Well, disgusting and gross. So pretty much on brand.

At least the precedent will be set for the public execution of the top tier of this administration when the time comes.

I am wondering, is it Pay-per-view? Because there must also be a grift somewhere.

The USA is not built on holding powerful and rich men accountable.

You mean after the Marxist revolution of the proletariat is complete and money no longer buys acquittals? Expect delays. 😀

Seriously, I had the same thought.

And now, you are going to be detained at the border for that post.

According to CNN, President Trump and his advisers are now debating whether to call off plans to livestream the execution of the Fort Hood shooter Nidal Hasan .

President Trump who was not consulted before Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced the livestream plans last week has said privately that did not know that Hasan was paralysed from the waist down after being shot in the back by law enforcement during the Fort Hood incident in 2009, and now uses a wheelchair.

Rights and wrongs of execution aside, It shouldn't make any difference whether someone is physically disabled. In the UK, someone was dropped through the trapdoor in a wheelchair.

Ah, yes, the Dr. Gillespie killings. A doozy.

That's some kind of reference to a film that I'm not aware of. This was done by Albert Pierrepoint or one of his successors.

It’s a reference to Blazing Saddles

I’m not aware of any record of such an execution in the UK. Albert Pierrepoint’s own memoirs refer to only one unusual hanging early in his career where the convicted felon was a dwarf. Pierrepoint was the no. 1 UK executioner until his retirement in 1956. Capital punishment only continued for eight more years until 1964 in the UK.

Fixed missing "until".

Lionel Barrymore was in a wheelchair IRL, as well. They wrote that into his part for his malign role in It's a Wonderful Life, as well as his benign role in the Dr Kildare series. (the films not the later US tv series) (I used to play way too much at movie trivia contests)

To mend my OT meander: Once in a while synapses still fire in the Dotard's brain and he thinks of the optics. While there's no objective difference of outcome in executing a paraplegic, some residue of tv savvy in the orange one must have awakened and realized that it might amp up the revulsion factor.

I can't find it now. The wheelchair crashed to floor.

It has been called off, supposedly because Hasan is now in a wheelchair after being shot during the incident. What I heard through the grapevine is the main reason was they were having trouble finding someone to stream it because it violates nearly all of their "terms of service" for using that platform (the terms are written specifically to keep extremists from showing beheadings, assassinations and the like, which would also include firing squads).
