from almonds lately? Note: no other nut-based sculptures may be discussed under threat of the ban-hammer!

so I think my car might be cursed. I bought it 4 months ago for about $800 it's a 95 taurus with some minor problems but thats to be expected for a car that old and at that price. now I had the car in the mechanics shop in order to get some minor repairs done after I bought the car, and the day I was supposed to pick it up, a truck backed into it. it was totaled for 2000 I fixed it tonight I was hit in the side and probably had the car totaled again. just thought I'd share the story.

This started when I was chatting to some friends on msn, basically you take a body part and try and incorporate it into a celebrities or famous characters name, knee seems to be quite an easy one to start off with, and thus... Liam Kneeson Chesknee Hawkes Doknee Darko You get 1 point for each body part, if you can get two body parts into one name you get two points. Of course if your attempt is tenuous, and not worthy of even a snigger, you will receive no points and will be mocked accordingly.

Anybody who goes to a doctor regularly can relate with this one. Do you think that more intelligent people tend to have worse handwriting? I swear, there has to be an illegibility class at most medical schools...

I don't like school uniforms, mostly because people seem incapable of wearing them properly. There is something about school ties which means they are never tied well and in the right place, and school shirts are generally crappy. On my way to help teach a lesson, the teacher I was helping had to have a go at five different students because the state of their dress was lousy so I said "and that's why I don't think there should be school uniforms" and she made the perfectly valid point that kids judge and exclude each other enough as it is and allowing them to show what clothes they like and can afford would just exacerbate that. So anyways, what are your thoughts on u…

I hope this isn't viewed as a spam plug. But I received this from a friend in my Email: I verified this at Snopes.com, and it appears much of the text above comes directly from them. Personally, I'm impressed with capitalists that can discipline their greed enough to do things like this. Couldn't we all use a break from Wal-mart? At least buy something from Sears. At least they give something back, which is more than I can say for Wal-mart, which is the retail business equivalent of a black hole.

I'm in second year physics, and I feel the time has come to get a graphing calculator, so I'm going to ask for one for christmas. I have prior experience with the classic TI-83 plus, so by default I would lean towards this one because I know the interface. But, there are also TI-84s, 85s, 86s and 89s that are all of the same basic design, but more advanced (and more expensive). There is also the 83 silver edition. So do any of you have experiences with these calculators? What would you recomend for a second year physics student, who wants a calculator that will last me years? Whats the best bang for the buck? Any opinions appreciated.

I was advised by my computer repair technician NOT to use an LCD monitor but only a CRT one on my computer . He gave several reasons for this ( picture distortion /contortion /shrinkage under certain circumstances ) , not the least being that a CRT type lasts twice as long . Does any reader have any input on this ? My CRT 20 in monitor just failed after about 6 years ( an IBM type , not Mac system ) .

http://richarddawkins.net/tourJournal#11 I thought that was a classy and humorous response to the two situations, especially from a man who is stereotyped by his detractors as an asshole.

Yeehaw, we've been granted a snow day here in the midwest. Actually, we currently are under "blizzard conditions" - 20-30 mph winds (sorry, can't concentrate enough to change that to klicks/hour right now, but I'd guess around 60km/h) and still heavy snow. And lemme tell you, it's gorgeous!

I have been working with some experiments recently and in the process I found that one experiment is actually ALOT of fun! That is if you enjoy creating your own universe! With working gravity and functioning galaxies. How to build your own function scale universe. Supplies: *1 glass cassarole dish or other type of large flat see-through container (to hold water and cooking oil). *Water *Cooking Oil - the thicker the better, the clearer the better. *An eye dropper or equivelint device. sorry, i'm a long time lurker here, here's my situation. I am taking an OSHA class as part of a work-study program at Empire state college. Part of this class has to deal with writing a large research paper with an occupational health focus. Based on anecdotal evidence (talking with various ppl who work in the electrical industry) many electricians seem to suffer knee and joint problems. Because of this, I've decided to analyze and write about knee pain among electricians. I am corrolating bureau of labor studies occupational health data alogn with personal interviews, local polling among electricians, and additional statistics obtained locally. What I am missing…

Here is a picture of the background image I used on one of my web sites: It is supposed to be blue with navy stripes. I can see it very clearly on my LCD monitor, but it appears to be solid black on my other computer with a CRT monitor. The only way I can see it is if I turn the brightness on the monitor to almost 100%. I think this is strange, because other images do not appear too dark on my CRT monitor. What does your monitor show when you look at the picture I posted above?
