Okay, there'll be something wrong with how we're reading the IPB cookies in WordPress. Dave will have to take a look; I'm not familiar with how it works.

I think the problem may be that the password hash is being regenerated. I need to have a bit more of a peek into the internals before I'm able to fix it - it may be a couple of days yet.

I dig the way more of the screen is now used, and how the text body of posts is now wider. Overall, nice job guys. Keep tweaking.

In the meantime, I do notice that reading from my Blackberry is much more of a PITA with the new style. With the new wider margined threads, by the time I get to the zoom level needed to see the text, I have to scroll left to right a whole lot to read one sentence to the next.

I'm not too familiar with the technical side of what's happening there, but can anything be done to make threads better formatted for wireless devices?

OK, thanks. Now that it doesn't seem so random it's less aggravating.

Get down to the bottom left of the page, to the style chooser (it should have "SFN" selected at the moment) and select IP.Board Mobile instead. You'll get the pre-made mobile layout designed for small screens.

It's supposed to give that to you automatically, actually -- I'll have to look to see why it isn't.

If you could take your Blackberry to http://whatsmyuseragent.com/ and post your user-agent here, I'll see why it's not sending you to the mobile theme. Someone else has reported a similar problem in IRC.

Thanks. I'll look into that. In the meantime, it seems consecutive posts from same user don't merge.

That was a vBulletin plugin, and I don't think the same feature is in IPB. I'll look to see if there's a plugin to achieve it.

edit: I take that back. There's a built-in feature to achieve it. Enabled!

Just making sure it works.

OK, I think I have a bead on this. I can't use a bookmark to go to any blog admin page, unless it's after I have gotten into the SFN forums (except for the initial login when it still didn't work). Thus far I can still get in if I have an SFN page open or I have visited SFN very recently. So perhaps there's an auto-logout feature whose timeout can be reset, or it's not recognizing that I want to stay logged in. What is also annoying is that trying to get into one of the admin features doesn't even redirect me to a login page.

More data: while composing a blog post, which took several minutes, I noticed a warning appear that I was no longer logged in. Which suggests to me there's a logout-timeout setting involved, of perhaps five minutes.

there seems to no longer be a clear indicator of which posts you've read and which are new(the little orange bit on posts at the end of a thread) it'd be handy if you brought those over.

also, i used to have threads set up to view as 100 or so posts per page instead of 10. not sure how you change that here.

Tired of waiting around for a reply on the forums? Use IRC, 'I don't know how' is no longer an excuse.

That may be doable; however, when you click the Posted Image link to get to a thread, it should take you to the first unread post anyway.

Default is 20, and it's only admin-changeable, unfortunately.

There used to be a 'get all new posts' button at the top which I used on every visit to see what had been posted regardles of which specific forum it ws in. Is it no longer a feture of the new SFN?
I always found it very useful; everything in one place and in chronological order.

Other than that, I'm loving the new look SFN, the new logo aint too bad either :eyebrow:

What am I trying to say? What words will express it? What image or idiom will make it clearer? Is this image fresh enough to have an effect? Could I put it more shortly? Have I said anything that is avoidably ugly?

When I was born I had no concept of race, nationality or religion... And I still don't.

That's what I was looking for

I couldn't quite see it as half the text doesn't display
i.e. I can only see the top half of the text.

thanks.

11 out of 10 on the new look site guys.

Hmm. Could you take a screenshot of this problem and show me? If there's some text being obscured, I'll have to fix it.

Could that be added to the IP.Board.Mobile theme (or, me advised where it is if already present)?

In the upper right (to the right of "Science Forums") is a small button with what appears to be a quotation mark inside it. Tap that and you'll get a menu with New Content as one of the options.

no, i found that one.

i mean in the thread itself.

i don't have any images which would make this easy but there was a little marker that looked a bit like a post-it note on the bar at the top of the post with the user name that would be either orange(the post was made since the last time you logged on) or pale blue(its older than that).

it's handy for finding where you left a thread.

I'm afraid no such thing exists. You'll have to rely on the search results directing you to the first unread post in the thread, as they're supposed to.
