And I thought pneumonoultramicroscopisicovolcanoconiosis was big.

I thought the longest was

AEQUEOSALINOCALCALINOCERACEOALUMINOSOCUPREOVITRIOLIC (52 letters)

before i saw this.... :)

Imagine if they put this on the spelling be...

Can anyone even pronounce this word? I mean really it would be pretty cool to memorize but it would take a while to do so. Its kind of like memorizing pi cool but ultimately useless.

Challenge: Use this word in a daily conversation!!!

Do you have a longer word?

I'm guessing he has a shorter word that actually exists.

Well you cant not prove that it actually dosnt exist. i found it on this site, Im not 100% sure about it but I know for sure 100+ words have been created. ;)

And of course if you count chemical names, all bets are off and 310 is nothing.

Supposedly the chemical name for a strand of DNA (every single chromosome and so on) is over a trillion letters.

Try memorizing that! ;)

Stop being such a gullible ponce.

That so-called "word" is just a bunch of butchered Anglo-Latin and Anglo-Greek transitionals that are bolted together in a way that makes no sense.

A cursory glance reveals the following:

ORNI - pertaining to winged flight

BIBLIO - pertaining to books

PSYCHO - of the mind

METERO - of or pertaining to the atmosphere

AUSTRO - Austro-Asiatic, from the Latin auster (south)

HIERO - sacred or holy, pertaining to hierology, from the Greek hieros (holy)

ANTHROPO - pertaining to anthropometry, humanity

ICHTHYO - of fish, from the Greek ikhthuo (fish)

PYRO - pertaining to fire

...and so on.

Also I note a couple of duplications in there.

that's why 99% of the time you are being corrected.

It gives all of you people something to do. ;)

Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia - fear of long words

When I read this I actually laughed out loud, which I do not do often when reading stuff. :D

(ROFL! The board software shortened that hyperlink because the word was so long. Hahahaha....)

"Infinate"`s a pretty big word too :)

Closely followed by: "I wanna have a WORD with you!" after you`ve just melted the wifes brand new kitchen counter top... that "Word" can go on for ages too, if not Years! :)
