For eight months, I've been researching/collecting information on amphetamine. I'm able to describe "to a tee" how amphetamine's mechanism of action affect the brain upon consumption, and nearly everything else thereafter, but one detail I CANNOT find is amphetamine's "path" upon leaving the brain. Any help, please?

Hey all, I just wanted to ask, I've been experiencing panic attacks lately. They only occur when I'm not doing anything that occupies my mind, eg.: When I'm eating. 90% of the attacks I get is while I eat. If I eat and for example I'm watching a movie at the same time, it's fine. If I'm reading, doing something on the computer, am at school or with someone, it's fine. But when I'm alone, and just waiting, for example when going somewhere in a vehicle with someone else driving, and have nothing to do, I start to experience symptoms that I understand are associated with panic attacks; intensive anxiety, incredible rush of energy, extreme impatience, agressivness (non-ph…

Do animals emote like humans? Do they experience love, joy, jealousy, heartbreak, etc. like humans? Or are they just being plain old animals, while we humans like to be anthropomorphic about them? This video from youtube— —brings such questions to mind. I have had plenty of good reasons over the years to think that we underestimate the raw intelligence and perception of many animals. (I had a Black Lab once who was so intelligent and perceptive that I sometimes had to resort to spelled-out conversations with other people so he couldn't understand me, and he still knew what was going on.)

Why Are Women Attracted To Violent Criminals And Psychopaths? I once e-mailed this question to Steven Pinker, a famous Harvard professor and evolutionary biologist: I have some questions to ask you that have perplexed me for some time. Many people seem to think that besides financially well-off men, women are deeply attracted to both thugs and gangsters. It seems that the conventional wisdom is that women are attracted to "assholes", but despise so-called "nice guys". Why is it that women seem to be so attracted to aggressive bullies, violent criminals, dangerous psychopaths, mass murderers, and drug-crazed gang-bangers? The fact that women are attracted to violen…

Since the forum is rather quiet with no posts I have decided to post something in order to provoke some insight from you guys What makes a serial killer? Are certain individuals genetically predisposed to have serial killer attributes or are they learned through environmental conditioning? Like everything to do with psychology and indeed general human science, academic theory can only be tested and generalized with to an extent, but certainly there appears to be a two-way interconnected process in terms of what causes someone to be a serial killer. I will give you my psychological view on it; serial killers possess a genetic adaptation that evolved in ancestr…

I decided to leave an atheist forum because the people there were over sensitive to the use of the term evolutionist. It appears that the offense to the term arose because creationists use the term to refer to people who believe in evolution. Atheist laymen love to to argue with creationists about evolution and the creationists refer to them as "evolutionist" of course. I guess these layman see it as a derogatory term. I know from searching this forum that people here don't have this problem with the term so I'm asking here. People at the other forum can be quite irritating about it though, to the point of harassment and even insulting. For some odd reason, which I a…

Hi, I'm a high school student and I've recently joined this site in hopes of someone, particularly someone in this field or a student in the field of psychiatry, to interview for an I-Search paper. Some of the questions are below. Just send me a a private message if you're interested. I will greatly appreciate it. What would be more convenient is to send me an email at kcrusaders1@yahoo.com. 1. What branch or subspecialty of the field of psychiatry did you want to focus on, or are focusing on? 2. Many people have a special time in their life that heavily influences a person's future. Did you have that or were you just drawn to the field? Why? 3. What was t…

Hello, I'm a new member to the forum and I would appreciate some advice on my problem. Please bear with me on the explanation of this for it takes a while to explain it. My wife has PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) which is both chronic and acute and has been in an extremely effective therapy program the last three years to recover from it. She is under the guidance and care of ITT, Inc. of Morgantown, WV., Dr. Louis Tinnan. While there for therapy and evaluation she was determined to have separate "parts". These parts she sees in her mind and have different ages, names, appearances and so on. These parts are not hallucinations but are what makes up her persona…

I have a 19 year old brother who is quite unstable emotionally. He has wild mood swings - sometimes he's easy to get along with, other times it's almost impossible to talk to him without him getting angry and accusatory. It has gotten worse recently (in the last year), appearing to coincide with a newfound addiction to computer games, particularly MMORPG's. This is affecting his ability to function in normal society, and he has become increasingly introverted. Sometimes, when he's in a good mood, he admits that he has an addiction and needs to change, but most of the time he gets very defensive if anyone even asks an innocent question about his computer games. Are these s…

hi I from time to time read books and other printed study material, often hoping that i can remember the things i am reading. i have no trouble understanding the things i study. the method of study i use, i read over the things i wish to retain, once, then in break each thing down by writing, one by one, what i've read. it seems that many things like books, and my study materials, i understand while i'm reading them, i enjoy reading them, but retaining the information becomes much more difficult. the types of things i have been studying are things like fallacies and cognitive biases. things that i hope to make a part of who i am, not something for say, a school …

I have a sister, 45, who is a spendthrift. She has had this problem for years, financially ruining her family several times. She and her husband have declared bankruptcy twice. Our father passed away in 2000. Afterwards, I helped our mother arrange her very middle class finances, which our father previously managed. In doing so, to the surprise of my mother and me, we discovered that dear old dad had bailed out sis several times, each in the $10 to $50k range. Since mom is not a soft touch, and since there are time limits on how often one can declare bankruptcy, my sister is again in financial trouble. Since 2000 she has borrowed money from me and her other 3 sibli…

Is it possible for a person to trick themselves into believing a certain thing for their own sake, even if they normally believe something different? For example, a student that smokes chooses to join a sports team for school. To be on the team one of the rules is abstinence of tobacco use. Although the student enjoys smoking and doesnt really mind the unhealthy aspects of it, he realizes that he needs to quit. Is there a way that the student could trick, force or otherwise make himself believe that he doesn't like smoking or that it is something that he is totally against?

After a negligible amount of sleep the previous night due to going out and drinking etc… added with some acetaminophen (Tylenol) for a little headache and during the day I didn’t get my normal nutrition, so by the end of the night, I started getting some minor “hallucinations” which were no more than just objects etc in the corner of my eye or in the dark appearing as something else for a second. But when I closed my eyes to go to sleep that night the real fun began… After a couple minutes of lying in bed, which is a place a normally use to collect my thoughts before sleep, I noticed that my overall mentality wasn’t normal. Then people’s faces started appearing v…

Conditioning your mind Negatively or Positively (see Ivan Pavlov) Have you ever noticed that when someone is very negative and always complaining they may start to influence you and you may start to see only the negative events or negative side of things as they do? The way you think can be conditioned and a person can also be psychologically manipulated to have a negative thinking pattern, to always see the negative side of things or expect the worse, or to see the negatives out of a situation or event reflexively instead of being open minded or thinking of the positives first. A tactic often used is to also constantly interpret or expose the victim to nega…

Things that may help prevent depression and suicides Take Action and Make an Action Plan: By taking action you will feel that you are taking control and in control of the situation. This can also build self-confidence and self-esteem. Think on paper and create an action plan. Go through the following and see how you can include them in your action plan, how you will apply them, and how you think they will help you. Physical exercise helps with stress, anxiety, and depression: Physical exercise releases chemicals that can help counter the effects of stress and depression. Short (20 minutes) time efficient and high intensity interval training on a tread mill can h…

I recall that several years ago there was some literature that explained what was often assumed to be impulse was actually grounded in a stream of emotional logic. So when someone made a purchase and has the sense that "something just told me that I had to have it"; there was an emotional chain of logic that could explain why that was not just a random idea out of the blue. If anyone can steer me towards research on this I would be very grateful Thanks Keith

Do you think it is real or in her mind? Can humans have sex with an incubus spirit. And if so how is it and how often do humans have sex with it. And do they come when they want and when you want them to? And can they speak to you as well. Just curious. The reason I asked this entire question is because a friend of mine did not feel well one day - her stomach hurt and she decided to pull down her pants and underwear and lye on her stomach on her bed. Then about fifteen minutes later she swore she felt a penis go inside of her. She was home alone. And also she said that one night she felt something jump on her bed and tell her not to move. Do you think they really exist o…

I was recently told by a self-claimed "medical doctor" that all scientific research supports the stereotype that men's sex drive is higher than women's. This stereotype clashes rather strongly with my everyday observations. I'm very curious as to whether science is really 100% behind it. Does science uniformly regard women as less sexual than men? Are there any peer-reviewed scientific studies which conclude that women have, or might have, a libido (at least) as strong as men's? Are there any scientists who have gone on record with this position? I would appreciate any references to such studies and/or scientists. Thanks in advance for any leads...
