Cap'n Refsmmat
SFN has been upgraded to the latest and greatest version of vBulletin. There are loads of new and shiny features (have fun finding them), and there may be a few lingering problems as we get over the upgrade. If you spot any, post them here so we can sort them out. Hope you enjoy the newer SFN.
ecoli
Let me suggest, that the first thing users should explore is the brand spanking new 'social networking' feature in the control panel.

swansont
If someone sends me a "friend" request and I accept, am I obligated to help him move?
Klaynos
If someone sends me a "friend" request and I accept, am I obligated to help him move? Yes you are! Does anyone know what the ok button on threads does yet?
Martin
If someone sends me a "friend" request and I accept, am I obligated to help him move? Just to let you know, I am not planning any moves.
Cap'n Refsmmat
Yes you are! Does anyone know what the ok button on threads does yet? It was actually a button that's supposed to appear in the case of an error in Quick Reply (you hit the button to make the error message go away), but I had a stray <thead> in the template that made the thing appear all the time. Oops.
Pangloss
I guess I should have asked about that here instead of on the Mod board and saved you a little typing. Can anybody edit these "tags" at the bottom of the thread or just mods? I threw a couple in on various threads just to see what would happen. Are they for search hits? Cap'n Refsmmat
They're editable by anyone (I think). I think I can insert a "tag cloud" somewhere so people can browse threads by tag. They may also influence search.
iNow
As I understand it, tags are usually set by the person who creates the thread. That person can put in a few key words as tags before submitting it. After the thread has been created, then I'd imagine it's a mod or admin only who can edit them (if, for some strange reason, that were ever necessary). Mr Skeptic
Looks like tags are editable by others: Add Tags (Separate tags using a comma.) You may add 2 tag(s) to this thread. Tags will be visible to all users.
Pangloss
That's interesting. It says I can add 21 tags to this thread.
iNow
The NoSpam question on the search feature (when not logged in, but instead searching as a guest) cannot be answered correctly. I've tried about 4 times, and despite my checking it closely and following case sensitivity it disallowed my search attempts each time.
Cap'n Refsmmat
Must be an artifact of the upgrade. I'll turn NoSpam off.
Klaynos
I think there might be a good case for removing tags, it allows for simple faceless insults of peoples ideas, e.g. tagging a post as rubbish...
Pangloss
I wondered about that as well, but I'm willing to let it go for a while and see what happens.
Sayonara
I think maybe restricting tag rights to the OP only would be a good plan.
timo
I think handling insults via tags just the same as insults via posts is a better plan.
Reaper
How come admins and moderators don't have different colors any more?
Cap'n Refsmmat
Which style are you using? (Scroll to the bottom left of the page and the drop-down will tell you.) edit: ah, okay. Fixed. I forgot the way stylesheets are inherited among styles...
Reaper
Ok, it's been fixed, I was using the other one.
Dak
I think handling insults via tags just the same as insults via posts is a better plan. +1 ------ what exactly is this whole 'friends' malarkay about?
Cap'n Refsmmat
vBulletin is trying to do social networking. Feel free to ignore the "friends" feature.

Royston
I object to the fact I only have two friends on my list, both very decent chaps, but still...I second Klaynos's notion.
