  1. To this day, many people request using eBooks as an alternative to regular books for intellectual discovery. The ability to transport a library in a moment satisfies many people. The sad part of this controversy is how many eBook reading devices are being shut down and put out of production. Other eBook devices are sprouting in foreign lands. The devices in North America and the U.S. have come to be large and expensive PDAs. It's very interesting to see how low grade these eBook device technologies are. I'm suprised an electrical engineer hasn't created a solar powered eBook with the same technological attributes of a laptop for power conservation, but at the same tim…

Next September I'm going to have to create a database system for a fictional company. My school is encouraging us to use Microsoft Access, but I figured screw that, I'm going to use PHP and MySQL because I know what I'm doing with them and it means that I don't have to touch that damned program. Anyways, this means that my system will have to be web-based and make good use of relational database-ness. Please throw at me any suggestions for a good system. Plain ol' Content Management is a bad idea because I doubt I'll be able to convince my teachers that it is a database that I'm using (this is high-school we're talking about, so knowing more than my IT teachers is…

ive always thought it would be cool to have a computer that thought faster than any human, and lately computers are continuing to get faster and smarter. When do you think quantum computers will be made? ones that your average person could buy. id love to have V.I.K.I from the movie "IRobot" although not have here connectid to internet all the time. just as a precaution. also with the existence of quantum computers, it would be possible for really advanced AI. since QCs can preform many tasks at once.

Somebody was using a few of the domains I have on GoDaddy.com to send phishing schemes, viruses, and other junk mail. The e-mail addresses that the SPAM was sent from aren’t even registered on my domains. I got all the returned mail because I have one inbox on each domain setup as a “catch all” account. A “catch all” account means anything sent to (anything)@(mydomain).com will be sent to that inbox. A strange thing is that they used domains that I normally don’t even use to send or receive mail. In fact, one of the domains that were used doesn’t even have a web site hosted on it. Here is a picture of an inbox on one of my domains: It looks like the message…

Has anybody noticed that you usually don't need to type the URL when you are using Firefox? For example, you can just type "science forums" in the address bar, and it will take you to the Science Forums web site. It doesn't work for all web sites, but it will work for most of the ones that I tried. This feature also works in Internet Explorer, but you will need to name each site in your favorites first. For example, you could save the Science Forums web site in your favorites, and save it as "science". After that, you will just need to type "science" in the Internet Explorer address bar, and it will take you to the Science Forums web site.

Either way I will probably learn both but just looking too see which has the most features, flexability and power. If anyone has ANY insight, personal experience etc. with either of the languages please post and let me know which you think is the best one to learn. Also note, I already know some variations on C and VB as well as some others. Cheers, Ryan Jones

I have read quite a bit about quantum physics, conciousness (including quantum conciousness), relativity, the double slit experiment, schrodingers cat, the planck constant, dark matter etc etc etc You must have heard about the idea that we could be living in a computer simulation, (see the paper by Nick Bostrum).. Is there a way a sim could prove that s/he is indeed a sim and not 'real'? Is the planck constant the pixel size of our host computer's capability?

CapnRefsmmat suggested that I should learn Python, so I downloaded it last night and I do some very very simple things with it now. I learning it for fun, to increase my NQ (nerd quotient), and maybe to help me out in my work. So I have some questions: - Is it possible to force variable declaration? Forced declaration is automatic in C++, and it is optional in VB, but I've looked through the python handbooks and online and I havent seen anything. - What can I do with Python? Does it support bitwise operations like rotate-left, right-shift, and other bitwise arithmatic? Not that I really need it, but will support the creation of 3D graphs or shapes? Is it possi…

Im thinking with the 1 watt transmitter i can get probaly 5 miles out of it. Seems nice, the software controlled frequency thing sounds cool. Do you think it has good drivers? If i could i dont think i would buy this in fear of crap drivers. Nontheless, very interesting piece of hardware.

Can anyone design a turning machine which does the multiplication of integer n and m? The input tape starts with a string n+1 1s. This string represents integer n. After this string, there is a blank symbol B. After blank symbol, there is the other string which are m+1 1s. This string represents integer m. After computation, the turning machine should halt with n*m+1 1s on the tape. The result string represents the product of integer n and m. Of course, the tape alphabets are 0, 1 and B. For example, if I want to to the multiplcation of integer 2 and 3. The input tape should have string 111B1111. After computation, the turing machine should halt with the string 11111…

The page I want to frame is http://lost2destiny.homestead.com and I already wrote the HTML code: However, I do not know where to put the code. I would like the frame to replace where you would normally put your information, but I don't want it to cover up where other people can leave comments. Can anybody tell me how to do this? Thank you.

I created a free program that should block all frame-breaking web sites. I also added a new feature that should be able to block all pop-up ads. The pop-up blocker worked fine on one of my computers, but it won't work right on another computer. I'm not sure if there is a problem with the computer or my program. If you are running Windows XP, could you please go to http://www.surfingguard.com to download and test the pop-up blocker? Also, please make sure that Internet Explorer will work after you close my program. Please let me know if my program works for you. Thank you.

They also have a server, where they keep customer information files. Right now, each individual location has a LAN network but they are not connected to each other. The company would like to setup one central network. They want to be able to monitor and limit the use of the computers. This is because employees have been playing games and checking their personal e-mail when they should be working. The company wants to limit the web sites that each computer can access, and they also want to be able to change the settin…

Hi, this may be a pretty dumb question for you guys and gals, but here goes.... I have a Compaq Presario V2575ca laptop with an ati radeon xpress 200m igp (128mb) video card, and I am wondering if it is possible to buy another video card to replace the one I have? I understand that my card has shared memory, and i have 1gb of ram, but I would like to get a dedicated card for some smoother gaming. It doesn't have to be a top of the line card, but I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions as what to get? (assuming it would be possible for someone like me to replace the video card on my own) Thanks for your time.
