I am going for a PHD in engineering if that even exists and I need answers for the best school of engineering that you know of so that I am sure what school to go to. (according to his profile) So we can imagine that in 6 years or so he will go for an interview at UVIC and they will say " we have a queue of ten thousand applicants- why should we choose you?" And, unless he has grown up in the mean time, he will tell them that they can leave. So, as a backup, perhaps someone should also let him know what the second-best school is. Are you looking for undergraduate programmes that would put you in a good position for a PhD later, or are you looking for PhD programmes? Unless you go to a very big name for your undergraduate studies, I am not sure it makes much difference in the long run what university you go to. Well, provided it is a reasonable place. Most companies hire Electrical engineers) In the Atlantic Provinces, University of New Brunswick in Fredericton, Dalhousie in Halifax, and I think Memorial in St. John's Newfoundland all have good Engineering programmes, though I am not sure about robotics in particular. Mordred Posted May 10, 2015 Share Posted May 10, 2015 Robotics are offered at BCIT, University of Alberta and University of Western Ontario. Those are the only three I can find that offer those courses to PH.D level. The others are diploma and bachelors. I can personally vouch for BCIT as I attended there, the classrooms tend to be a bit big. However the instructors I had were willing to put in quality time with each student. Though they don't offer robotics itself university of the Caribou is also excellent. The classrooms are smaller, so the instructors can deal more one on one with each student. emmandus Posted May 25, 2015 Share Posted May 25, 2015 Well I recommend University of Lagos in Nigeria, You could major in Artificial Intelligence under Systems Engineering, I currently run a programme here at M.Sc level and I believe you get real exposure here also. Harold Squared Posted June 12, 2015 Share Posted June 12, 2015 IMHO, the quality of the candidate trumps the reputation of the school. One need not have a good teacher to be a good student. In the practice of learning you will find talents, interests, and opportunities which will guide you better than any preconceived plan, since you will become better informed by the day. Unfortunately, cost will also enter into the decisions, though I hate to be the one to bring it up. Best wishes for your success in any case.
