hybrid computers

Featured Replies

I want to have clear concept about hybrid computers , i have serched alot this topic on internet but i am not getting clear idea about this.

can any body guide me

what are hybrid computers??

how they differ from other types of computers??

What is their importance ??

applications??

Hybrid computers combine digital computing and analog computing. I have designed and worked with many different types of computers for more than 40 years and have never come across one. If they are used, I assume they are in very specialised fields.

Ages ago an analog computer could solve mathematical equations far faster than a digital computer. This isn't really true anymore. It also has certain advantages an analog-digital computer could be put in a nuclear bomb and it would still run if hit by an emp. You would have an analog countdown timer to detonation ie a set of gears and a digital computer taking a readout of how long you have until the bomb goes boom. They are also used in nuclear reactors and nuclear launch facilities.
