What Element Data does the (1-18) Standard Periodic Table numbering Correspond to?

Also, why are the "Rare Earth" Elements always excluded from this numbering system?

In my Chemistry Textbooks it just says, "to Save Paper Space" but that doesn't seem like a very scientific reason to remove the Lanthanides and Actinides from their correct positions and exclude them from the numbering as the Standard.

I don’t understand the question. It’s the column number.

The actinides and lanthanides require an addition dimension, as it were, because you are now filling an additional shell. Or a much wider table, since you’d need 14 more columns, that would apply to only 2 rows.

What is their “correct” position?

They are not kept out, the full table is unweildy, the standard version includes the rare earths in a more compact way and appear in your table.

There is a comprehensive discussion and link about this on Quora.

which also offers  the  full table

In order for the Periodic System to be a true Universal Language of Science, the primary organizing principle must be the 4 Quantum Numbers and not any Element behavior or properties.  Element behavior can change drastically based on conditions such as temperature and pressure whereas the Quantum Numbers are universal.  Also, behavior of the Elements is often a function of the Numbers and therefore the Quantum numbers are more fundamental than any Element behavior or property.  The devil is in the details and with a System and discovery as important, influential and powerful as the Periodic Table, we must strive to be as accurate as possible when teaching it to the next generation of students.

It is fairly simple to prove which Periodic Table System and arrangement is the best by simply counting and listing the number of accurate, useful and complete Element data points that can be extracted by the user at a glance. The Genesis System of Atoms (Primary Arrangement) provides more accurate and complete Element data than any other Periodic Table System currently available. It displays a complete and accurate numbering system that corresponds to the 4 Stable Bonding Rules of Chemistry, 2-8-18-32.

Breaking the Periodic Table to "Save Paper Space" is no longer a valid reason as we are shifting more and more away from books to widescreen monitors.  Now is the perfect time to make the "Wide", correct arrangement of the Elements the Standard.  These arrangements provide measurably more accurate, useful and complete Element data than the Standard.  All 4 Quantum Numbers for any Element can be extracted from this system and arrangement without having to reference any separate charts.

Is that it, then? All this fuss, just to argue for inserting the f block in between the s and d blocks - which any chemist already knows is where it fits?

Or is there any more to this?

I am proposing a Periodic System of Elements that has the potential to be used as a True Universal Language of Science and one day possibly communicate with an intelligent alien species.

I call it The Genesis System of Atoms and it's primary organizing principle is the fundamental quantities of particles within Atoms, the 4 Quantum Numbers and the Periodic Law.

The Standard Periodic Table of Elements on the other hand, places Elements based on atomic number, Element properties and an unscientific, outdated tradition, where the Lanthanides and Actinides are placed out of their correct positions and excluded from the Standard (1-18) numbering system.

Because of this, and because Element properties can change based on conditions such as temperature and pressure, the Standard Periodic Table is not a great candidate for a Universal Language and would not be a good way to attempt to communicate with an Intelligent Alien Species.

The Genesis System of Atoms also emphasizes the importance of plotting the Atoms 1 by 1 in an unbroken arrangement, which provides an Elemental history and Timeline of the creation of the Universe. Because Elements were not all created at once, but rather were created from smallest to largest, plotting the Elements in this manner is a logical and accurate way to present the Periodic System to students and researchers alike.

Using the flip book I've created, it brings the Atoms to life while and presents the Genesis System of Atoms to students in smaller, more digestible peices, making it easier to follow, learn and use the most important, influential and powerful discovery and tool in the history of science.

The Genesis System of Atoms retains all the Element Data and Periodic Trends from the Standard Periodic Table and only adds additional Element data. It also is the only Periodic System currently available with a complete and accurate numbering system that corresponds to Valence Electrons for S and P Block Elements, (n-1) Core Electrons for D Block Elements and (n-2) Core Electrons for D block Elements.

Consequently, the numbering system corresponds to the 4 Stable bonding rules of chemistry, which are 2, 8, 18 and 32. This will allow students to more easily use the Periodic System to make accurate predictions about how Atoms will react and bond with other Atoms.

The Genesis System of Atoms, when compared against the Standard Periodic Table, provides more accurate, useful and complete element data to the reader. This is not my opinion or my belief. It is an empirical fact that can be verified with a simple expirement by anyone with the willingness to compare the 2 Systems to the widely accepted element data.

The Genesis System of Atoms provides an additional 4 Data Points for EVERY element at a glance. Using the Standard Periodic Table and (1-18) Numbering System, students must memorize and use math tricks, subtracting 10, to find the Number of Valence Electrons for P Block Elements.

This may not seem like a big deal to advanced chemistry students but for beginning students it causes nothing but confusing. With the Genesis System of Atoms primary organizing principle being the Quantities of Particles, a complete and accurate numbering system is applied where no memorization or math tricks are required. The Numbering System corresponds directly to the number of Valence Electrons making it easier to extract that data from the System.

Additionally, the Genesis System of Atoms numbering system reflects the number of (n-1) Core Electrons for D Block transition metals as D-Block Elements add electrons to the (n-1) Energy Level. The Standard 1-18 numbering system does not correspond to any actual Element Data and excludes the Lanthanides and Actinides completely.

The Genesis System of Atoms restores the Lanthanides and Actinides to their proper positions in the arrangement and includes them in the numbering system in a meaningful way. F Block Elements add electrons to the (n-2) energy level and this is easily tracked with the Genesis System of Atoms numbering system.

The Genesis System of Atoms also highlights all the Hunds Rule Exceptions that deviate from the expected pattern and numbering system. Instead of shying away from these anomolous Elements, the Genesis System of Atoms tackles it head on and clarifies the hiccups in the electron configurations of Elements like Chromium and Copper that often give chemistry students so many problems.

Using the Genesis System of Atoms Numbering System and simple points, lines and arrows, the Hunds Rule Exceptions are able to be graphed and visualized directly within the Framework of The Genesis System. This again, eliminates the need for memorization as this data it is directly integrated into the Genesis Periodic System.

Finally, the 4th Quantum Number, Electron Spin is directly integrated into the system using a technique I call, Element Shifting, where columns of elements are shifted slightly either Up or Down based on the Up or Down Spin of the last Electron added to the Atom. This allows students and teachers to identify the Electron Spin of any Element for Orbital Diagrams without having to memorize the information or reference a separate chart. This cannot be done using the Standard Periodic Table.

The Periodic System is arguably the most important, influential and powerful comprehensive scientific discovery in the history of the world and it is my position that it should be as fundamental to our education as counting and reading. Everything we can touch, taste, hear, smell and see is made of Atoms so it would stand to reason that the more knowledge a person had about the Elements, the better equipped they will be to live and be successful in the Universe. Unfortunately, the number of people, even those who have graduated from High School or have college degrees, who can read and use the Periodic System to make accurate predictions about matter is staggeringly low.

Few know the true power of the knowledge contained within the Periodic System and it is my aim to change that with the Genesis System of Atoms.

Thank you for your time if you made it this far and I hope this helps anyone who may be struggling with Chemistry or Quantum Mechanics.

I appreciate any feedback and I would be happy to answer any questions.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Best Regards

Justin Colburn

You've already done this, several times, over the last few years, haven't you? Why do you think we are going to be any more interested this time round?

What makes me think that scientists and people who claim to be interested in science, would be interested in a more accurate, more complete, superior Periodic System? A Periodic System that is easier to follow, learn and teach... Oh I don't know, maybe our dreadful education system, especially with regards to chemistry, or our terrible scientific literacy rates among our students and citizens.

My 4 year old Son can read and use the Periodic System better than most High School graduates and if it continues down this path where a tiny minority can read, use and speak the language of science, creating all the technologies, drugs and food products everyone else depends on, it won't be long before all our freedoms are gone.

I keep posting this here not because I believe you people are just going to magically one day be interested but because with knowledge comes responsibility to show people the truth. Then the blood is off my hands come the last day. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink and you can show people the truth but you can't make them think.

So since I answered you, let me ask you a question... Why do you have nothing productive or constructive to say in regard to my claims? This is a forum that is supposed to be about Science in the Quantum Theory section and I have claimed that the Genesis System better reflects the Laws of Quantum Mechanics, the Periodic Law and the Atoms that the Universe is built with better than what is taught in schools around the Planet and you can't come up with a single criticism of the System based on the widely accepted empirical Element data?

Is it because you are afraid of what you will find or what? Afraid that when you actually look into this, you will find that everything I am saying is 100% indisputable fact. The thing about me is, I am a persistent bastard and because I know this is true, I will never stop. Even if nobody ever showed any interest, I'd still be doing the same thing.

Thankfully though, I've received praise, positive feedback and endorsement from some of the top Chemistry Professors and Periodic Table experts in the world, so your lack of interest really means nothing to me.

Accusing people who don't express interest of being "afraid" is classic crank boilerplate. So 20 crank points for that. Also I note the confusing riot of fonts and colours, again characteristic of cranks. So 10 more crank points for that. 😁

You never responded to my post in 2021, asking whether all you had done was insert the f-block in between the s and d, which every chemist knows is where it fits. It looks as if, at that time, that indeed was all you had done. Hence nobody thought this was a great revelation or worthy of comment.

Now, 3 years later, it seems you have added this little vertical displacement to indicate net unpaired electron spin and talk about Hund's Rules. I don't really see the value in this. It seems to add complexity to no particular purpose. Most chemists are not that much concerned with ground state atomic term symbols, but with how elements react chemically. The unpaired spin in the atomic ground state does not seem to me to yield much insight into the chemical compounds formed by the elements. Or do you think it does?

"Periodic-Table experts"...

Hmm

How does that go?

Call 911(1/2) for a periodic-table expert?

It’s not like any of this is an absolute. What works better for you doesn’t necessarily work better for someone else. You are confusing ”makes sense” with “makes sense to me”

And, like many people who show up here with diagrams, you overestimate how intuitive it is, likely because you are already familiar with the details.

The Standard Periodic Table of Elements on the other hand, places Elements based on atomic number, Element properties and an unscientific, outdated tradition, where the Lanthanides and Actinides are placed out of their correct positions and excluded from the Standard (1-18) numbering system.

I don’t understand this claim. You don’t include them in the 1-18 numbering system, either. Or am I just imagining the numbers 19-32?
