Regards everybody, I'm distributing an application that needs a licence file protection. A file comes with a registered version that contains encrypted customer data. It's encrypted using asynchronous encryption (RSA). The idea is to encrypt the file with a private key, and give the public key to the application. So the application could decrypt the file, but would not be able to encrypt it. The goal is to make it as difficult as possible to make a keygen that would work on unmodified application assembly (with the original, unpatched exe that contains the unmodified public key). I planned to do this by separating public and private keys, and giving only the p…

Has anybody visited http://www.live.com and used the search engine? I think it's great because you don't have to worry about clicking on different pages. All you need to do is scroll up or down. Microsoft is still trying to work a few bugs out, but it looks great so far.

I'm planning to buy a 5.1 channel creative inspire speakers. On closer inspection I found out that there is only one mini phone jack that goes out of the sub into the PC. This means that this is the Digital In plug. Now, I've performed the SPDIF hack on my Xbox. Now I wish to connect the speaker set to my xbox. Is it possible? I've got reasons that support my view point that this should work: 1. The input mini jack in the Sub-Woofer has two terminals. 2. An SPDIF also has two terminals in the RCA plug. Now, is the SPDIF Digital Out same as the Digital In in the 5.1 surround sound system, i.e. if I make an RCA to minijack convertor will I get 5.1 sound?

Some of you might remember the thread I created a while ago when my computer was infected with the Haxdoor virus. This is a very bad virus, because none of the AntiVirus programs can delete it. It was a huge pain, but I finally found a way to delete it with the help of several SFN members, especially Dak and Cap'n Refsmmat. Well, it appears that Haxdoor is spreading again! It came into one of my other computers, but I deleted it using the same steps that I used the first time. It will still log your keystrokes and send them to other servers. The IP addresses for the servers appear to be: 212.27.63.103 and 67.15.35.7 Why haven't these servers been …

Yeah - I've been thinking of developing software (or atleast applications) that I could sell. Is this still hot (I know it used to be back in the day). Obviously I'm a lone programmer (at the moment) and still trying to get grips with a language. As with anyone starting C++ - I've been pretty much defeated by pointers (I really hate that word so I'm not going to use it ever . . . again). Hopefully I want to create a range of software such as games, utilities and the harder stuff (robotics). Should I carry on with C++ and try to learn the pointers (whilst verging on suicide) or should I just go with java. I know this question has been on the internet b…

Hello everyone, I need to write a research paper and choose an important issue (preferably related to the world of technology and computers) with controversy surrounding it. I would have to be able to find a variety of credible sources (explaining the issue, range of opinions, etc.) to support my paper. Any ideas anyone? Regards, Cheshire Cat

The reasons we have the particular layout we have today are out-dated and irrelevant for today's use on computers, as the original design was modeled for use on a keyboard. would it be effiecient or beneficial to change the standard QWERTY keyboard layout?

Write a program which start by drawing a 200 X 200 square at the top-left corner of the monitor. Continue drawing squares that become steadily smaller as they are displayed to right side of each preceding square. The bottom of the square stays at the same level. Each square is 25 percent smaller than the previously drawn square. Start with the student version, shown below. In the student version you are provided with a completed main method. This method is designed to execute graphics application, which done by completing the Windows class. Make no changes to the main method. Inside the Windows class, you will need to use a paint method that controls the…

I am thinking about building my own computer, i have what i would call an intermediate understanding of computers but want to know more. Having never built a computer, but seen a friend do it, it seems relativley straight forward. How difficult is it to link to processors to work in parrallel, is it stupidly difficult and am i being stupid by even thinking it could be a possibility on my first self-built computer.

Ive recently been having problems with bittorrent, it seemed that my ISP was choking bandwidth on 6881, so i changed to 40,000, and then recently to 65535... My point is that switching helped breifly, but now whenever i start a torrent, my internet connection cuts out, completely... (that was the problem i had with the other ports too...) ... the problem used to go away when i changed ports, but not anymore. Id Like to point out that i used BT for about 2 years on the same ISP with no problems, this is a fairly recent problem, and none of my hardware has changed, except me changing the Port Triggering on my router so it stands to reason the problem MUST be the …

hi, i saw http://www.bigstring.com and like the idea. here is how it works: you make an account there and send a email. When you type in your message and click send, the email message turns into an image. The person recieves your message as an image. You can control the image and do things such as limiting how many times it can be viewed, recovering it( it switches your image with a image that reads "the message has expired") , you can also set dates to when the image will delete it's self(it just switches your message, which is an image, with another image that's blank, or says the email has been pulled back. The image format is .png my question is how do i make an…

Hello everybody. I am at present studying the Intel 8086 architecture, and find myself in need of an 8086 simulator. I would at most prefer the TASM series. I tried googling for it( the TASM versions that is) but I get payware(I would like a free-download version). Perhaps one of you could help me and let me know of any site available for downloading, in particluar the TASM simulator, or other free-ware 8086 simulators. Thank you

carrying on from this thread... The idea, as it stands at the moment, is for a community-project to create a hosts file that restricts access to websites that advertise via spam, the intent being to damage their profit margin and hopefully convince them to stop being such spammy goits. for this, we'd need alot of people to periodically trawl through their 'junk email' folders to find websites that are advertising by spam, and add them to the list of blocked sites. Who'd be interested in doing that? Also, any ideas/input would be appreciated. first idea/input: before we start, i think we should forumulate an inclusion policy... i cant imagine the web…

I was just looking at the home page, and i noticed that most of the people on this website are spiders. i know what a spider is, but that is about as far as my knowledge goes. Are they deployed automatically? Do they move? if so how do they decide where to stop, and when to go? A bit more info would be appreciated.

I have been running through a few things and thinking based off of a few things I have read.. a) I have abandoned the 'neural' path mimic technique that many people seem to like. I disagree with this mainly due to the fact that I have read in the human brain all information is retrieved within 4 'synapse?'..but I cannot think of a way for data to be categorized in this way with an order. b) From reason a, if there is no order and it is seemingly random as to where each chunk of data is stored that makes it pretty difficult to find the data within 4 fires. (that could become extraordinarily slow after having 'taught' the ai thousands of nodes worth of data). …

So i have a site that i want to be able to tell me customized information such as my bank account balance or the number of unique hits i am getting and i am wondering how to code a page that will go out and get info from other pages that require a login. For example, i want it to go to my bank's website and login as me then get my balance, save it as a string, then output it to a page on my site. I can't find ANYTHING on how to do this and if you guys could just point me in the right direction with a page or link that has some sort of explanation or even where i might start coding wise i would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance
