I don't know if this is classified as a psychological subject, but it is strange starange to think about. ____________________________________________________ I belive that time is controlled by the mind. That the faster ones mind is, (Idon't no really that much about the human mind, so I'll just say brainwaves.) the faster time goes. I actually did some research on the subject and can give conclusivve evidence. I won't post though until someone asks me, other wise it would be a waste of time.

I believe parents play a HUGE role in the psychology of their offspring. They are solely responsible to the feedback and such given to their children in their early years---- to later years. Parents build the foundation---- yes there is freedom to us, but everything is built on top of the foundation, which basically our parents complete control over. OK this isn't really debatable I think, and maybe theres not a lot of purpose in the statement, so i'll make another: Why is everything as it is? Its OUR fault, why are we all here--- your parents led you down the path of psychology which would predispose your interesest in such things. But what is the purpose of …

OK this should very properly be in neuro but I'm lazy (sue me). What do you think of the ADHD/ADD phenomenon? I am not too convinced that SO MANY kids can all be diagnosed with this. I think that a lot of these kids are understimulated and downright bored. I would be really interested if anyone has a great review they can reference that sets it all out there. I personally think that some of these kids are just not being well guided ...but no doubt some of you think differently, so let's hear it. I attended a seminar on this subject given by a researcher in this area and I just reckoned that the diagnosis of ADHD/ADD was so broad and subjective that I wasn't convinced. Ple…

I believe the mind consists of two parts of conciousness, the unconcious and the concious. There is a barrier between these two, which is hard to break. When one tries to break it, it only partially tears, and the man goes insane. But whatif the barrier was to disolve completley? Will some reply and tell me if anyone else that of this, or what they think will happen. I have my own ideas that are the coincide with some other writing I did somewhere else. I don't remember where...

Hi everybody i'm new to this forum and this site but i'm in desperate need of help. I recently got a Psychiatry project on placebos and how they affect the brain. I started writing the paper but i sounded like a Psychology paper. I mean I know what placebos are and what they do but how, where, when, why? The hows and wheres are the most important. How does you brain convince you and makes you act on something that does nothing (and i know it's not just will power). And where does it take place in the brain. I usually dont ask for help with science projects i mostly cheak it on the internet or experiment myself but i don tthink my mom would allow me to experiment with my…

Last night i was watching this show on animal planet about the top 10 "smartest" animals. Topping them all off was this parrot who could verbally identify shapes, colors, numbers, and material. It was pretty interesting. He could even tell you how many squares were on the table. But does the parrot really know what he's doing? I can't help but think these are just conditioned responses in order to get food. But if this is the case, what is real learning? I mean, I learn things in class because I have to make good grades. I need good grades to get into medical school. I would like to go to medical school to be a doctor, and I want to be a doctor for various reasons tha…

It looks as if these are not as ludicrous as they seem, with evidence as to what they actually are having been found: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/2266740.stm It seems like fascinating research, and I somewimes wonder what opportunities it could offer in the future, for example, will people start having electrodes implanted into their brains to stimulate these centres instead of taking drugs? could it perhaps offer treatment for drug addiction? your thoughts would be interesting

I know this question doesn't belong in this forum but I don't care, I need answers... ! Okay, can anyone tell me if it's possible for there to be an airborn chemical/infection that can severely damage the body and give the victims MEMORY LOSS? Another way of phrasing this question: Is there such thing as a chemical that can give people memory loss? If there isn't...is it at least a believable tragedy in a movie/fictional story? Thanks, I'll appreciate any feedback!

Hey! Well im only in grade 8, but i was wondering, im doing this science fair project and it is worth 50-60% of my mark, so i was wondering what kind of project can i do for "stress," i already finished the purpose and the first half of the scientific method, but im not sure how i should create the experiment. Also i have no ideas for a title page for my note book. If you have any suggestions please email me at lil_swt_g@hotmail.com Thanks! greatly appreciated!!

Women have higher rates of obesity and eating disorders than men do, but why? I'd assume that men's and women's brains react differently to hunger. If anyone knows anything about this, or has any information, please reply...I'm very curious.

Hi, I'm given a research project to do in my chemistry class. I need to get the idea off the newspaper or science article off a magazine. Currently I've been reading Scientific American about the possible causes of suicide and why people decide to kill themselves year after year. In the article it states about that some brains of people that died from suicide suggest they had low serotonin levels in the brain to depression, aggresive behavior and a tendency toward impulsiveness, but all this is confusing towards suicide, because numbers of studies have found reductions in serotonin in the brains of suicides, whereas others have not. Some have observed a lack of seroto…

This isn't really scientific, just something that crossed my mind. When was the last time you thought of something truly original? I've come to the conclusion that everything every idea either exists in nature, or is a synthesis hybrid of previous ideas. There are no original ideas. For example, think of something that you've never seen or heard about. I see a giant purple space meatball. Sounds original, but its not. I've seen a giant, I've seen purple, I've seen things floating in space, and I've seen meatballs. Perhaps we're not so clever after all, we're just good synthesizers.

It could be said that everything we do is to benefit ourselves in some way or another, whether it be emotional, physical, or psychological satisfaction. Try and come up with something that does not benefit us personally.. I thought about this for awhile and came up with organ donation. It doesn't directly benefit us, but it could be argued that the only reason we do this is the emotional satisfaction that you have knowing your organs could save lives. What do you guys think..
