I'm trying to develop some ideas which will wind up in my podcast, so I thought I'd bounce them off the forums here and see what people thought. These ideas are going to be a bit too complex for my podcast's target audience and I'm trying to think of ways to simplify them. I'm sure it's going to take a few successive rewrites in order for that to happen. My apologies to all you blog and Podcast haters out there, but hopefully this explanation will help elucidate you as to why they are important, which is something the mainstream media has horribly failed to describe with any degree of clarity. Anyway, let's begin... The bottom up model describes the process of amateur…

  2. Here's the brief summary of my situation. I'm doing an extra credit project for school and I want to make a game for it. I'm going to create a game using GameMaker on the computer. I'll save the game on a laptop and bring the laptop to school. I'll hook up a projector to the laptop so that everyone can see it. If all of this goes right, I still have a problem. I want four people to play at a time. Any suggestions how I can do this on a cheap budget? I think I have a Dreamcast still around, with four controllers. Is it possible that somehow I can hook up the four controllers to the game and have four people play the game at once? I think GameMaker can do that, but I'm …

found this website whilst pootling about the web. I think there are a few web desiners that use this forum (in addition to the admins) -- i have absolutely no idea how useful this site will be to you, but it seemed like it might be useful, so there it is: a website that shows you what your color scheme looks like to color-blind people.

I've noticed that data sent across a wireless LAN network can be read very easily if you don't use WEP encryption keys. I was wondering, how far can a signal from a wireless network travel? If I used a wireless network without encryption, could somebody with a very power receiver read my data from miles away?

I have had my Hotmail account for about 4 years, and there have been two times where messages that I have deleted appeared in my Inbox. These were messages that I had deleted months ago, and removed from the trash can. However, they just came back into my Inbox. I was sure that Microsoft was secretly keeping deleted messages on their server. I e-mailed Microsoft, and they promised that they did not keep any deleted messages. They claimed that once a message was deleted from the trash can, it was gone forever. I didn't really believe this, and I was still sure that there was a hidden place in my Hotmail account that contained deleted messages. Now, I think I h…

Can someone tell me what prompt is? A person I know told me that it has something to do with saving everything that has been typed in a computer... I don't believe this, as the computer can't possibly hold all this data... So I am curious to know what exactly it is. I know it has something to do with MS-DOS. Also if such a program that saves everything typed does exist or saves all the actions taken, what would it be and how can it be altered ? In case you're wondering, no im not in trouble or anything.. Thnx. Plus, its my birthday today...

  16. Recently, I am told that, application server, like PHP, can handle more simultaneous responds from users to transact with database server, like MySQL...unlike clientside only program, MySQL only allows a few simultaneous connections to it... and more over, it is also more risky since MySQL database URL is exposed..... I am more concentrating on: why can, eg, php, transact with database more efficiently than clientside-only program<--> database server??? any explanation to this?? thanks

I have managed to install another Xp onto the other partition of the same HD, and I can view the other failure partition, but for some of the folders ,when double-clicked, the computer says something like directory either damaged or corrupted or unreadable or something like that... therefore I try GetDataBack for FAT, but another problem is, it pops up alot of window saying blabla s…

Please have a short look on the format below. A:1 B:2 C:3 D:4 This is the Multiple Choice question format in my word. I want to arrange them into A:1aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa B:2 C:3aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa D:4 There are lots of questions which I have to rearrange. Since I always see the required format/arrangement(white words represent space)in my teachers' papers, I wonder if someone here knows this technique and teaches me. Thanks for attention.

Does anybody know how to open the code and edit an .exe file? When I open an .exe file in Notepad, all I can see is the variable declarations and text messages in the program. I also see links to .dll files. The rest of the file is unreadable. Is there any type of software that can read a program and translate it into the original programming language? Since programming language can be compiled into an .exe file, it seems like it would be possible to do the opposite.
