Wouldn't a brain transplant be succesful if you just managed to connect all the nerves in the spine to the brain? And the body didn't reject the new brain of course. :P

Then define dead.

I don't think that anything in the film is impossible, just that there would be better ways to achieve the same thing.

Yep. It only takes about four minutes without oxygen to do irreparable damage (longer with cooling).
